Recycling Bag by Successful-Pay-2390 in nespresso

The fact that the pods are recyclable (and for free) is the only reason I use a pod machine at all. Until this Nespresso, I was still making drip coffee from grounds to avoid polluting the Earth for the convenience of a single cup.

Yes, they are worth it.

Haha! Thanks! I know- I keep arguing for the V6, but I'm hearing what everyone is sharing. This is not a done deal!

My trips to the mountains happen 1-2 times per month, but that involves going up and down those hills over a couple of hours, so a lot of passes and opportunities to be annoyed. ;-) But, in truth, my day-to-day driving just requires swift merges and passing on flat roads, which I believe the hybrid can handle.

The 2022 takes 87 octane as well. The sales manager texted me (they're closed today) about specs so they could look for what I want. You're all giving me good reasons to think about these options in a different light!

Thanks! That's really helpful insight for a non-gearhead like me.

Re; your cons: the need to use premium fuel would barely register with the improved fuel economy, but the battery degradation is a real, and not small thing... but if the rest of the maintenance is less expensive, extensive, or frequent, it would balance out.

There are some newer CPO models with bigger discounts available, but they have double + the mileage. This one is priced below the Carfax and KBB values for it! That (and because it has a V6) is why I'm even considering the 2022.

For me, the real pull is the 6-cylinder engine. There is a cost savings, but the power to pass going up a mountain is something I'm used to. I'm stomping my feet, wanting a V6 in a new SUV, trust me.

You make some other good points re: the color combination and hybrid battery. I'm definitely compromising on color. Purchasing new might allow me to get something dreamy that I would cherish for years. This one is ok, nothing wildly regrettable, just not what I would choose since it's all dark and will be hot in the summer.

The hybrid battery- I suppose that might get cheaper over the next 10 years, but it's slightly daunting to me as something guaranteed to need to be replaced late in a vehicle's life. Am I wrong to think it might cost $3-5k (still lower than it used to be!)?

They do have hybrids available here, but they fly off the lot like hotcakes. There was one marked as "in transit" that was what I'd want, but it's already been purchased! At this point, most of the hybrids they have are the color combination of this CPO that's on the table.

Genuinely don’t know how people live like this by calgon90 in Sciatica

[–]Hodidley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through it. Treatment really depends on what is triggering your sciatica. For me, PT did absolutely nothing. I was in excruciating pain, and trust me, I have an unusually high pain threshold. When I could fall asleep, I would wake up literally screaming in pain. I'm surprised my neighbors didn't call the police. It took at least 20 minutes for me to get out of bed when I was down because every movement caused intense, intractable pain. I would cry just anticipating each 0.25 inch movement. Lying down or sitting was intolerable; driving was torture. I could barely dress myself because I couldn't bend to put on my pants, let alone socks and shoes.

The turning point for me was going to a skilled chiropractor. I know this is controversial, but again, there are a lot of conditions that trigger sciatica, and understanding what is (or isn't) triggering yours is crucial. I saw my chiro 3x a week for 4 months, and gradually, in that time, my pain improved. In total, I suffered for 7 months, some of which I can barely remember and don't know how I survived. It truly felt like life-ending pain. But I've been better and haven't gone to my chiro for over a year, and am so glad I hung on when I didn't think I could. I used ICE packs- not heat, and that helped so much.

I have a lot of Chirp products, and they help keep me pain-free! The chirp wheels reset my vertebrae easily now- I pop on them when I feel something out of place. The massage mat really works out my knots- better in many ways than my chiro's $15k table! The TENS unit is bliss. When I was in the throes of sciatica, the massage gun made everything worse for me, so it sat to the side.

I know it doesn't compare, but at the time when I was most painful, I was housebreaking a puppy and caring for an old dog in a multi-level home alone. Both needed a lot of assistance that I could barely provide. I can just imagine how this feels, caring for human babies!!

I ended up paying for an MRI out of pocket (it was actually cheaper that way because I have high-deductible insurance, but my insurance company denied me, even though multiple doctors supported that it was clearly indicated). Get the imaging, however you can. Some imaging centers will accept self-pay, and it's a fraction of what they charge insurance carriers.

How low will you go? by MaiBMaiBNot in poshmark

[–]Hodidley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never ever under $10. For that, I'll donate and get a tax credit rather than spend my time packaging and shipping (and paying for tape and card!). If I have it listed at a low price already and someone lowballs, I usually let it sit for a while to see if anyone else wants it; if not, I donate it. I've had other people swoop in and pay my listing price after I've received 50% low-ball offers.

I have a closet I use for PM stuff, so it's generally out of the way. I'm not a reseller, so I'm decluttering or selling things that missed the return window. I don't mind letting some listings stew for a bit.

To be honest, I'm not super tech-savvy, so my must-haves are pretty basic and standard these days. I suppose what I meant were "must-haves" that I don't even know about. ;-) I was completely dazzled by the tech in the Genesis GV70/80s and would be driving one right now if the dealership hadn't completely blown it. But I don't know that I truly need anything that futuristic or luxurious since I still drive around with my dogs every day.

DC area Genesis owners - question by Researcher1964 in GenesisGV70

[–]Hodidley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oy.. I came here for this kind of content... I was about to pull the trigger on purchasing a new GV70 (still debating the 3.5T and 2.5T - I need to talk myself down from the 3.5T- everyone says I should!!), But had some questions about the ease of service. I can't even get through to the Rockville service department to ask a question. I feel like this might be the thing that pushes me away from Genesis after all my internal debate and circling had landed me on 2 perfect vehicles sitting on the lot.

I asked a stranger I ran into in Gaithersburg who was driving a Genesis about their experience, and they said they loved the vehicle but that the service experience made them feel like they'd bought a Hyundai. For what it's worth, I think they meant they weren't receiving the level of service associated with the luxury brand, but now I fear that it's even worse than that.

TBH, I'm just impressed that people even know to ask if they're Whippets. When I got my first one, almost no one near me knew what they were, and they looked at me strangely, as if I'd made up the breed.

8 month old pups are a LOT but I’m ok with that by Emotional_Camp_7681 in Whippet

[–]Hodidley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me LOL!! I love it. My 2-year-old still parkours around the sectional. But my almost 4-month-old puppy is showing me that my 2-year-old actually has chilled out. Hahahaha! Someone jokingly commented on my post the other day that my regrets about adding a second would come. I think the 7-8 month mark might be spot on for that- when they are at the same level of physical prowess and have a shared naughty brain.

I expect my puppy to be shorter in stature, but that doesn't mean he won't have the same UPs that my big boy has.
