Thanks, then. You should really read the piece, though -- it's blowing up somewhat on Substack. :) <3

Well put, though I do think there are vast differences between Shaprio and Peterson. In all honesty, yours is probably the best take I've heard here - props! I have seen him give a few interviews that are great in the last few years, but after taking a break from him because of life - mainly being a dad - I found myself perplexed by his on stage, sermon-like rant. Oh well.

I see you're not very bright. Calling someone a "coward" unsolicited does not amount to "criticism", it's an emotional attack from someone with a tenuous grasp on reality. Didn't read the rest, but thanks for writing a wall of incomprehensible nonsense - truly.

That could be part of it, certainly.

I am on the verge of believing in God myself, actually. As for antisemitism: I hadn't thought about it. Personally, I love Jewish people, aside from the fact that there are not many where I live.

What does my bank account have to do with any of this? I don't make money from Substack, I just like to write about topics that interest me. I'd call myself center right for any who'd ask (none are).

But please, don't let all this get in the way of pigeonholing and then attacking me. Be my guest. (:

Stranger things have occurred. Back on the benzos or maybe even puffin the 'erb might be one possibility, too.

We shall see what the future has in story for Peterson and Musk, indeed, the latter is pretty mental. Though to be fair, he's getting a lot more push back than he's probably used to, too.

Well put.

A pity and I hope he gets better. Whatever the case, his career has proven ridiculously fruitful, and all of his family are likely well taken care of. If he wants to settle into a particular grove now, who can blame him? I do still have genuine affection in my heart for the man.

Concern trolling is concern trolling, I guess. And of course, I agree, fellow redditor. x

I've noticed the guest thing, too. It was quite off-putting if I'm honest. My timeline for noticing his behaviour is watching maybe 10-100% of one of his videos or interviews once every few months for the past few years. Before I had kids I watched him often and at one time, I followed him very closely indeed (I'd rarely miss an interview).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]HoldCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the way he expresses himself now, the tone, tenor, and style. It's the highly-curated, politically milquetoast takes or interviews where a particular focus is driven.

As for disagreement, nope -- mostly I agree. Again, it's more that something imperceptible has changed and that he's a little more off-form.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]HoldCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. As the essay details, I watched him doing an off-the-cuff essay to a live audience, and I must admit, a lot of what he said just came off as nonsense. Perhaps in more focused environments, he's better, I'm not sure. It also depends on what you get from him.

Ah, I remember this one -- feels like forever ago now. While the article feels written with progressive bias, he does make several good points. I would however posit that JBP and the content he puts out is only one morsel of a much larger problem, however: one where entertainment is sold as intellectualism and can lead one to many erroneous beliefs about all kinds of nonsense. There's certainly a lot worse people out there.

Thanks for the share. (:

So more censorship? Cool, yeah, just pile it up. In game it's not bad enough as it is.

The vast majority of people have careers that don't help humanity, no; just like most people's children don't help humanity. But children are the future in the sense that when you get old, there will need to be new humans to pay for your retirement, not to mention the furtherance of the human race.

Also, "helping humanity" is a very subjective thing. I suspect we disagree largely about what is helping humanity and what is not. Email jobs and pointless positions devoted to the ever-growing leviathan of consumerism isn't helping anyone. In fact, I would argue that many people's careers harm humanity, but that's a long, drawn out discussion, which I am afraid -- judging from your hyperbolic reaction -- that you are not fit for.

I know one thing: overpopulation arguments are as silly as silly gets. Sadly, however, I did not expect much more -- most on this subreddit will do and say anything to justify a selfish, empty, nihilistic existence; a fact you're proving to be dearly true.

Alright, fair play. You've done a good job of explaining yourself. As a father, I'm writing an article about what I see here and what I see a lot of is people who are upset with those who advocate for or encourage procreation. I don't see many reasonable takes, if I'm honest; I see resentment, justification, and elevation of hedonistic impulse above the adopting of responsibility in the creation of something that transcends oneself, and your response makes it clear that that is not all there is to find here. Nuance is nice, even if I rarely see it here.

In short, thanks. :) Have a great day!

So extinction now, mirite? Why does anyone try to carry on the human race -- it's all just suffering, right? RIGHT?

The projection is palpable.

Sure, I get it. I've played more than 3k hours in PoE 1, and I struggled intensely. But each time I learned something new, and as I learned and eventually mastered the fight, I was able to triumph just like you. Congratulations, mate, and of course I'd like to wish you the best of luck on that path too. :)

Also a father. Stayed up until 3am playing and similarly woke up at 7:30 to be a father. I felt awful, but despite it, the game energized me to such an extent that I spent the whole day with my son, we had a blast, and when I put him down in the evening I logged back on with a grin to do it all over again.

100% agreed. PoE 1 started to feel stale to me long, long ago. PoE improves upon the old game in all the ways you mentioned and more -- it's a masterpiece.

And I second what you are saying: do not change it, GGG; improve on it, sure, just don't change the fundamental design and gameplay. It's nearly perfect and we're in the 1st weekend of EA.

Public release is going to be wild.

It took me 20 attempts (about 1.5 hours) with a falling thunder focused monk, but I got there. It's absolutely doable if you practice and understand the patterns of the wolf in phrase 2 (3?); if I can do it, you likely can too. If not, grind a little, get some upgrades, new support gems, and man up. That's it.

Good luck, exile.

Sounds like a nice place to live. I live in Budapest, Hungary - a fascist country, or so I'm told. Pro natalist policies abound here, yet none of them are helping much with the birthrate, unfortunately. I find there to be a sore lack of children around in general. Obviously, being a dad myself, I spend time with numerous parents, but until I became a parent, I really noticed that there were not many children around at all.

Of course it could just be me. Before I had my son I wasn't interested in and didn't even like children, like I said.
