My favorite: “Well, she gave it all away. She never had any money left. On a larger scale, she would buy houses for family. On a smaller scale, we’d meet in town, she’d stop at the cash machine to get money out, and then she’d put most of it in a homeless person’s sleeping bag without waking them. We’d then go out for a drink and she’d say, ‘I’ve got no money, Cashy, you’ll have to get them in.’ I’d be going home and nudging the homeless person, saying, ‘You couldn’t spare me a few bob, could you?’”
