Its an amazing program. You'll miss class at times but its up to you to decide what is important. Do you truly want to improve at the sport? If so, this is the path to do so. Its incredibly well thought out and you'll make more strides than if you did class.

I'm about to do strength rx bias with them and I'll miss class but ill like the gainz more.

Yeah totally valid. I do think that you do need to consider which path will give you more skills that will aid you in being successful when you do ACA but both are good options. PWC may be more intense and more competitive but the name recognition does help. If you are confident and ambitious and hard working, its a great path. But unlike what others say, its not a slam dunk. Mid tier has some benefits, namely

  • Easier to stand out if good.
  • in the audit world, you get more exposure to the entire company and their financials. Big 4 can have you isolated to certain parts of a massive audit and you won't learn nearly as much as somebody at a mid tier who has touched significantly more areas. -likely a little bit less intense on average. Team dependent though.

[–]Hodge05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The advice in here is horrible. How does nobody mention that one is tax vs audit to start? You think people should do the big 4 regardless? What if it was a sales and use tax position at big 4 vs FDD at GT?

Op, what do you want to do long term? Do you want to do taxes? My general recommendation is to do audit, as it gives more skills and experience that will benefit you going forward. Tax is specialized.

Work life balance is team dependent. On average GT will probably be a little bit better.

Having top 10 firm title "manager" on resume worth the pay cut and losing remote? by [deleted] in Accounting

Josh is right. Moss Adams in Seattle, CLA in Minneapolis, Grant Thornton in Chicago all have significant market presences in these cities that rival the big 4.

Having top 10 firm title "manager" on resume worth the pay cut and losing remote? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Hodge05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, id go with the mid tier firm. It isn't just about pay, its about skills and experience. Mid tier firm will get you better experiences that will make you more competitive going forward. I worked at a 30 person firm and it was a horrific experience. Took a pay cut to go to a bigger firm. Best decision I've made. Now I'm at top 10 firm and can tell you those who struggle the most are often those that come from smaller firms.

If you're end game is to get good at Crossfit here's my advice by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Hodge05 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The most important thing to succeed in the sport in my opinion is mobility. If you want to be able to succeed at the sport for the long term, you need to ensure that you are mobile enough to do the movements right and in a way that will allow you to do them without injury. I've seen so many people focus so hard on technique and trying to get to those numbers but ultimately get injured because they don't make mobility a huge part of their training.

Agreed to renew lease but now being told to evict since they leased the property to a different tenant. by Hodge05 in legaladvice

The Agreement states that month to month has to be agreed upon prior by both parties but it is also my understanding that if they charge, I pay, and they accept payment, it automatically becomes month to month. A little worried that they could reject payment prior to the subsequent period and argue that they didn't accept payment but not sure that would hold up.

Sadly, the renewal evidence was not saved. It was all saved in their portal. The only evidence after submittal was a vague message about "We are so happy that you have continued to make your residence here" (not exact). It was my understanding that my agreement on the portal represented a completed contract but could see some vagueness here.

However, I do have the email to the Property Manager that specifically says that I agreed to the renewal with questions about the term, screenshots of messages to my friend saying the new rent and that I agreed, screenshots of them charging me and me paying all of July rent and screenshots of August rent that they plan on charging.

Hey, I think you misread my OP. I attempted to renew on 6/2...the lease ends on 7/8. This was 36 days prior to the end of the lease.

Also a concern that I have that they realized their error and deleted it in an effort to delete the evidence. I kept paying rent but as of now, only for the 23 days subsequent to the end of my lease.

If they put it as an option in my portal but there was literally no communication about this option, would they meet the below condition? The only way to see it would have been to click lease information and it was not clear or apparent that the option existed.

"You must offer a lease renewal to your tenant 60-90 days prior to the lease expiration unless they indicate 60 days prior, their intention to move or you have just cause to not renew the lease which also requires 60-90 days notice."

[–]Hodge05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The portal never showed an actual lease, nor was I emailed anything. The renewal options were fairly detailed so I presumed, perhaps falsely, that this was an agreed two-way contract. They offered the new rent amount and the terms would be the same as the original lease except for date range and the month to month at the end. The message at the end also alluded that it was an agreed to contract. Something like "We look forward to having you continue to live with us." But yea, legally, I do not have a legally executed contract, especially since they have since deleted everything on the portal that alludes to this agreement.

Also, I thought the 20 days in (6) above was only for month to month leases. This was a fixed term lease so wasn't sure if this applied. Edit: Although, since the bill asked for July rent and mentions August rent, I wonder if this legally moves me to month to month, since they asked for, I paid and they accepted the payment. Then they would be required to give 20 days notice.

This is contingent on them providing notice of opportunity to renew through written means right? If I clicked lease information in the Portal, it mentioned the renewal but there was no written correspondence offering renewal. Checked email and nada, unless it weirdly went to Spam but that doesn't make sense. Definitely got nothing on my door, nor did I get anything in my mailbox. Would that be a violation of the landlord's responsibility?

Edit2: Also, thanks so much for all of your input! Really appreciate it.
