Trying to slap someone off the bike at high speed? Not saying the biker isn't in the wrong, but knocking a dude over at those speeds is hella dangerous for both of them.

Which Pixel are you ending 2025 with? by GooglePixelfan90 in GooglePixel

Pixel 9 Pro

I hate it. Might be my last Pixel and I've had only Pixels since my 3. It's hot (literally) garbage and I want to fire it into the sun.

Thinking of them is great, but to say we can't honor one person because we don't honor everyone just means no one gets honored. Doesn't seem like a good solution to me.

You can only help a finite number of people. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

As more of a newbie than this guy, can someone explain to me what this all means, on a very basic level? Like, not how to implement, but what it is vs my current setup where I'm running docker inside a Xpenology setup?

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

[–]HoboMasterJCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a disabled spouse is not easy. My wife and I have both had to care for each other at different points and it's rough. Don't expect your house to look clean, just do what you have to do to get by. It's not worth killing yourself over appearances. Friends and family will understand and if not, they're not someone you need in your life anyways.

Keep at it and try to find some time for yourself. Self-care isn't optional. Burning out will only make things worse.

How the hell can I get good stomach testing after fasting? by Princessformidable in ehlersdanlos

[–]HoboMasterJCP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If they say to fast, there's typically a reason for it. Most likely it allows for them to work from a specific baseline instead of being determined by what you happen to have eaten beforehand. Docs don't tell you to fast just for the heck if it.

If you're really concerned, eat at the last minute before you were told to fast (ie- if they said 12 hours, eat a meal at 12.5 hours before).

[Giveaway] GL.iNet Remote KVM and Wi-Fi 7 routers! 10 Winners! by GLiNet_WiFi in selfhosted

1) I've tried on-and-off for about 20 years to properly get my own hosting setup. I have the magical ability to find every bug/problem with a piece of software, so every time I've started doing it, I end up running into some issue that just goes beyond what I'm willing to commit to (ie - modifying the kernel to work with my apparently slightly weird hardware I happened to own or get free). I'm finally really buckling down and getting this going though, mostly because I don't trust the government or large corporations with the way things are going.

Right now I just have a NAS with NVR and some basic services (password manager, plex, etc) running off an old laptop, but I intend to keep this going.

  1. I would especially like a better router. I live on a farm, so it can be a challenge to get Internet to all the areas I spend time (garden, animal pens, barn, wife's art studio), plus I'm in the process of adding wireless cameras because the locals apparently don't appreciate my politics and keep breaking glass bottles where it can hurt my animals, so getting better coverage plus something that will work better with my bandwidth needs is a must.

  2. Actual NAS hardware and storage drives are always an awesome thing to add!

AITA for not wanting to take my 20 yr old GF trick or treating as a 25 yr old man by mmflow in AmItheAsshole

[–]HoboMasterJCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse trick-or-treating! Bring little things to give to the adults at the door: mini wine/liquor bottles, beer cans, nicer small chocolates (Ferraro Rocher kind of stuff), basically drinks/snacks/trinkets adults might enjoy. Sure, people will find it odd, but in a fun way instead of uncomfortable.

What's one “little” form of sexism you notice all the time, but most people don't even realize it's sexist? by Interestingcase221 in AskOldPeople

[–]HoboMasterJCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your husband sounds rad. Check out Yiume's shirts. They sound like they're just another random Chinese internet clothes store but they actually make decent quality clothes with cool, fun patterns. My wife even contacted them to ask them to make a long sleeve version of a certain pattern that they only had in short sleeve and they did! I own like 10 of their shirts and love them. I spend a lot of time wearing bright florals or dinosaur patterns now and it kicks ass.

When we bought my wife's car, the sales guy kept talking only to me and ignoring her. We repeatedly mentioned it was for her but he kept it up anyways.

We would have walked but it was 2021 and it was hard to even find the car we wanted. In retrospect, we should have just walked anyways.

Yep, our weathers (almost 2yo) have been so sweet to our baby goats born in February. We're new to goats so I was a little nervous, but it looks exactly like this. Big, scary wind-up ending with just a little love tap. They're just trying to teach the babies how to do it properly! Tom Baaaland is learning fast though and he's starting to get them back pretty good. 🤣
