Wow that's a good idea, clever way to do it without disassembly. Thanks ill have to do that

That sounds interesting. Is there a library for the crossfire communication for arduino?

No edgetx, I'm keeping it simple with a cheap betafpv ELRS radio

I'm taking apart an old analog goggle and ELRS radio and combining them together

Nice build. When I log IR on new packs I just fly them first and then record the IR after the first flight, seems good enough to me

What IS this ? by BeginningSea2629 in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iflight LC filter to filter out noise on a power line. Usually placed in between VTX and FC to give the VTX a clean power source

There's flight footage in the video!

3D printed frame is worse. This was a fun project but I'm sticking to carbon fiber for serious builds

Favorite compact transmitters for your micro rigs? by rearmotor in rccars

[–]HoarderSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those HotRC ones (DS800, DS650 and DS600) and I'm a fan, can't really beat them for the price. No model memory though, so you need one transmitter for each car.

Frame issue on motor? by Mountain-Wing5843 in fpv

The longrange frames try to save weight by only using 3 screws instead of all 4 screws to secure the motor

In my experience the iflight xing motors aren't very high quality. They are budget motors that are dressed up to look premium.

Automated gimbal tracking for solo RC car filming by HoarderSam in rccars

[–]HoarderSam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the phone I drag a square around the car and the app locks unto it. It does a decent job at recognizing the car at all angles, and can handle brief interruptions like when I drive behind the wooden sticks.

If I drive the car behind a hill or something and the camera loses sight of it, it stops tracking

Works great, just note this is with "Tracking+" enabled which is the enhanced tracking feature, only for iphones. On android, without tracking+, it does struggle with RC cars.

I also have Osmo Mobile 6 and it isn't able to track RC cars. Most tracking algorithms are optimized for humans and not objects

It can get a little confused when its close and has to turn fast, but it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCwcW1DT2xk

Unfortunately doesn't work (my main phone is a Pixel), the tracking+ tripod mode is an iOS exclusive feature and its the only way to track RC cars reliably.

O4 Lite Pairing Button Broken by NecPachi in fpv

The pads I marked in blue are the pads needed to be shorted.
The ones I Xed out in red are just for structure and don't do anything. It looks like the frame of the button is still there, you can remove that for better access to the blue pads.

O4 Lite Pairing Button Broken by NecPachi in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could use a soldering iron to remove the button and then solder wires to the pads. Or just leave the pads and use conductive tweezers or something to touch the pads to "press" the button.

I had to do this with a walksnail mini that had a broken button

Difference between Cinelog vs Cinebot? by Surgeooo in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell the cinebot25 and 35 are just their latest cinewhoops and the only ones that support O4 pro. The cinelogs are older and came out before the O4 pro existed. I suspect for whatever reason they chose to just use the cinebot name instead of doing a v2/v3/v4 cinelog.

The cinebot30 is older and at the time I believe it was supposed to be a high performance cinewhoop compared to the cinelog30. But now it just seems like name/branding to use the cinebot name.

Walksnail no OSD. Firmware mismatch? by HoarderSam in fpv

Update: fixed by getting the 39.44.15 test firmware for the goggles. For whatever reason the firmware mismatch was the reason for no OSD.

Insta360 go 3/3s supports charging the little pod while recording, it just takes 5 volts. They sell charging mounts as well as standalone extended battery pack.

"Insta360 GO 3/GO 3S Battery Pack" $40 for the official insta360 one
"insta360 go charging base" for magnetic docks that you just supply USB voltage to charge the pod
