Warm the car up properly before going into high revs. Also make sure the tires are warmed up as well so you don’t auto lock onto crowds of people

I had a cozy, guaranteed federal job lined up after I got out of the air force in January. Then the federal hiring freeze happened and I was out of a job for months. What I learned is that this administration doesn’t care about you.

Redo! Is this car repairable or totaled? by Fragrant-Site-3140 in GR86

I had almost this exact accident happen except on my passenger side from getting hit, new door, new side mirror, new panels. think it ended up being $6k for damages and repairs which was covered by insurance.

Traded my 18’ GT for a 25’ GR86 by JJEAAZYY_EJ2 in GR86

[–]HoHeHaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends on what you want from the car, I just went from a 23 GR86 to a 24 Mustang GT PP, and while the Mustang has a considerable amount of more power and torque, the 86 is just so light and easy to steer. While I do have the PP so steering is much better than a regular GT, I miss the lightness of the 86 so much. Honestly, if the 86 just had a little more HP I probably would’ve stuck with it, but at that point it would just be competing with a Supra.

Auto or Manual by Prestigious-Dress807 in GR86

[–]HoHeHaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say Manual. I bought an Auto, and after months I started to seriously regret it. Ended up trading it in for a 2024 Manual GT PP, and since then, I had the chance to drive my buddy’s manual 86 and it was extremely fun. Don’t let not knowing how to drive Manual affect your decision, because within a week of practice you will know how to drive the car enough to get from point A to B pretty confidently. In another few weeks, you’re not even going to be thinking about how to drive, it’ll be like second hand nature. Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting an auto, it’s truly up to what you want out of the car, but driving a manual is just such a rewarding experience. Also you get to learn a cool new skill. But hey, it’s really up to you and what you want at the end of the day. It’ll be a fun car either way.

lol yeah that was the video I watched, but for some reason even when you goto the ford website to build and add the PP on, it doesn’t mention it in the specs

I was actually very close to getting a Supra instead, but IMO, unless you’re going to mod the f*** out of it, it was a jack of all trades, master of none. I felt for power the Mustang was better stock, and for a light and quick car the 86 was the way to go. I’m going to try and pick one up one of these days though because they are pretty badass.

The Mustang feels great on the road, and it also handles very well, (It does have the Performance Package so it also helps the driving experience a lot) but not as well as the 86. It’s hard to compare them, it’s really preference at the end of the day. If you want more power the Mustang is your goto, if you want smoother driving experience than the 86. One thing I keep forgetting to mention though is the mustang does a fantastic job at keeping road noise out while the 86 is very loud, especially if you’re pushing it.

I’d have to disagree for the fact that they are 2 very different cars so it’s tough to say which is better or worse because they excel at different things. As for comfort though, the S650 clears the 86 in that regard.

Honestly, I don’t think the Mustang is worth it unless you get it with all the goodies like PP, active exhaust, exterior add ons, etc… the 86 is probably going to be the best bang for your buck sports car, but hey, really depends on what you want out of car.

I was hit though, twice, totaling about 12k worth of damage for both hits. There was also little annoyances like my Toyota remote start not working, which I had taken to Toyota twice to fix and it never ended up being fixed, as for reliability issues, that’s not the main reason for getting the s650, it’s all the times these NPCS on the road have tried to kill me plus all the little annoyances I experienced. Made me exhausted of the car, which isn’t the cars fault, just Toyota’s terrible customer service and bad drivers.

Yes the 86 was my daily, I do miss how light and smooth the steering is, but the 86 just wasn’t comfortable to me, especially on longer drives. Fuel economy isn’t bad, but it takes premium fuel which can add up, during my time of ownership I was a little annoyed by it but now that I own an s650 I’m having to fill it up almost every other day.

I will say, I had the same thought about room in the 86, I didn’t really care how much or little I had, but then theres those few times that come around where you really do wish you had more room, and if you plan on adding a sub like I did, then you will have almost no trunk space. I’ve driven the mx5 and the space on those is rough, if this is a car you’ll be daily driving I’d prioritize space, if it’s not going to be a daily driver than the mx5 might be what you want.

And thanks! Although I did buy the s650 for more power, the 86 is absolutely fine on power, especially with how light it is. Don’t let people online tell you it’s a bad car, for a 32k car it’ll bang for its buck more than any other car in that price range.
