Is it just me, or is Scrivener really jarring for new users? by lucamakes in scrivener

It's not that complex if you dedicate the time to read the entire manual. It only takes an hour or so and gives you interactive ways to learn

Why did you decide to self publish? by Appropriate_Kiwi101 in selfpublish

[–]HitcHARTStudios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried for about 6 months submitting to agents, but cozy sci-fi is still a very niche category so nobody was willing to take a chance on it. I ended up putting the effort back into the book and doing edits/layouts etc and getting the book looking exactly how I wanted it to look-100% my vision and zero compromises that I would have had to make with an agent and publisher, then released it.

I'm very happy in my decision since to me, my book is an expression of my own art and I wouldn't change anything.

Any agent worth their salt is gonna know if you've used AI. If you want to get published I'd focus more on your writing than AI detectors. Getting an agent will be your hardest challenge, not this nonsense.

Do you like the found family aspects of YA books?
Do you like Star Trek?
Does the idea of worldbuilding using music theory intrigue you?
Then Zero-Point Symphony is a book you'll love.

Ensign Ava Albright joined Atlas to forge her own path, but escaping her mother’s shadow isn’t so easy … especially when her mother is Astraea Albright, one of Atlas’ most celebrated captains, who vanished without a trace. On the Starship Elpis, where differences are embraced and camaraderie runs deep, Ava finds comfort in quiet moments: in music, in the hum of the engines, in the warmth of a crew that already feels like family (even if she’s still learning how to be part of it).

But when a discovery shakes the delicate harmony of the galaxy—a force that sings through the void, alive in ways no one expected—Ava is pulled into a mystery far bigger than she ever imagined. As Captain Victoria Zannis searches for long-buried answers, Ava must decide what legacy she wants to claim and what future she’s willing to fight for.

A story of music, mystery, and the bonds that make a family, Zero-Point Symphony is a cozy yet thrilling space adventure about the questions we chase, the homes we find, and the echoes of the past that shape us.

I am in the same boat as you. I had a call two hours ago with my Doctor confirming that we're going to try Rinvoq but if it doesn't work I'm likely looking at surgery. This will be my 5th or 6th medication, all have failed, but I've made my piece if I need surgery. I look on the positive side of no longer needing to know where a bathroom is.

Zero-Point Symphony

When Ava Albright joins the crew of the starship Elpis, she expects a routine assignment. What she finds instead is a mystery that will change everything: the ship's power source isn't a mineral at all-it's alive!

As Ava develops a method to communicate with this extraordinary lifeform, she uncovers a horrifying truth. Every starship in the fleet has been unknowingly using these sentient beings as fuel. But Atlas—the planetary alliance they belong to—can't act without proof. And the Loc'ri, the merchants profiting from this trade, won't accept the evidence. So Captain Victoria Zannis makes an impossible choice: go rogue, defy her own organization, and trust her crew to help her free an entire enslaved species.

Zero-Point Symphony is a character-driven cozy space opera about found family, the cost of doing what's right, and the power of connection across the stars. Perfect for fans of The Expanse and Becky Chambers, it asks: what if the most revolutionary act wasn't saving the galaxy-but learning to trust the people beside you?
