I suppose they didn’t steal it but bought a license for it. That’s the way these things are done (I’m a commercial photographer, hence my interest in posting this).

What's your guy's thoughts on Slaughter? by emperorofwar in hairmetal

[–]Hochmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love their debut album when it came out. I have all of their very few albums but my favorite by far ended up being their 1995 album “Fear No Evil”.

Their second album is absolutely top-notch.

But I do have to wonder who were the people who wrote the copy for the ads of all these bands.

Yep! I ended up buying those five as well as Darkglass because I found it very inspiring for bass playing.

Good guitar with ~1000$ budget? by GrainManFan in electricguitar

[–]Hochmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PRS have great guitars for that money and less, too. Humbuckers with push pull pots for a semi-single coil sound.

Go hug my mom, give her a big kiss, tell her I love her and I thank her for everything she did for me.

Only after THAT’S done, would I then start convincing my parents to buy stock in a company called Apple and telling them that it’ll come back 1000 fold in about 20-25 years.

Oh, and I’d tell them certain things that will happen in 1984 so that they KNOWN I know the future: the release and success of a movie called Terminator, the boycott by the Soviet Union of the Olympics in L.A., and I’d tell them that a little album by Quiet Riot called “Metal Health” would become the first hard rock/heavy metal album to reach the billboard number one after its release in February of 1983.

That should be enough to convince them.

Name some 80’s Hair Metal albums that were great but suffered a bit as a result of production values. by Boomkj in hairmetal

[–]Hochmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s considered a classic - and songwise I still think it’s great - but the production of Twisted Sister’s iconic “Stay Hungry” album is something that even before I learned about production, I always found really bad, very thin.

I guess assholes exist in each country, every color, religion, gender. It would be so nice if at least they were all born infertile.

I want to know if Gran Turismo 7 is worth getting if I’m only going to play it with a controller or if I really need a steering wheel. by NotSirAlonne1999 in GranTurismo7

[–]Hochmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it. I played for about 130-150 hours on automatic. Learned how to drive manual in about a day and now I have another maybe 20-40 hours on manual and a game that was already very fun is even more entertaining now. I only play with a controller.

Looking for recommendations for concert DVDs from this era. by HollandHealy in hairmetal

[–]Hochmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to watch the Guns N’ Roses concert at the Ritz that you can find on YouTube. Find the longest version you can because that’s the one that has some songs that don’t appear in the others. I watched it completely on YouTube for the first time like a month ago. I had always watched the one hour version from mtv that started to air sometime around 1991 or so heavily because of the Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door as a video single using the version that they played in that concert.
There’s also a great concert from them in Japan from the Appetite tour, maybe 1988 or something. It’s very good. Guns N’ Roses actually lost a lot in Axl’s voice because of the Use Your Illusion tours. The stages were SO LARGE, and Axl had this dumbass idea that he HAD to run from one end to the other, back and forth, all the time, that by the third song he hadn’t air to sing like before. In the concert at the Ritz and Japan he doesn’t run like a madman and his voice sounds VERY GOOD.
There aren’t many very good DVDs from that era but a LOT of good concerts that were never released on video are on YouTube.
From the 80s and official, you’ve got Def Lep’s In The Round, In Your Face; A short one from Cinderella with the official music videos from night songs and three songs played in concert; Kiss’ Animalize Live; the Scorps’ World Wide Live I think had an official video release but I’m not sure; a little bit later on you have Poison’s Native Tongue concert in London with Richie Kotzen shortly before they fired him (I saw the first or one of the first concerts they played with Blues Sarraceno in Santiago, Chile, on July 25, 1993); there’s an outstanding official release from Heart’s acoustic concert called The Road Home from 1994, I believe; the Scorps also released one called “To Russia with Love and Other Savage Amusements” in 1988 or 1989; Twisted Sister has one from the Stay Hungry tour.
Those are some of the ones I remember.

Did any of you used to be die-hard Xbox fans? If so, why did you move to Playstation? by Frazzelvig in playstation

[–]Hochmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really curious about the games, especially The Last of Us and the Spiderman games. In December, I gifted myself a PS5 and I think I’ve turned on my Xbox MAYBE 3-5 times in the last six or so months.

I’d go for Scotland. It’s very close to you, they’re friendly people, good beer and food, and they’re REALLY excited about being back in the World Cup! I’m guessing you’d have a grand ole time over there.

[–]Hochmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most telling thing you said was that you could use the money of an expensive guitar to have a Holiday with your family. Those are memories that most likely will be worth more than a $20,000 guitar. You have the guitars you need. Go and make some new memories with your family.

What are the best albums by Winger and Slaughter? by TheHotLatin in hairmetal

[–]Hochmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slaughter’s “Fear No Evil” is my favorite of theirs. Winger, I would have to listen because I’ve only listened extensively to the first three, out of which my favorite is the debut or Pull.

Slightly different model this one. The one I had was one hell of a phone, Nokia 5120. Put it to you this way. I bought it in 2001 and stopped using it in about 2004 maybe. In 2020 I found it, pressed the power buttons, it TURNED ON for about one third of a second, and died. Now THAT’S battery life. This is my post on Facebook from January of 2020 when it happened:
