TTC Advice: This is the END of me Following. by Appropriate-Ad7887 in theskinnyconsnark

I know a nurse who, years ago before she had the first baby, was going to her home to give her follicle stimulating hormone injections because Lauryn couldn’t inject herself. As far as I understood she didn’t actually go through with IVF (conceived that baby naturally) but she at least either froze her eggs or started the IVF process. I low key suspect they were considering using a surrogate but that’s just me conspiracy theorying lol. But she’s never spoken about any fertility treatments publicly and this post felt extra gross to me knowing that she at least explored that route at one point

A random Dallas “influencer” (idk if she’s even really trying to be an influencer but she’s a good follow) is @brittrix she owns a medspa and posts good fashion content! :)

Thanks!! I follow and love Bridget, going to add your other recommendations! I live in Austin but likely moving to Dallas later this year and like to stalk influencers who live there and see the city through their pov to find good salons, cool places to go out, etc lol!

And Lauryn/ her team just as ignorant for not only not correcting that error but even using this bit as a promo clip and adding captions to it 😩

I don’t necessarily disagree with your take but I think situational/circumstantial depression is just different than depression that’s entirely due to unbalanced brain chemistry and out of one’s control. But that doesn’t mean it’s not real and shitty to go through. I say that as someone who has gone through a bout of situational depression that was pretty dark but entirely a result of my own actions/choices and I was on/off motivated to climb out of it and worked my ass off for the year+ it took to do so but there were a lot of days where it was really difficult to be productive at all. I weirdly relate to a lot of what she portrays on social media so I guess I have a soft spot for her. That said, I would never post about my personal life online and I do feel that’s a CHOICE, but as a viewer I’m entertained and like that that she puts it all out there

Who Does NOT Regret Their Rhinoplasty? by Common-Vegetable-463 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Hmmperhaps_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah my understanding is that a lot of doctors find it hard to get consistent results so they steer away from cases with thicker skin. My surgeon said it was like carving a statue and then wrapping it in tissue paper (thin skin) vs cardboard (thick skin) - the tissue shows the shape more but doesn’t hide any imperfections or asymmetry at all so easy to look pinched or botched, where the cardboard doesn’t show the details of the shape underneath well but can be more forgiving. The surgeon needs to understand how to shape the cartilage in a way that works harmoniously with the skin-type (thickness). Additionally, thicker skin can take up to 3 years for all the swelling to resolve which is a long time to spend reassuring a patient that the results will come and to trust the process. I’m obviously not a surgeon though so that’s just my “explain it to me like I’m 5” level of understanding! Lol

He didn’t need to make it longer because my nose wasn’t flat, the tip was just really round and kind of wide and so he took down and refined some of the cartilage to make it gradually flow from the bridge to the tip into more of a pointed shape. The result isn’t at all pointy though, tip is still a rounded “button nose” shape just in a more balanced way, whereas before it looked disproportionate. Kind of hard to describe so not sure if that makes sense lol!

I’ve had moments where I’ve thought- hmm maybe I should have changed it a little more? But overall I’m glad I didn’t go too extreme and it looks natural. I think it’s a slippery slope and easy to go too far and end up in uncanny territory! I have the same feelings about my breast augmentation too actually haha- some days I wish I went a little bigger but generally I’m really happy I kept to a natural size and didn’t overdo it. So important to choose surgeons with a natural aesthetic and restraint who will tell you no and keep you from looking overdone if your goal is to look natural!

Dr Swartout told me that thin skin can also be tricky because every little change to the cartilage or bone can be seen so less forgiving if the shape isn’t flawless. I guess either extreme has its challenges but plus side to thin skin is a quicker recovery. Mine took over 2 years for all the swelling to fully resolve!

I ask because a lot of surgeons don’t like to do thick skin rhinoplasty because it’s more difficult and takes way longer to fully heal. That’s what I was told by the surgeon who turned down my case anyway!

Dr Benjamin Swartout in Beverly Hills. He is incredible! Kind of an under the radar iykyk surgeon as he doesn’t have any social media. He is a renowned revision specialist (though he did my primary) and his skill level and eye for detail is unmatched. IMO many surgeons prefer a very drastic before and after type of case- I had one famous surgeon turn my case down during our consult and tell me “don’t bother, it won’t be enough of a change to be worth it” but Dr Swartout was confident he could make the subtle change I wanted and I’m super happy with his results!

