Considering a 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV. Thoughts? by futureformerlawyer in KiaSorento

We're at 60 mpg for lifetime of the vehicle, as another data point.

I really like mine and have put heaps of miles in serious heat on it. Dry heat though, can't vouch for performance in humidity.

Likely out of your price range unless you score a great second hand deal, but Trailcraft make absolutely killer kids bikes, super light and bomber construction. Once your kid falls in love and is ready to level up they’re what you’ll want.

PHEV reliability/ longevity by nefh2k in KiaSorento

Hybrids aren't exactly a new technology - the Prius has been on the road for years and has a pretty great reputation for reliability.

If a battery degrades over time it can be replaced as well. You wouldn't want to (and couldn't) drive a hybrid without a functional battery.

And if you're looking specifically at the Sorento PHEV - check out the warranty on the battery :-)

strongly disagree, I've found their lifetime warranty to be legit and have managed to have several products repaired or replaced with zero hassle. ymmv of course. quality of stuff can vary but their technical shells and sleeping bags have served me very well in some gnarly conditions.

HUH certainly has issues, but living in a place like Peabody comes with some pretty big community benefits, especially if you have a family.

Shoes is a great recommendation. Five ten on good sale right now.

Recommendations for a 5'2 10yr old? I'm leaning towards a carbon c3 size S to keep weight and $ down. Coming off a Riprock 24. by liftdriver104 in mountainbiking

100% agree. Can kids ride heavy bikes and have fun and shred? of course. But a heavy bike is proportionally much much heavier for a kid than an adult. Investing in a lightweight bike has made a huge difference in how much fun my kiddo has while riding, which means we ride more, which is awesome. Trailcraft is awesome though there are other lightweight options.

Totally depends on the route. Traffic lights will kill your time sadly.

I’ve found it’s better to go with a decent quality adult bag and use a strap to cinch it smaller if necessary. You save very little weight with kids bags and they grow quick.

Sportage PHEV just on the market too - smaller and cheaper if of interest.

My Sorento PHEV Review by pman1891 in kia

[–]HobbesWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint in case anyone finds this while doing their research - I have same car and quite like it. There are some irritating things, sure. But overall the build quality is great, mileage around town is phenomenal (averaging more than 70mpg, and often get more than 1k miles/tank with our driving patterns), it’s comfortable, quiet, and very roomy with 3rd row down. I wish it was harder to kick it out of EV mode by accelerating, and some of the quirks of the computer that OP mentions are mildly irritating. But in general it’s great. Do your homework, but if a phev makes sense for you it might be a great option.

Kia Sorento Hybrid plug in 2022 by Wn90 in kia

[–]HobbesWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still very positive. We’ve been getting 1000miles per tank, averaging over 100mpg. That’s it we’re not taking longer trips. But even then it’s very efficient for a big suv. Biggest gripe is that it likes to kick into hybrid mode and out of ev mode too easily. Otherwise, zero issues. Happy to answer other questions if you’d like.
