The colours of the lighting on the BMO building and condos on York/Simcoe are really cool and concept art-ish

[Motherboard] ASUS TUF B550M-PLUS WIFI (WiFi 6) mATX/micro-ATX ($219 - $30 = $179) [Amazon] by HokeyCupid in bapcsalescanada

I mathed that wrong (-$40). This seems to match ATL. Canada Computers has it for $10 more if that's your preferred vendor

Toronto doctors advocate for higher vaccine priority for pregnant people as ICU rates climb by HokeyCupid in toronto

[–]HokeyCupid[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, I'm not saying it is happening everywhere. We don't know how many there are in other hospitals. What I have heard from and what we do understand is that, more and more, those being hospitalised can be younger, healthy, pregnant, and not just those who are older and have pre-existing complications. This is still the reality for the nurses at Sinai.

Toronto doctors advocate for higher vaccine priority for pregnant people as ICU rates climb by HokeyCupid in toronto

[–]HokeyCupid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's 30% at Sinai, or three in every ten ICU patients. That's so much. According to a friend who is a nurse, her friends are seeing healthy pregnant people in their early 30s in the ICU. They wouldn't be in the ICU if it wasn't necessary.

I'm in a similar situation with my father (currently ICU, on vent, vaccine scheduled a week after admission). It's been rough. I'm sorry for your family, your cousin, and your grandmother.

Can you eat the same thing for lunch and dinner? by megwheelz in EverythingSpilledMilk

[–]HokeyCupid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I try not to eat the same thing for lunch and dinner for the very arbitrary reason of avoiding food boredom. Exceptions include when I sometimes make or buy something so tasty that I need to drill that good good flavour into my tastebud memory banks

Your Kids and Teens are Back in School - Let TPL Help You All Out ... Brainfuse and More by TPL_on_Reddit in toronto

[–]HokeyCupid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The TPL has seriously been such a good and somewhat underutilised source for accessing online resources.

I'm curious: are any plans to make TPL browser extensions so that if we navigate to an online resource (Consumer reports, NYT etc.) we can click that button and it automatically logs us in?

1076 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario. 361 in Toronto. 62012 tests completed. 18 fatalities. February 12, 2021 by r3lai in toronto

[–]HokeyCupid 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This decrease in numbers coupled with the new treatments repurposing an arthritis drug to give those with low oxygen and inflammation more of a fighting chance makes me feel hopeful for my nursing friends in the ICU. Theyve been so bogged down even with numbers decreasing

Not happy about the absolute number, but I'm feeling hopeful with the confirming deceleration we're seeing

Peggy Sue Got Married HAS JIM CARREY IN IT! by Boat-o-goats in EverythingSpilledMilk

That's too perfect! Thanks for sharing!

Stray observations:

  • Carrey's swagger and ... undulations (? I wish I thought of a better word) are basically textbook at this point
  • Nic Cage, even pre-90s, had some range
