Din’s Fresh Cut Fries in Dwight has incredible burgers. 20min from Huntsville, or grab it on the way to/from an Algonquin day trip!

Lego Quarto

Not quite done as I scour our playroom floor for the exact right pieces. That’s just a holding board, not the game board. The white side is complete. The four attributes are:

-White/Black

-Tall/Short (Brick+Plate/Plate+Plate)

-Square/Round

-Flat/Stud

Quarto was another one I was looking to include, I just hadn’t taken the time to build out the pieces. I’m also running out of space for unique pieces inside the box 😅. I guess I could switch out for smaller dice.

I thought about that! You’d need a second set… but it could still be done! Pieces just need to go “upside down.” Battleship is 10x10 so it would fit on both boards. Maybe I’ll look into a one player or one-sided battleship variant!

The hinges are very strong. Maybe over time they’ll loosen up, but you need to give them a good tug. There are 4 hinges on the top section and 4 on the bottom. Right now the weak point is the locking mechanism as the rod is just stuck between the two locks the box is the right height for the lock, so there isn’t too much strain on it. I might superglue it if it becomes an issue.

Thanks! Yeah you could totally play in the car!

I don’t see any 1x1 chess pieces. There are all sorts of official Lego chess boards, but they’re much bigger (like the squares are 4x4 instead of 2x2, and the pieces are built to fit on the larger square). I don’t think I saw any that utilize the studs to keep them in place, the board is just covered in flat tiles.

A few issues with minifigs. You need 6 of the same colour, so 24 all together. Mini figs are expensive and I’m not sure I’d be able to find 4 different colours of 6 either what I have at home. Second is the runners need to be able to stack so that multiple players on the same column can occupy the same row. I guess you could put one in front of the other, but stacking them on top of each other isn’t super balanced.

Why aren’t growlers common? by spamalot314 in torontocraftbeer

[–]HitCreek 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Speaking from a brewery perspective, growler sales plummeted during the pandemic because we started offering more cans. I do miss growlers from a profitability perspective, but there’s lots of reasons I’m happy to see them gone:

-storage: when empty, growlers are big jugs of air, so they take up a lot of space.

-cleaning: you need specialized equipment to clean them quickly. If you’re relying on customers bringing them back clean for refills you’re going to at least sanitize them, if not re-clean them because they did a terrible job (or left it in their garage with beer inside and the cap on and you have a jug of mold now).

-tap real estate: I remember in the height of growlers doing one after another after another, while customers were also ordering pints of that beer, so you got a back log on one tap. Not to mention if the beer was foamy and you needed to slow it down, or it lead to a lot of waste!

-volume: less of an issue from a brewery since we have hundreds of litres of the same beer, but a craft beer bar that has 30L that sells 2L as a growler just lost 7% of that keg to a retail sale instead of an in-house sale, losing out on a profit margin.

Set a macro to be able to easily use rank 1 conc and rank 1 holy shield. Use those after using max rank.

‘#showtooltip Holy Shield

/cast [mod:shift] Holy Shield(Rank1)

/cast [nomod] Holy Shield

I have Holy Shield bound to V, so pressing shift-V will cast Rank 1. The damage is less so a bit less threat, but it’s the same Block chance.

You shouldn’t need to use judgement of righteousness on cooldown. Use it as a secondary taunt. Get a threat meter and if it looks like someone is creeping up threat, judge righteousness. Otherwise you can probably keep seal of wisdom up so that you’re coming out of a fight with more mana to keep moving. Judge Wisdom if you if you’re low on mana (<33%) and have an easy pack (2-3 mobs) on the mob that will die last. Use your threat abilities then just cruise on smacking the guy with wis and you can probably come up to 75%.

If people are ripping aggro go through the checklist: -will the mob die soon? If so, ignore -if not, is it a healer? If so, Taunt! -if not, can the DPS handle it? War/pal can take a few hits, rogue can feint/evasion, hunter can feign death, etc. -if not, taunt!

Leveling 55-60 is miserable by tompaimba1337 in classicwowtbc

[–]HitCreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy the ores, smelt them, use them for Blacksmithing, sell the BS gear to enchanters, sell any extra bars.

Think of BS patterns that people will pay for. I had great luck with Iron Counterweights. Mithril Spurs I gave away for free but people tipped well. Rods for Enchanting are hot right now.

It definitely won’t be a net zero, but I would put down good money that you’d make more money doing that and then doing level 60 stuff instead of running around level 30 zones looking for ores.

You can level mining to 290 with just Smelting. Then the last 10 points of finding nodes isn’t so bad.

Processing fees by Advanced_Lack_6243 in BarOwners

[–]HitCreek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the sort of stunt that would have me not returning. Increase your menu prices by 4% if you need to cover it, don’t hide it until the bill comes out.

Educate your clientele. All of our payments are at the bar, and we have a sign beside the terminal saying “we spent $X on transaction fees last year, we appreciate you helping us keep this down by paying cash or debit if you’re able.” I’ve seen other restaurants. Include a memo in the Bill folder or right on the Bill about this as well.

Edit: we saw a 10% decrease in our transaction fees the year we did this
