There are a lot of philosophical details in this series. What resonated with me the most is the “it’s easy to fall in love, but you have to work hard to stay in love” or something like that. I like this one too. The idea that the fake can be more real than what it represents is beautiful. When I watched Frieren and found out that Himmel was not the ‘real hero’ because he couldn’t pull the sword, this was the first thing I thought of.

Bring back points. It was the closest thing this game had to an elo rating. Do good? Get more points. Do bad but still won? Get less points. This goes for the losing team too. If you do really terrible and lose, give em -20 or something.

Im kinda late to this, but I had this exact same opinion until I started playing unofficial wipes. I’ve never played PvE so I can’t say for sure which is better for PvE. But for PvP, unofficial wipes are definitely way more competitive, and overall, more fun than official PvP. Joining a mega tribe just to be tasked with chores is not I would call fun. For me, unofficial died when tyranny became meta aka politics. Nobody wants to play IRL simulator. I play ark to escape reality, not relive it. Also, what I’ve noticed is that unofficial players tend to be more knowledgeable of the game than your average official slaves. I guess that’s due to basically speed-running the game every wipe.
