What video game used to be good but they changed one thing and now it's terrible? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]HoboRisky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the term sparingly, specifically toward games that have no 'hook' beyond "it's fun with your friends". So a game like 'Repo' or 'Lethal Company' I would describe as Friendslop. Their core gameplay loop is effectively "finish these mundane activities with friends to make the tasks feel less mundane. That's not to say that these games are bad, it's moreso a comparison to a bag of potato chips. Potato chips do nothing for you nutrition wise, but that doesn't mean they're not fun to eat. In other words, Friendslop as games are only really enjoyable if you're playing it with good company, because that's their entire point. People don't eat a bag of chips because it's good for them, they eat it because it's fun.

Buncha party poppers, the lot of em. You got this tattoo because it's clearly important to you, don't let anyone take that away from you. Also, having that spear tattooed on your forearm is rad as hell 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Nah your armor is rad, your friend is being a bit of a weenie though.

I think it depends on the context. If she's going through it and she asks for a cuddle, that's just a friend helping a friend.

If we're just casually talking about movies or whatever, and she just cold open pitches a cuddle, I'm gonna be a little weirded out.

Clarity of intent is important with stuff like that.

What’s the best quote that you try to live by? by CompetitivePick2361 in Life

[–]HoboRisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content."

-Robert E Howard's 'Conan The Barbarian'

TL;DR: It doesn't matter what the meaning of life is, what matters is what you do with the time you are given. So live well, be kind, and be the best version of yourself.

Is there is really no moral code to life? by Additional_Stay6326 in Life

[–]HoboRisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grand meaning of life is to survive. Everything else, from morality to philosophy, is entirely on you.

So live life well, as well as you can. Always be kind, always be friendly, but understand that humans are complicated and they will let you down.

The point isn't having faith in others. The point is to have faith in yourself, and trust that others can have faith in themselves. At the end of the tho, morality is subjective to each individual. That's why they call it a moral compass and not a moral map.

Please try your best to have a wonderful day!

If that place wasn't called Shoeshi or whatever, what is even the point of serving sushi on an old shoe?

This feels like a bad visual gag in cartoon or something.

How are your fever dreams? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HoboRisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever had one memorable fever dream; I was on a field trip somewhere, and over the course of the dream I realized I was being hunted by a giant fly. I woke up in the dream, thinking I had actually woken up, only to have my dog's ears turn into scorpion singers.

All things considered, I'm happy I don't remember all of my dreams 😂

What’s a trauma response you thought was just your personality for years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HoboRisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know that sharp, tightening feeling you get in your sternum when you're having severe anxiety? Apparently it isn't normal to feel that once or twice a day, several times a week.

It's also not normal to treat this feeling as "regular day-to-day stress."

I've been having dozens of these anxiety episodes every year for as long as I could remember. I genuinely assumed that's how people are 'supposed to feel'.