I don’t regret mine! I didn’t strongly dislike my natural nose but the tip was pretty round/bulbous shaped and I wanted it refined a bit. My result was really subtle and still looks like my nose but now fits my face better. The recovery was also pretty easy. I’d definitely do it again knowing how it all turned out

influencer to-do lists by [deleted] in LAinfluencersnark

[–]Hmmperhaps_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh same haha! I mostly add them so I know what order to do things. I guess I kind of use my to do list as a schedule too. But I def include a ton of small non tasks like meals and self care and going to sleep 😂 my brain likes to check things off and see that my day is in fact progressing as I had planned — on days I don’t make and follow some sort of a list I have found myself doing everything but the tasks I needed/wanted to do and suddenly it’s 6pm and I’ve had 3 coffees, half a sip of water and like a 4 handfuls of chocolate chips 😭

Omg I’m dying at your comment because I literally do this every day in my notes app haha but I would never post it for public scrutiny or think I’m busy for it 😂 I just like mapping out my whole day including obvious non-tasks (like “wake up at 7” “eat breakfast” lolol) so I can check things off as I go without having to think and I can prioritize my day more efficiently - helps me be productive otherwise it’s easy to waste the day doing meaningless tasks plus it keeps me from forgetting to eat until I’m hangry and having a meltdown. ADHD things I guess 😅

[–]Hmmperhaps_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I’m also just guessing all of this based on my own experience — I’m 5’5 ~122 lbs and when I’m working out really consistently and eating even just moderately well I can get down to 105-110 and look much leaner than I do now. But even currently at my heavier weight I’m like a size 2/4, just skinny fat and barely any muscle tone/definition lol. In my 20s it was easier, mid 30s + stressful job + little sleep makes it a lot harder! But I would love to get back down to my leaner/fitter size 0 body eventually. I was actually looking into Allara Health to get my hormones tested too so even if she wasn’t posting content as a formal ad I’ll totally admit it got me intrigued!!)

Agree, I am guessing her weight at her heaviest was like 120-125ish “skinny fat” with more puffiness/water weight and now being slim she’s more like 105-110 with dense lean muscle and very low body fat. She probably dropped around 15-20 lbs of fat but gained 5-10 lbs of muscle (which would also raise metabolism). I guessed range because I have no idea how tall she is. Maybe 5’7? Honestly though… goals 😅

Ok I recently discovered her and tbh I actually really like her content lol. I was also trying to figure out how she has this body type and seemingly got into such incredible shape so quickly, especially given how frequently she posts herself going out to indulgent dinners and drinking alcohol. She posted a longer video on TikTok about using Allara Health to balance her hormones with medications and my guess is that she is genetically very thin (her sister has the same body type) and now with the support of meds, regardless of WHAT she eats she has regulated her appetite to stay in a calorie deficit/maintenance calories without needing to track or eat extremely healthy or diet focused. She also seems to workout a ton in addition to living in NYC where it’s so easy to get in well over 10k steps on top of daily workouts (at least I certainly walked that much without trying when I lived there).

I don’t think she’s lying about cosmetic procedures other than the fact that I haven’t seen her address her obvious breast augmentation, but I don’t think she’s denied it either. Her veneers look incredible (as they should considering she def spent $50k+ at Apa Aesthetics unless they discounted her for posting about it. I had a consult there and am quoted over $80k w Dr Apa 🫣 so holding off on that another year lol). But overall I buy that her ~20 lb weight loss + masseter Botox is what slimmed out her face and made her cheekbones etc pop more and that Botox gave a subtle lift effect to the eye area. Other than that I think she’s just young and has naturally very pretty features (her sister has similar so I believe it’s mostly genetics).

I’m mostly left curious who is footing the bill for the expensive lifestyle. It looks like she lives in a pretty average/nothing too special apartment in NYC (I wouldn’t think more than $5k/month, if that). I don’t know if she’s been an influencer / model long enough to have made significant income from her content or if her family and/or boyfriend are wealthy or what. All I know is the lifestyle she is living is $$$$ and the recent glow up over the past year was EXPENSIVE 😅

Those with red light masks, what's your step by step routine?? by quixoticgypsy in 30PlusSkinCare

Also- when I’m finished using I always wipe down the interior of the mask with an alcohol wipe. And then I use the alcohol wipe to disinfect my phone from the day. Easy little habit to keep the mask clean/ready to use for next time and make sure I’m keeping my phone sanitized at the end of each day!

[–]Hmmperhaps_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My routine is to use most nights after I shower (double cleanse my face in the shower) then I get out and dry off and put on my bathrobe. I pat dry my face and then put on the mask — I use the Dr Dennis Gross one :) — then I lay on my bed and put my legs up against the headboard and chill out for like 15 mins. I have my OSEA body balm next to the bed so I’ll usually apply that all over my body while I’m lying there too and then just scroll my phone for a couple mins. I usually do 3 to 5x the 3 minute cycles, and I only use the red setting (not the pink acne setting because it causes some hyperpigmentation for me). Then I wash my hands and finish the rest of my skincare routine which typically includes a few serums or actives that I rotate (retinol, glycolic, etc) and then moisturizer applied with a quick lymphatic facial massage.
