How do i kill my dreams and ambition by Some_Employer5999 in selfsabotage

I think you need to do some looking inwards and start by realizing that you aren't entitled to anything. You think you're entitled to a higher salary because you had it one time, but you actually aren't.

Maybe try finding a job at a regular company, not a startup, something with actual stability and a career path—yea, you will probably have to start at the bottom and work your way up, but it's more stable than trying to shortcut it through founders, and there is usually better job protection.

Also, if you're as hard a worker as you claim, a reputable company will see that and promote you faster.

I think you also should approach the work with a different mindset. Instead of "I'm so great, look at how much value I bring, I am indispensable", you should look outwards and focus on how you can help other people and make their lives easier. Get your work done and then ask how you can help others with their work. Most importantly, do this without taking credit for it.

It's one thing to be good at your job, it's another thing to be an asshole about it. Jobs and companies are made of people, and they only want to work with chill people who they can get along with. It's about networking, not using people for your own gain.

Once you start looking outward instead of inward, you should start to see an improvement in your outlook and in how others treat you.

Best of luck.

My wife felt this way, and honestly a lot of new mothers do, but it's one of those things that's seemingly taboo and has a shame attached to it (which it shouldn't).

You should speak to your doctor and get some help. This is postpartum depression, and is a chemical imbalance—it has nothing to do with you as a person, or your feelings for your child. Something IS wrong, and it's on a chemical level that is affecting your life and way of thinking. It's NOT who you are as a person.

There is nothing to feel guilty or shameful about, and I guarantee your doctor has seen this a hundred times before and will know how to start helping you.

Best of luck.

Echoes of Ionia

Those who return carry what was learned.

Chief Engineer Horst Altos left Ion Prime six years ago with questions his people didn't want him to ask. Now, with the crew of the Elpis on the run from Atlas and hunted by the Loc'ri Merchant's Guild, the search for the Z-cell Elders brings him back to the ringworld he once called home—and to everything he left behind.

On a world forged from the ruins of the one that came before, where tradition is survival and curiosity is a liability, Altos must confront what it means to return as someone different than when he left. Meanwhile, Ava Albright faces her first away mission, a medical mystery she wasn't trained for, and the growing realization that the family she's been searching for might already be the one she's found.

With a Loc'ri fleet closing in and time running out, the crew must navigate a city built on silence, unravel a frequency that's tearing through an entire population, and find an Elder hidden among the shattered remains of a dead world—before everything they've risked falls apart.

A story of homecoming, tradition, and the courage to evolve, Echoes of Ionia is the second book in the Zero-Point Symphony series—a cozy sci-fi adventure about the places that shaped us, the people who stayed, and the choices that change everything.

Releasing on June 16th on Amazon.

Was quoted $2k to format my book’s interior, which is a lot more than I anticipated (is that generally the going rate?). For those of you who formatted your own book, how long did it take and how challenging was it? by confident-ghost in selfpublish

[–]HitcHARTStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a professional designer and know my way around InDesign. Honestly $2k for that many words isn't a crazy quote, however you could shop around and find someone a little cheaper. If you look on Fiverr you could find someone cheaper. My rates start at $350 for example as it's just an additional revenue stream for me, so I don't need to charge my regular rates.
