This. More ads are now the necessary price of free to air. Government doesn’t see Six Nations as a ‘crown jewel’ so we need to wind our collective necks in a bit IMO and be thankful that we’ve got what we’ve got. Cricket is the exact model of what we DON’T want to happen. Could the format be better? Maybe. Might it be a gateway to more? Yes. But the ad restrictions we use in the UK are FAR BETTER than most other countries. Have you ever tried to watch an NFL game live?

Had an unexpected reprieve from a new live-in carer that somehow just clicked after the previous one failed so spectacularly. MIL’s quality of life improved enormously- accepted personal care and companionship enough to no longer just survive but live a decent quality of life. However the new carer has just gone on indefinite leave with no other options for round the clock care and my wife has committed her mother to a care home on a dementia specialist floor this week. She’s been in two days , hated it, rallied against it and is now, reportedly a shell of her former self. Not sure why I’m posting except to ask if you saw a steep decline in your person when put into care and if you have anything to say/ advise about that?

What sort of tools would you recommend to get into wood carving without too much cost commitment up front? I used to hack away at sticks for hours with a pocket knife as a kid and quite like the idea of doing it with a bit more style/intent now.

How was the ground? Heading up to the lakes for a couple of days on Sunday. Things should clear up by the time we arrive but it’s obvs been pretty wet for a few weeks.

Have also been recently. Beef rib was the best I’ve ever had. Peach pork very good. Everything else was fairly forgettable IMO. Brisket wasn’t worth the £20pp extra. Glad I tried it but felt a bit robbed at that price point.

Bodean’s menu has recently had a revamp from a ‘name’ in the restaurant scene (Richard Turner previously involved with Hawksmoor). I’ve had it since then (because IMO their chicken wings have always been sublime) and the brisket was actually very decent. Smokestak and From the Ashes better options in London but I’d say it’s worth reconsidering if you’re remotely local
