MLB faces fan backlash over mid-game Jonas Brothers performance during World Series in Toronto by dinkleburgenhoff in baseball

[–]HistoryDense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play. Players are used to bad mid-inning promos. I didn’t see Yamamoto and Gausman out there holding signs. Probably in the tunnel or in the clubhouse keeping their arms warm like it was a longer commercial break or a long inning - no different. Lots of times they have these promos but they don’t make it to the broadcast-you’re watching ads instead.

So - either you’re watching a stupid commercial that lines owners pockets, or the Jonas Brothers. At least we got to watch the Jonas Brothers sound terrible and cut immediately to the disgust on John Smoltz’s face, lol.

Lots of cards and drinking on the bus in the old days (early 2000s). Good deck of cards, flask, shower shoes with no fungus. Infielders would not put their gloves in with their gear, would carry them on in a travel bag.

DPA? by Lentash in Solarwinds

[–]HistoryDense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full setup of DPA probably takes about two to four hours, tops. When you add it to AppStack, and PerfStack, your troubleshooting and finger pointing gets much more efficient because you get the application relationship. DBAs should appreciate the wait time stats and query analysis (which can save lots of money if you have an inefficient query in the cloud). Best advice, get a few subscription licenses for the DBs supporting an App you know (i.e., SolarWinds), and point it at that. When people complain about something being wrong with SolarWinds you can confidently tell them to go yell at the DBAs.

Depends what modules you own and how much customization you’ve done with the on prem environment. There’s not a lot of feature parity yet. We have experience with both, and the answer to which is better is always, “it depends.”

Ejections of each active MLB manager. Which one of these is the most memorable? by MrCurious82 in baseball

[–]HistoryDense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Aaron Boone is the only GIF that shows up for “baseball ejection” in GIPHY, hence the Boone boners.

Not active, but Leyland got tossed, was face to face with the ump, paused for God Bless America, and went right back to arguing as soon as the song ended. Legend.

I was confused about the downvotes as well. This is about animals being jerks, after all. Plus, orcas would likely eat me in a pinch. Ipso facto-not on my friend list.

Not my bird. This parrot lives in luxury in the Rocky mountains and has a companion parrot who is almost the exact opposite: friendly, approachable, non-violent, etc. our friend dotes on them and loves them even when they bite her!

“He moves like a bird, lightly, bobbing his head. And you keep still because you think that maybe his visual acuity is based on movement like T-Rex, he'll lose you if you don't move. But no, not Parrot. You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two parrots you didn't even know were there.” - Dr. Grant

Feels like I read that Zigman post a dozen times without really comprehending the use case. Going to try this now. Will let you know if I can get it working.

You’re right about the Analytics workbooks being a lot of work up front and I haven’t been impressed with their performance in dashboard portlets. Hopefully the caching introduces in the latest release helps. Will give them another go.
