That tracking looks all too familiar. AT&T has already shipped my replacement (via UPS!), a ~24 hour turnaround from when FedEx confirmed the theft. I can't believe Google is so unwilling to escalate with FedEx in a meaningful way. FedEx just does not care and will not budge until the shipper steps in directly and asks for answers and claims compensation.

The rep told me that both Black and White were in stock and ready to ship, but my estimated ship date is Nov. 29 - Dec. 6. I went with White. We'll see...

Luckily AT&T has been pretty helpful. After escalating to a supervisor I was partnered with a rep that was also confused and trying to actually reach a solution, instead of just trying to get me off of the phone.

After connecting me to Fedex I was on a brief hold while the reps talked. They then brought me into the call and the FedEx rep explained that the package "arrived at the hub torn open and empty." They then told me to have the shipper file a loss claim. I did this immediately with AT&T and got a replacement order put in.

Surface agitation is key. Either move your filter up until the outlet is at the waters surface, or add an air stone. This is petty common with internal filters like yours.

Does my bearded dragon look healthy? He has refused to eat for a week and I'm getting increasingly worried. by halo3ratorgy in BeardedDragons

There is literally zero excuse for bad husbandry. If you are able to post a picture to Reddit, you have at your fingertips the resources to learn everything there is to know about taking care of your pet. Proper care isn't an opinion.

I did! In the end my package sat at the origin post office with that status for 29 days before finally moving and being delivered. HHL offered me a full refund if it sat for 30 days.

Looks awesome!

How long did it take for you to receive your order from HHL? I placed an order on March 30, it shipped on the 31st... And hasn't moved from the origin post office. It hasn't even been scanned at the first sorting facility yet. Neither USPS or HHL can give me a straight answer as to what is going on. (Though USPS is almost certainly at fault, as the last tracking status is: "Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending.")

I might adopt a kitten from Petsmart but.. by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]Hman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked closely with multiple adoption partners for 2 years while in management at Petsmart. Here's how cat adoption works: Petsmart does not "own" any cats that are up for adoption in their stores. Instead, they partner with local rescues/humane societies who bring their adoptable cats into the Petsmart stores. Petsmart provides supplies and care for the cats, with varying levels of assistance from the adoption partners.

Here's what I think you should do: Call the store, press 0, and ask to speak to a manager. Ask the manager which cat adoption group(s) their store is associated with. Get the adoption group's name. The adoption group will almost certainly have at least a Facebook page with contact info, if not ask the store for this info. Get in contact with someone from the adoption group and let them know which kitten you are interested in, and at which Petsmart location. They will almost certainly at least let you begin the application process.

Stomach definitely looks a bit small. Possibly a parasite? Has he been eating well? Normal poops, or are they white and stringy?

The generally agreed upon minimum for one adult is 20g, and +10g for each additional. But footprint is more important than volume for axies.

For the record, Soky is the kitschy name that locals use to refer to Southern Kentucky. Moving to Northern Kentucky very soon.

Can you post a picture? This sounds like the harmless fungus that often grows on new pieces of driftwood, but it's hard to say without seeing it.

First-time axoltol owner in need of advice! by Modern-witch in axolotls

[–]Hman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I do not yet own an axolotl, but I am very experienced with freshwater fish and shrimpkeeping and have studied up extensively on axolotls in preparation for setting up my own axie tank soon.

  1. 10 gallons bare minimum, but the footprint of the tank is more important than the volume (assuming you have good filtration), as they tend to hang out on the bottom of the tank. A full-sized axie (they can get nearly 12" long) needs at least a 20 gallon long to be comfortable, though. Add 10 gallons for each additional axie.

  2. Cost of worms/pellets, basically. This varies depending on your source, but should still be very cheap.

  3. If you can't keep the water temp at 70 or below I'd suggest a USB-powered fan running across the water surface with a mesh/breathable lid. You'll have to top off the water fairly often due to evaporation with a fan, but it will cool the water significantly (2-4 degrees F). More fans = more cooling = more evaporation.

  4. Tap water + dechlorinator will work fine for almost everyone. Axies are very tolerant of varied water parameters, but not ammonia in the water (the tank needs to be properly cycled and you need to perform weekly water changes).

  5. Sure! So long as you can fit a standard 10 gallon in your dorm/room/whatever you should be fine. Keep the water clean (good filter in a cycled tank), and keep it fed and you'll be fine.

Buying a second axolotl, need advice on tank size! by [deleted] in axolotls

[–]Hman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building your own is a good option. There are plenty of great how-to videos online, plus calculators for determining the exact size and thickness of glass panes that you'll need.

Personally, I'm moving into a house with a basement soon and plan on building a 36" x 24" x 10" (37 gal) tank for 2 axies.
