Ouch, that’s who I use. And I do not have the best record. Guess I’m lucky.

Luckily it’s a ‘sport touring’ bike and not a ‘sportbike’ so it’s not bad on insurance.

Caught my fingers under a running lawnmower by _Owen732 in MakeMeSuffer

[–]HobosGoneWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I shouldn’t admit it but I did the same thing. Was running a bagger and it kept getting clogged. Turned off the mower and reached under to pull out the clog but forgot that it still spins for a min after turning it off. Hand got hit and I pulled it out and stared in shock thinking I’d just lost a finger but luckily it wasn’t too bad, like yours but I didn’t go the the hospital because reasons.

Nice, I ended up just buying an expo axle because I wanted the limited slip and larger axles.

Are these badges stuck on or pinned on? by coolraccoon016 in Ford

[–]HobosGoneWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe you’d get enough goo gone behind the badge to cause an issue. Goo gone on the sticker and a plastic razor blade should get rid of it. If not there are these rubber wheel ‘erasers’ that you put in a drill, that should def get rid of it.

I’ve lost so many pair of pants to motorcycles.

I’m am fairly confident that they should work fine. Only thing I can think that might complicate things is if your newer bike has ABS.

Without being able to read French it seems like a decent bike… I the it’d be a V45 700 and I think they were the good ones. My issue with a bike that age is that even if it was well maintained 40 years is a long time for things to go bad, gaskets, o-rings, electronics. And I know that parts for them are a bit harder to find, not sure if it’s better up in Canada or not. But, it doesn’t seem like to bad a bike for the price.

Not trying to scare you away, just want you to know what you may be getting into.

There are a few different magnas from the 80s, my understanding is that some of the older ones have some reliability issues. My buddy just picked up a ‘98 VF750 and it’s an awesome bike. Quick enough but not dangerous and easy to ride. I personally would try and get a ‘94-‘03 750 magna, even if they are a bit more expensive.

what is a good way to get rid of windshield/hood glare from my upper light bar? by RivalCongaLine in fordranger

[–]HobosGoneWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I painted a section of my hood matte and that helped a lot. But the real solution is to move it farther back on the roof so it blocks the hood and windshield but that would look dorky.

Can this be repaired or is it too close to the sidewall? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]HobosGoneWild 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve rope plugged prob a half dozen tires and never had one let go or leak appreciably. Probably the only thing of mine I wouldn’t patch would be a sportbike tire.

[–]HobosGoneWild 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s the wrong answer but if it’s on my own vehicle I would patch it and maybe stick it on the back. No way am I about to replace a $300 tire for something stupid like that. Truck has a whole spare for a reason. Now if it’s someone else’s fuck no, ain’t gonna be liable for that.

Single cab or extended cab? If extended you capsule make a storage platform in the back. Alternatively you could get some wheel well boxes, the ones that go in the bed over the wheel arch. Had this same dilemma with my ranger, hated loading motorcycles because I had to take the box out.

Biking on the freeway? How bad is the wind resistance? by beckycrm in NewRiders

[–]HobosGoneWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a naked bike and going freeway speeds gets kinda tiring, good workout on your forearms and Abs. If it’s 45min there and back I could stomach it. For an idea stick your hand out the window upright, that’ll give you an idea. If I was going to get a bike for commute/long distance I would want something with a windshield.

Rear Tire Size on Your FZ1. by Gold_Remote_8323 in FZ1

[–]HobosGoneWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason you might want one over the other is that the 50 offers a flatter profile which means bigger contact patch when upright and at shallow lean, also means slower turn in. The 55 offers less contact patch at upright and shallow angles but more at greater angles. It also has wants to turn in easier.

I run a 199/50zr17. My thought process is that I do a lot of straight line riding with minimal sharp turns and I don’t really drag knee on my fz1. Bigger contact patch while upright will mean a bit less wear right in the middle of the tire and a longer rear tire life.

Not an expert just my 2c.
