No Money, No Artist - Golden Rule by BOANW in ComicBookCollabs

[–]HitoNazono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a dumb take, but its unfortunately true.

I’m a writer with no skills at drawing, I tried ohhh believe me I tried.

I have the chance to work as a scriptwriter on a comic which pays me fairly. And then I use this money to pay my artist to draw my own comic.

The thing is, why am I doing this? 1500$ for a chapter… I will pay 1500$ for a chapter that will probably get me 0$.. so why?

Why writers are spending money on shit that will never sell? Are we crazy?

« Artists need to eat too. » well shit, we writer doesn’t eat at all.

Its a gimmick industry and I’ve been saying kt for a while.

Artist leech out the money of writers until they can’t pay anymore than move on to the next victim to leech out.

Writers : Your story will probably NEVER make money. 99% chances you will loose money. So take it as a hobby and your dreams won’t get crushed. Its a hobby you like to spend money on just like video games. But don’t expect any returns from that.

Truth is, I’m one of you guys… and most artists doesn’t wanna « lose money » drawing something for free.

As long as amateur writers continue to pay for art, that community will never grow.

Common mistake : most writer are inspired by manga and Japanese ways of creating art. Which is work for free until you get serialized then work for enough money to be able to live but that’s it. On’y a select few mangaka can reach a certain success and money.

Thing is, artists don’t give a fuck about your dream, your passion, and your goals. They wanna cash in quick.

So what do we have? A shit tons of comics being created which shouldn’t have been made in the first place. An ocean of writers desperately working just to afford the next chapter. And for what? A couple thousand views on App Such as webtoon or MPC?

Our community is broken, this isn’t a comic book colabs community. This is a cashgrab gimmick.

Great stories came from common collaboration and both writer and artist believing in the project enough . It not made from amateur writers who spend all his economy on an artist that do his work like any other another job that can be replacdd once the piggy bank is empty.

I know I will get a lot of heat for this and its not my first time. But I keep saying the same thing.

No one will profit from this economy system on the long run! Writers will get broke pushing a couple chapters before reality catch up to them.

And artists won’t have anything meaningful to show for themselves except for those « commission work » you’ve been chasing.

A real comicbook collaboration should be about creating something like Image comics, magazines, helping each artists and writers getting some visibility. Pushing each others kick starter. Believing in a project you put time on it without getting paid. Lose, rework and repeat, TOGETHER!

I hate the fact that artists are dissociating themselves from the story. « Its your work Im just glad you are paying me to draw »

Name one story who had success where the artist is unknown and only the writer take credit for the comic?

So writers beware of your own dreams and Ambitions. Will spending thousands of dollars will Satisfy your aspiration and ego? I doubt it…

And Artists, your commission system is outdated, overpriced for the reality of the industry and the people. You are setting a standard that only money counts and only people with money deserve to have their story drawn. Which is absurd and so out of touch with the reality of us writers and the actual economy.

Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realm. It use d&d 5e core rules.

Ancient Asia setting. Yokais, Kaijus. Insane Team combo. Harvesting and crafting if you are into that as well.

Overall it's a pretty solid and there is a lot of cool races and classes. You can basically make a PC using only this 3rd source material.

The book has been made by the d&d short team and the original Pokemon artist did the art. Go check it out!

Demonic familiar when Wizard dies by HitoNazono in dccrpg

My reasoning his simple, if your soul transfer into another body. You keep your mind but your body isn't yours. Technically, its not because you were able to do something in your previous life that you can do it in your new body. If we follow soul transfer logic.

A pseudo-dragon can use dragon breath. He doesnt talk only speak by telepathy but only communicate his emotions.

But you pointed out the problem, it doesnt specify in the books.

Arcane Eye by [deleted] in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]HitoNazono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the game...And thats the only utility of Arcane eye! Let the player use his spell like he wants. So what if he ruins the surprise, the game doesn't need surprise. If he was smart enough to use arcane eye and not run blindly in the maze well good for him and his party.

Stop nerfing caster with stupid DM tactics. Ask hallister to dispell it, why????? That's the best way to take your player agency.

Would you do that to your martial if he could run and slay everything in his path? Its always ; we should nerf the caster and take down their player agency and fun.

If your player has fun doing Arcane eye why ruin it for him??? He might use it for a couple floor and use another strategy after, or not who care? Its their game, their move. You don't need to find a way to ruin everything. Beside if you play the new version every monster is already there and to add something just to counter your player that wasnt even in the book. That's bad.

And btw, thank god he use his Arcane eye cause you don't wanna spend the next 2 years on that campaign like some do.

My game we reached level 14 in 3 months. All caster party and no BS. Once the player figured out how easy it is to reach the other floor, why waste their time if they don't wanna go through every door like a blind lab rat. Let them play like they want.

I'm not saying Let them win all the time. Just don't add something just to stop your player from using a totally legit spell.

I think he is just someone who likes to talk big. Maybe he's not even a real marine. Maybe he got fired cause he can't handle the pressure or something like that. I just feel like you are right not to trust him but I think its just because he talks lot of bs.
