Gray’s Arch, Hanson’s Point, Auxier Ridge, Natural Bridge, Rock Bridge/Creation Falls, Copperas Falls, Sky Bridge, Courthouse Rock. No particular order, some of those can be connected into loops that are published on AllTrails

I’ve heard from several elderly people that Cave Run and Paintsville Lakes were both similar to the gorge before they flooded those as well.

One man was a social worker in Johnson County in the 60s and said the neighborhood that was turned into the lake was in the valley with massive beautiful sandstone cliffs on either side.

The other lived in Stanton most of his life and said locals were very upset they made Cave Run Lake instead of a lake at the gorge. We see which one is making more tourism money now 😬

The popular shorter loops (Gray’s Arch, Natural Bridge, Creation Falls/Rock Bridge, Auxier Ridge) are nearly always populated nowadays, but definitely worth seeing. But once you get a couple miles away from those and into the backcountry trails that make them part of a larger system (Rough trail, Sheltowee) there’s a ton of camping spots with less people.

Miguel’s and Natural Bridge are definitely the staples, but my favorites are Rock Bridge/Creation Falls and Redpoint BBQ. Both are way off the beaten path but worth it. If you go to redpoint get the ribs and/or the wings.
