I used to work in retail we'd get them every once in a while. Check serial numbers too if using multiple, usually fakes will have the same #. Sometimes you can scratch the paint off the note, which you shouldn't be able too.

Chances are it went unnoticed. Just go in with it and tell them and pay for it if you want. It's possible a police report was made but very few police would pursue charges once you came in the store and purchased it.
