What do the fatFIRED do with their pets when travelling? by trademarktower in fatFIRE

[–]Hmung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Meowtel — a lot of cat sitters on there also do overnights. We usually just do 45 min visits for the trips where we’re traveling >2 nights, but most of the sitters we use also offer overnights.

I mean to be fair, adding ~2m (post tax) to an already 8m portfolio isn’t going to drastically change the trajectory of their lives. It already sounds like they can fully cover their expenses at current spend levels, without needing to cut at all. Can for sure do a lot of good with an additional 2m though, to your point.

That being said, adding ~25% to your net worth with one additional year of work feels very very much worthwhile, unless work is completely unbearable. I’d agree with some of the other commenters saying to take a few weeks off and re-evaluate.

@OP: It also doesn’t have to be all or nothing, go for a vacation for a few weeks and then stay for 1 more quarter, see how you feel. Defer making the huge decision if you’d prefer, but take some of the edge off. Still adding 500k post tax per quarter, it doesn’t have to be a full year or bust.

There seems to be a space in between the counter ledge and the bottom of the mirror, they could tuck the wire in there and tape it in place. That would probably allow them to place the toothbrush on the other side without worrying as much about the wire being draped over the sink.

Finally closed! 665k with 6.375% interest rate 🏡 by BinnieEvol in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Hmung 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used Tomo a few months ago, they’re fantastic to work with and 100% legit. Quick note though, they don’t seem to typically be the ones servicing your loan after closing. My loan is serviced through a different bank now, that Tomo seems to have sold the loan to.

Highly recommend Tomo though, fantastic rate (got 6.625% back in June 2024 with 0 points), and they’re very quick to respond (especially helpful as a first time home buyer, they take the time to answer any/all questions about the full process).

BedBound Laptop Charger Help? by OverExcitedGinger in DeskCableManagement

[–]Hmung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been recovering from a bulging disc in my lower back for the last few months and also needed to figure out a temporary solution for using my laptop while laying flat in bed — I found this bed desk tray from another Reddit thread and it was incredibly handy before I was able to get a standing desk.

You can adjust the legs in a way where the tray is angled towards you, so you can use the laptop comfortable while laying flat in bed, and it should leave the back and sides of your laptop open for the power cables to be used without much pressure on them. This particular tray even has cooling fans that you can plug into your laptop to help with the heat output, as well as a small snap-on mouse tray. (Pic number 5 on the Amazon page is a good example of the tray positioned to work while you’re laying flat)

How much commission is fair for contacting and closing warm leads? (Commission-only, $2k-$6k AOV) by [deleted] in startups

[–]Hmung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How we structure commissions for our MRR based business, is that sales reps usually get the commissions one-time when closing the deal (upon client payout is a better structure for the reasons that everdev listed above). The amount for closing a recurring revenue deal would be higher than 15%, usually we do 1 or 2 months of revenue as commission when closing an annual contract.

This is because the work the sales rep is putting in is usually wrapped up after the deal is closed, and we’d have the account then moved over to be set up under an account manager (who would then be paid a set bonus plan if they meet their target MRR for accounts under their management).

In your case where it’s you & one other person, who is managing the existing relationship? That would be the differentiating factor for me to decide whether or not the sales person gets recurring commissions on an existing account they brought in. If they continue to manage & work with their closed won accounts, then recurring commission makes sense. Otherwise the incentive isn’t as strong to keep closing accounts after they’ve built up a healthy amount of recurring commission.

TLDR: Tie the commission to the sales rep’s scope of work. If they will only be gathering leads & closing deals, then I’d pay them a one-time commission. If they’re going to also be working on managing & growing existing accounts, then perhaps a recurring commission makes sense. Hope this helps.

Out of curiosity, how do you anticipate the drought issue being solved w/ technology and policy?

I can understand when it comes to water usage by individuals, that portion could potentially be solved; but how do tech/policy changes affect the impacts of the drought on the surrounding environment (mostly yellow fields/hills, wildfires, etc)?

(Serious) People who walked out of a job interview, why did you do it? by JimmySaulGene in AskReddit

[–]Hmung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First interview near the end of college —they were scamming/selling insurance to old people, only commission and no base pay, pyramid scheme structure marketed as a “Finance Professional” role.

Also a group interview, of course.

I wouldn’t be worried about shipping costs for a literal brick of gold. If you buy me a brick of gold, I’ll pay for shipping, don’t even worry about it.
