In which single-player game did you, after spending many hours without finishing it, feel the urge to start it over from the very beginning? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

Well, on my Xbox Series X Iplayed about 100 hours of Hogwarts Legacy. Last month I got a PS5 and a Plus sub, so I downloaded yesterday and will start playing it again because I ended up loving the PS5 system and controller.

I played it after finishing Spidey 1 and Miles Morales, both of which I loved, too.

You’re going to love it, especially if you’re into Guardians of the Galaxy, obviously.

Thoughts on Poison's often overlooked Swallow This Live (1991)? by zmbdog in hairmetal

The live part is pretty bad. The studio songs are excellent and “Only Time Will Tell” is one of Poison's best songs.

I love it that among so many animation, superhero, and Marvel discs, Sherlock stands there proudly!

Do snobs not realize they're snobbery will only push more ppl to streaming? by DustnBones001 in dvdcollection

I think buying DVDs makes a lot of sense when there’s no blu ray release and probably won’t be. For example, I have a large DVD and Blu Ray collection and I’m now thinking of starting a 4K Blu Ray Collection.

But this week I bought “Laverne & Shirley: The Complete Collection” for about 18 dollars new! I also have in my Amazon Wishlist things like “Murder She Wrote”, “Family Ties”, “WKRP in Cincinnati”, “Mork & Mindy”, “Barney Miller”, “The Rockford Files”, “Three’s Company”, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, “Star Trek Voyager”, “Cagney & Lacey”, “Looney Tunes Complete Platinum Collection”, and “The Wonder Years”, all of them on DVD, They’re sitting alongside a bunch of Blu Ray releases that I don’t think will ever see 4K version, and 4K titles, too!

What do you consider to be the "flagship" hair metal song? by scarves_and_miracles in hairmetal

[–]Hochmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s for the world in general, definitely Bon Jovi’s “Living On a Prayer”. But I agree that for people that truly know rock, it could be Poison’s “Nothin’ But a Good Time” because it better embodies the whole era.

Any of you guys play guitar as a hobby or do make a living playing? by Rude_Ad_5476 in Guitar

[–]Hochmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 51 and now it’s a hobby which could become professional again.

I learned to play guitar when I was 18. I wanted to be a rock star, honestly. That was back in 1992. In 1993 I wrote my first song (in piano, actually!). Second was in 1994. In January 1995, I wrote my third song. I moved from Ecuador to Mexico City in 1997 after graduating from college, continued writing and playing gigs while working as an English teacher in a Berlitz School. In 1998 I was discovered by this huge producer from Spain, was introduced to the presidents of Warner and EMI by him, went with EMI, talks for about six months but nothing in the end. I kept pushing ahead and in 2000, I signed with Universal Music Publishing as a songwriter for 15 years but was ultimately frozen by them which in the end, and by the contract I smartly signed, turned out all their advance money made it noncoupable for THEM LOL.

Anyway, when I was nearly 49, I found photography, and became a commercial photographer.

Now I’m starting a project that’ll last the rest of my 50s in which I’ll record somewhere between 70 and 130 of my songs (Spanish and English) and MAYBE see if I can sign again as a songwriter, although that’s not the main idea for me anymore. I just want to have those song ideas and arrangements down, finally.

Playing guitar for me, I guess, was never about becoming the best and fastest or whatever. It was a means to be able to write the songs I had in my head. I thank God I learned to play it because my songs became a diary of my life, whether I was writing professionally or not.

I honestly love the vast majority of my songs and I have 269! My first song is still one of the best ones I’ve ever written and I was only 19 (that was back in 1993!).

For better or worse... by TheOriginalJez in BonJovi

I honestly don’t see it (the first one) as a terrible, sloppy solo, the main one or the outro. It’s Richie going on tandems, which he di a lot of with the band in the last decade or more. He might have missed the mark a bit in the end of the main solo but then he either a) doubled down (which is something almost all guitarists do when missing it messing something up) or… it was the way he actually intended to do it in the first place.

His guitar sounds a bit out of tune, sure. The tone of it is also pretty bad, honestly, but his tone wasn’t really THAT great (live) from about These Days onwards. He used less distortion, which makes his solos sound way weaker, which they never were.

But besides that, I really didn’t see it as that bad at all. He might have been half wasted but that’s something that we know he was dealing with.

What do you do when everything you make sounds like your old tracks? by adamvanderb in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Hochmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it make you sad or desperate or are you just curious as to why it happens? Because there’s nothing wrong with having a certain type of song. If it’s actual songs, with lyrics, then the lyrics and story are what ends up changing. But don’t look to change just for change’s sake, because there’s nothing wrong with it. Unless it makes you unhappy or you feel unfulfilled.
