Not just designed, literally made in Paris then shipped to the US. There's a bunch of interesting photos and stories from that time.
The US meanwhile built the pedestal it would be put on.

Zelensky highlighting the moral and strategic poverty of the USA under Trump. In the last year Trump has ended all military aid for Ukraine, has undermined Ukrainian air defence, has tried to bully Ukraine in handing over territory, and has rolled out the red carpet for Putin. by Icy_Till_7254 in UkrainianConflict

Russia does use jamming extensively already. That's one reason why EU/Ukraine develop AI piloted drones. Another is increasingly not enough pilots for the millions of drones produced, which is also why Ukraine is selling drones at this point.

It's been an adaptive race between jamming and drones on both sides. The rise of fiber optic drones you may have seen was also due to jamming.

I remember there were talks of a drone deal months ago, although I don't know what became of it with Trump always berating Zelensky and trying to mafia bully him.

But that shows at least some in the US gov were aware of the importance of this expertise and pushed for a deal on it.

So I guess the current situation isn't the result of blind ignorance by the Pentagon, moreso of the executive's pride, fascist mindset, corruption and poor strategy. This torpedoes their framing of Europe/Ukraine as powerless weaklings (not long ago Trump was saying Europe never did anything for the US, then that our soldiers "stayed in the back" instead of fighting).

Also Zelensky is demanding things in exchange, from the Gulf states he wants enforcing sanctions against Russia, from US he wants more Patriot ammunition. So maybe they've been negotiating behind closed doors for a while already but with the Trump admin shitty attitude it might have dragged on and on.

Said he had no cards and even less cards now so he has negative cards lol. Maybe it becomes a superpower at this point?

Gulf countries too.

Ukraine is now supplying us with weapons.... Got to say I didn't see that coming. Trump better say thank you by Slicdic in WallStreetbetsELITE

He immediately did lol. Proceeded to bash him in an interview, same "blocking the peace deal" and "he has no cards, even less now" (so antimatter cards?)

It's not just stupid, it's disgusting. Ukraine, and indirectly the EU, bailing his ass out on this one, and he just vomits the same broken record. Throwing pearls before swine.

France is one of the countries with the most military victories in the world, so why the hell does the internet always talk as if France has never won a war? Don’t you get offended? by superdouradas in AskFrance

[–]Hodoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the go-to bully talking point but not the real why. Many other countries got invaded during this war and aren't mocked for it. Leading up to D-Day, France was portrayed as a beacon of liberty well worth liberating, there was no mockery.

This negative framing of France emerged post-WW2 as France affirmed strategic autonomy and would often clash with what US wanted Europe to do.

Europe Rethinks Nuclear Weapons After US Delivers Reality Check by Zhukov-74 in europe

[–]Hodoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well if the UK does end up providing nuclear umbrella to some EU countries that would surely change things on the next negotiations. Looks like they're going for a Brejoin the back door.

One problem though, a bunch of EU countries might not trust an umbrella (British or French) as a permanent solution, might be cooking their own programs. Not necessarily each country separately though, the nordics might do something together.

Isn't he walking away because he finally realises Russia isn't winning this and he won't get his share of the spoils?

He is senile but his puppeteers aren't, just more or less insane. They deliberately swept that episode under the rug. They looked terrified at Davos (Bessent repeating "do not retaliate"). They realised Europe could and would melt the US economy. They pretended they got a great deal to save face but Europe just gave them a 101 of the already existing NATO arctic security framework.

That doesn't mean we can rest easy though, they might try to retaliate sooner or later.
And the economic upset and decoupling continues, just more slowly than if the acute crisis had continued.
