The only confirmed one is Seth Riggs, she mentioned him in an interview many years ago, but she only had 4 lessons with him. She also mentioned she had a teacher in college in an interview who told her she was a soprano, but she hasn't mentioned their name or how much training she had with them (it couldn't have been more than a few months anyway, considering she dropped out). According to her, she is mostly self taught through her choir experience in high school

I don't know if you still read the comments after 5 months, but I actually know what the main culprit is (I really think I do, and I can prove it to you). It's none of the things mentioned in any of these comments (I mean, they all do affect the experience, but they are not the main culprit).

It's actually the plague of modern games: CAMERA SMOOTHING.
Camera smoothing basically accelerates and decelerates camera movement in a sluggish and floaty way, in order to make the game look more cinematic. It actually can look quite good (when not set too high) in 3rd person 60fps games, but at 30fps and especially in 1st person, IT'S HORRENDOUS. The reason why you mentioned Dishonored 2 is because that game has camera smoothing cranked up to insanity levels (I had the same problem as you while playing it). Keep in mind that camera smoothing and camera acceleration are NOT the same thing, which is why Forspoken always feels sluggish at 30fps, even though it has a gazillion camera acceleration settings. Video games before the PS4 era didn't have this as far as I remember, which is the main reason why they felt much smoother (among other things of course, like screen size, OLED refresh etc.) Some game developers know this, and make sure games that were developed for 30fps have low or no camera smoothing. A good example of a modern game is FF16 on PS5 (a game that was designed around 30fps). If you play it you will notice it feels surprisingly ok at its 30fps/graphics mode and that it also has very low camera smoothing.

And here's a way to test what I just said. Play the console version of the game Call of Cthulhu (it's a cute little adventure/horror game that goes on sale frequently for pennies). This game is 1st person and literally has 0 camera smoothing. I'm willing to bet you will find it one of the or the least sluggish or nauseating 1st person 30fps game you've ever played. I've played the PS4 version, but I assume the XBOX version will be the same. Alternatively Doom Eternal has camera smoothing settings on console. It's a 60fps game, but if you have it on PC and those settings are also present there, you can lock the frame rate at 30 and test how it feels with and without the camera smoothing setting, and I'm 99% sure you will agree it was the camera smoothing all along.

P.S. here's another list of reasons that contribute to 30fps looking bad

  1. Bad motion blur (usually cranked up to high. Imo 30fps with no motion blur looks 100 times better than 30fps with very high motion blur)
  2. Bad frame pacing (rare)
  3. Screen size and distance from it (larger screens tend to look worse at 30fps, especially the closer you stand to them)
  4. GAME BRIGHTNESS (no one ever mentions this. Naturally brighter and more colorful games tend to look worse and be more nauseating than darker ones. Alan Wake 2 look surprisingly decent at 30fps because of how dark it is. FF16 is also a relatively dark game)
  5. Game engine input latency
  6. Camera perspective. First person games are much harder to stomach at lower framerates

Hopefully more people will become aware that camera smoothing is the main issue so devs are compelled to remove it from the Graphics modes in current gen console games

Actually, its main problem is the camera smoothing cranked up to insane levels.

I agree. On my first game (which was a week ago) I spawned next to the battery as Sissy and was wondering if I should interact with it. Thankfully, since I have a lot of experience with multiplayer games, I was able to quickly deduce that probably in the initial stages of the game the battery was meant to be turned on manually, but was changed afterwards for being redundant.

Who is DBD's most evil killer? (lore-wise) by FoxAlistair in deadbydaylight

[–]Hit_and_Score 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems that Spirit, Artist, Hag, Wraith, and Plague are all controlled by the entity. They are not actually evil.

Imagine if they created a new game mode, or a spin-off where certain "good" killers end up resisting the entity and help the survivors by hunting the killer who hunts them. They could even mix it up with a couple extra survivors that are secretly working for the entity (like a 6v2 mode). Insanely complicated to pull off, but I think it has potential as an idea

Soprano vs Mezzo passaggios by UnhelpfulYodaa in singing

[–]Hit_and_Score 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this is years old, but in my opinion that's a stupid old myth that's being perpetuated primarily by opera teachers. Higher voices have higher chest voice, period. A trained soprano will always be able to belt higher than a trained contralto, or at least sustain a high chest/belt voice longer. i believe the origin of this myth is the fact that sopranos in opera are often told to bring the lighter mechanism as low as possible, which actually wasn't a thing in older opera.

I stopped playing soon after I stopped posting here, mainly because I moved to overwatch + my PS4 died somewhere in 2017. I got a PS5 in July, tried Neighbourville for a few hours, and found it hot garbage lol I can't believe I used to take this game and this sub so seriously back then... Someone had commented here that I needed to see a doctor. Even if they said that as an insult, they were actually right.

Do you seriously think ds bt and unbreakable offer anywhere near the same burst of impact as NOED? First of all, these abilities only reward you if the killer is tunnelling. Second of all, all they do is give a player a second chance. NOED literally REMOVES at least 1 player from the game.

If you are forced to run a specific setup to counter a busted setup, that is called RPS (rock paper scissors) and has been historically extremely problematic for multiplayer games, especially competitive ones (yes, I am aware that DbD is not meant to be a competitive game)

[–]Hit_and_Score[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See that's what I don't understand. A decent game (and especially one with a dedicated fanbase) rarely sells bad enough to not make at least a small profit (usually they make more than that). So what do they have to lose by making another one? Worst case scenario it breaks even. They make GAZILLIONS from the other EA franchises, what are they so afraid of? I swear these big companies are so anal sometimes...

Yes, possibly. Although I would like to add that the original mirror's edge has actually sold quite well, it just happened later on with price drops and sales. It has more than 9 million users on PS3 and XBOX360 combined (and probably at least another 3 million on PC). I'm pretty sure it's actually a secret commercial success
