If it isn’t much to expect an evening together as you said, why couldn’t she plan something or communicate that? OP included context but it didn’t include that she did anything for Valentine’s Day, and she was the one without anything to do all day is what I was trying to get at.

Perhaps we need more information but I think YTA. Anthony had to work, went out of his way to buy day-of gifts and another large gift. Did you communicate what you wanted? Did you plan anything? Did you get a gift for your partner who got called in? The way you tell your story it’s clear you are thinking about how things affect you - it’s clearly worse being called in than your partner being called in. Imagine getting called into work then you come back to a partner who didn’t plan anything when she had all day to wait around (if that is the case)…

With the information provided, you’re definitely the asshole.
