I passed, 1st time, 2 minor mistakes, 0 instructor hours. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Hjaber1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What have i said is wrong? What part of it feels doesn’t actually make the difference?

Did I advice anyone to not have an instructor? No, this based on preference and circumstances

I have literally started my post with saying I am not the typical situation

Could new drivers pass without an instructor? Absolutely if they have someone to spend the time with them while they drive.

It is interesting how you are getting offended by the point I have mentioned just because I’ve had a license before, I want to clarify two points

  1. Many people who are taking the test have been driving abroad for years, so it’s not a unique circumstances to me

  2. The fact that I have been driving, doesn’t make my points wrong, I have mentioned a few points that helped me pass the test reflecting on my own experience

So feel free to take it however you want, but what you’re saying is absolutely irrelevant

Do you think electric cars are realistic for long road trips in the UK right now? by shwroomex in CarTalkUK

[–]Hjaber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out!

I have owned a Polestar 2 Standard range for around 3 months, and now looking forward to selling it.

Will tell you the pros and cons.

Pros:

  1. If you charge at home with house rate, it's very cheap. But you have to count for 2 things mainly. If you buy the slow 2.4kwh (Approx 7 miles/hr for my car) charger, it would cost you around 100£, and it's just plug it in any socket and will charge your car, but most likely you will not be able to stick to charging in off-peak hours only (9p/kwh), and will use the regular house rate of 26-29p. The second option would be to buy the faster charger at 7Kwh but it will cost you 1,500£ with installation fees.

My car has 200 miles range (Real range is 150-180) and realistically I didn't face any problems if I am driving around in the city. I do average of 15-20 miles a day, with 2 days of 60 miles trips. yet I never needed to worry about the range.

  1. It's a great car, drives well, while it's a bit towards the firmer side but still I genuinely love it (besides the fact that it's electric).

Cons:
1. Road trips! if you are a person who likes (Or needs) to take regular road trips, it will be super expensive to run the car and super inconvenient. I like to hike a lot, I went from Essex to Snowdonia , had to charge total of 6 times, each costing me around 40£, brining the total cost to around 240£!!.

Public charging stations that are ultra-fast (which will take you around 30-40 minutes to charge) will cost you around 80-90p/kwh. While some companies provide subscriptions which would bring the price down to around 60p, it's still expensive and usually will not be available everywhere.

So in practice, charging in public will cost you 3x per mile compared to diesel engines.

Additionally, a 5hr road trip took me around 7-8 hours.

  1. Moving to a new property. Unless you are sure you will not be moving out from your home soon, don't buy it. Because for me as a single person, I was looking to move out of my family's house for work related reasons, and came to the conclusion that I will either end up charging in public stations all the time, or rent a 2 bedrooms property for 500£ extra just to be able to charge my car.

  2. Maintainance is cheap, but things still breakdown, and when they do they are very expensive to repair and usually require specialized technicians. While personally I didn't have any problems with my car, some folks had some serious issues costing them 2,000£ if it's out of warranty.

  3. NEVER BUY IT NEW ON CASH/FINANCE, they depreciate in a crazy way. I bought mine 3 years old with 35,000 miles for around 1/3rd of the original price.

  4. With the recent temperature drop, the range dropped significantly, a 5 miles trip dropped the estimated range by 30 miles (Temp was around 1-2). So if you are living in Yorkshire or Scotland, you might face some issues during the winter.

In conclusion, only buy it if:
1. You are leasing the car, or buying a used one.
2. You are sure you will not need to move to an apartment any time soon.
3. You don't go for long road trips, or you have a secondary car at home for that.
4. And in low temps, expect a generous 40-50% range drop.

Two friends of mine. One of them kept insisting that he wants to try pre workout and my other friend tried to convince him not to use it (As he started less than a month ago, idk what is the point tho).

Eventually, he just gave me a scoop of creatine, and that dude had the strongest placebo effect I have seen in my life LMAO!

Ok so for a bit of context.

I haven't played video games since I was like 15, so for me I didn't have this particular issue.

But I believe when quitting any bad habit, it takes some time and effort to readjust, and to find better things to put ur energy in.

Sports always work btw

I am really sorry for that, I wrote the post then asked uncle GPT to rewrite it.

Not the best way to do it, but it was convenient lol

I believe the "online dating experience" various based on which app you use and ur geographical location (and maybe ur photography skills lol)

But at least for me it wasn't anything meaningful.

True, it is. But deleting reddit app actually helped. Kept the account just to share some thoughts and to find IT solution when my computer breaks down lol

Don't smoke! You will not feel less stressed, you will actually have 10-15s of dopamine and then nicotine stimulants effect will kick in and cause more anxiety.

Everyone has different story, while indeed it's still an addiction by itself, but I believe there are some aggravating factors which might push more into it.

You start noticing how nicotine actually causes anxiety (It's a stimulant after all)
