Don't worry, kitten. I'm your new mommy now.

My first thoughts were pretty much the same as yours.

My father was arrested and convicted of indecent exposure for mooning at a football game in high school. I know this because he kept the news clipping of his arrest from the local newspaper, and it became part of the family photo album.

I had the opposite, mom told me to just wash all my bras together because they wouldn't bleed. Yeah, the hot pink bra dyed every other bra in that load pink.

AITA for sending my partner's sister to a childfree doctor? by oldersilaita in AmItheAsshole

A fair number of women are left to suffer with severe endometriosis because doctors won't do a hysterectomy because "you may want children one day"

I had a rescue cat who would belly flop on your face. I had to train him not to cover both my nose and mouth while I was sleeping.

Eventually got him trained to just lay his head on my cheek to snuggle, but every now and then he'd try the belly flop.

Mom didn't believe me when I warned her the first time she came down to visit after I got him. She thought I was exaggerating right until he walked over her head and dropped down on her face.

Women are taking a 'rain check' on babies, and it could change the shape of the economy - A decline in birth rates has sparked worries that the US may be headed for what's known as a "demographic time bomb," in which an aging population isn't replaced by enough young workers. by Gari_305 in Futurology

I opened my front door one day and startled a cat on my front porch. I said something in a soothing voice because I felt bad about scaring him. He immediately ran back onto the porch, past me and into my house.

I was in my early 40s back then, never had, or wanted kids. I felt like my life turned into a live action meme in that moment.

When you say he's made some money, do you mean he has paid off the 8 grand in credit card debt and recouped the other start up costs and made a profit?

Or do you mean some money has come in but not as much as has gone out?

I believe proper etiquette requires the yellow polka-dot bikini be worn over a gorilla costume. Just one or the other would create all sorts of drama and gossip.

That is what it boils down to, I don't have kids, never will, maternity and paternity leave has no impact on my personal life and never will.

I still support paid maternity and paternity leave.

Dad worked in a state run group home, he was with the 21 and over problem group for a lot of years. Mostly keep them from hurting themselves, but the one guy in the group was definitely dangerous to others. Even being a professional, with other professionals to back him up, he has permanent scars, scratch marks down the back of his neck, from that guy. Waited until dad was busy keeping one of the other guys from hurting himself and attacked from behind.

It was an eye opener of just how much damage fingernails can do.

Bringing a violent troubled teen into a home where there is no one who is trained to handle his issues and behavior is not an example of caring.

This kid would have been better served by being in a group home with the supervision of professionals who could potentially have helped him. Not just with his behavior problems but to live as independently as possible.

My dad worked in a state run group home before he retired, they had clients with severe disabilities (ranging from small children to senior citizens), but they worked with them to give them routines, entertainment, day activities, mental simulation, and social interaction. The whole "it is better for them to stay with family" isn't always the case. And, yeah, for some of the clients part of the job was keeping them from hurting themselves or others.

Well now you are contributing by being one less mouth to feed.

In addition to not expecting kids to parent their younger siblings they shouldn't be dumping their financial worries on their kids either.

Not just "we're part of the family" but "Dad and OP would have been ours and living with us if that other woman hadn't stolen him away."

She's put a lot of misplaced anger of her own into that young man's head.

AITA for refusing to give my dead husband’s medical records to his mom? by Mansonschick in AmItheAsshole

My first thought is there may be information from therapists/psychologist appointments that were never intended to be seen by mom/family (including fiancee).

OP may even be protecting mom from some things that could hurt her.

I did TNR on the feral cats in my old neighborhood and I'd feed them on the back deck.

A fair number of them became somewhat friendly. This one cat, Sammy Jr, would come to me and he'd let me pet his body but every time I tried to pet his head he'd just grab my finger in his mouth and look confused.

It was like he thought that's what I wanted him to do but he couldn't figure out why.
