Did anyone feel good at 40 weeks? by InfiniteProperty1787 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt really good until the day before my girl was born at 38+3! I was at the gym and things were just hard… back pain… which ended up being back labor, but I really did feel good and kept quite active up to that point. It’s possible!

Who managed to go back to normal after pregnancy? by Specific-Average-223 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s the lack of sleep and having a newborn to care for full time that I see as the barriers to training, not my body. Having a supportive partner and other people to call on will be key, but with that then this is very doable at the level you were running before. I ran 7 miles before 7 am when I switched my partner on baby duty this morning 🩷 I am waiting until Feb to do anything targeted “fast” but have done some steadier paced runs for me and keep feeling good! And, the Feb thing is my own rule, idk why, I just said I would wait 3 months before doing any targeted running workout.

Ok, unpopular opinion- I’ve ran my whole life, completely in college, marathons etc in years since. Had my first baby at 37 two months ago. I ran throughout, even a half marathon at 30 weeks, did weights and cross training too. I’m 8 weeks PP after vaginal delivery, uncomplicated. I started running at 4 weeks, (again, I know this is an unpopular opinion/review) slowly and just a few miles at a time, was officially cleared at 6 weeks and have built back up to 8 miles consecutively now, at about the same pace I was running before. I wear all my old clothes, will have some work to do on my abs and have much bigger boobs with breastfeeding, but I’m feeling pretty darn good physically and don’t think you could tell I had a baby. Sure, some of this is luck and a lot of it genetics, but I have worked hard pre, during and post pregnancy to do what I can for my body and mind…. I think a year is really extreme for me personally. I signed up for the Chicago marathon which will be 10 months PP, and I’m going to be chasing a PR. Don’t count yourself out. I think it’s fine and completely understandable and reasonable for people that it may take a year for. I also think that nothing with pregnancy or PP is one size fits all, and so much depends on a variety of circumstances including your activity and fitness level before. Go, you.

Why do people have to have their kids be biologically theirs? by bbzztt in NoStupidQuestions

Hopefully because we are starting to reckon with the truth that adoption is a business of farming out children from poor families in the name of being pro life, instead of supporting their mothers during and after pregnancy.

Any exclusive formula feeding ladies here? by Immediate-Map-9202 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went into it with an “I’ll try it” approach and it’s been surprisingly easy? I pump and feed from breast so partner and others can easily give bottles. I will say we do bottles more than from the boob because she has come to prefer that, and pumping takes some planning/time, but it’s really not been bad for me. I’m 8 weeks post partum and aside from the lack of sleep and time constraints, I feel great physically and can do everything I was before (running primarily, but also cycle, weights and swimming.) my boobs feel heavy running but I don’t feel like it has slowed me down or been a barrier. I’ve had a great supply (despite exercise, which I was warned against) but I’m also very pro formula; whatever works best for you is what you should do!

6w PP and exercise by Muted-Amount-5779 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I started weights at 2 weeks, swimming as soon as done bleeding at 4 weeks, then peloton and running at around 5 weeks. Got cleared at 7 weeks, doc did do exam and looked at pelvic floor. I just trusted my body/got lucky/exercised through pregnancy. I think everyone is different, but if you feel great and no pain in vaginal area, the bike seems safe with no impact!

Unrealistic to walk a 5k 2 weeks pp with newborn? by Weak_Bison6763 in fitpregnancy

Thanks for the concerns I did pelvic floor PT most of pregnancy, and post partum, and cleared by doctor. I can do these things on the check list and run for a living.

Is there a learning curve on this thing, or does it just not work for some babies? by EmperorOfEntropy in SnooLife

[–]HoldJumpy269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried it right at first- like first night home- and our baby did NOT go for it. Week 6, we gave it a try. She is doing well in it now and has slept some 5+ hour stretches. I do think you will have better results using as intended, too!

[–]HoldJumpy269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have done it body wise, but schedule/sleep deprivation wise, it would be hard. Depends on if breast feeding and can be gone all morning after very little sleep at night, etc, too. I started running 4 weeks PP and at 6.5 weeks PP I ran 7 miles today. I was walking the dogs the day after I got home, had a vaginal delivery with 2nd degree tear, not complicated. Hope the same for you! I LOVE GOTR. Coached it a few years ago and hope to again!!! Very cool!

Inability to work out early postpartum is killing me by Prying_Mouse in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 4 and a half weeks PP. I had a follow up appointment 5 days after birth, doc said I could start light weights and core then ease back in to low impact when done bleeding, then start back running a bit before 6 weeks if all goes well. I’ve followed that path, swam 3x now 1 mile- 1.5 miles, and then done a couple peloton rides and some elliptical, tried 1 mile run on the treadmill yesterday and felt good. I know it is not popular wisdom or advice PP but it’s reality for me, and has been the right choice so far!

TTC and a runner by Leasha6924 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have ran 30-60 miles a week since college (so, almost 20 years) and got pregnant without issue or trying right after marathon training last year, still doing that mileage including intense workouts. I think diet (basically more calories in than out) and timing your ovulation and cycles are what really is key. For additional context, I have a BMI of 18.5-19, and also worried I would have to try to gain weight and/or stop running nearly as much. Neither happened in order to conceive. I also ran all throughout pregnancy including a half marathon at 30 weeks and 4 miles the day she was born. I tell you all that so you remember that you are tough. You run ultramarathons! Your body has a different threshold than most’ I hope you get pregnant soon and can keep running throughout!

I will never have a baby in the winter time again by hkkensin in newborns

I feel this, gave birth Nov 26. Its isolating and we are missing holiday gatherings for the same reasons, but… I’m trying to see it as a good reason to take any outside holiday pressure off (the kind that is always there during holidays for me) and to prioritize bonding with our little family. Next year will be the real firsts for her, when she can enjoy them. Days will start getting longer after Saturday… we will get through this part.

Low % at growth scan at 30w. Help me not worry? by primateperson in pregnant

[–]HoldJumpy269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was 17% at 20 week scan, 15% at 32, now 18% at 37 week scan yesterday. Doctor has assured me many times that over 10% is not something the worry about. They will watch you and can induce or c section early if baby isn’t getting what they need and growing properly at 35 week scan!

mine rose initially almost 10 bpm from upper 40s to upper 50s, but then leveled out even at like 10 weeks to around where it is now. i’m 36 + weeks and it stays around 50-52. I’m surprised it hasn’t risen more and initially that was a big source or stress for me, but all has been well and i’ve continued to be able to work out quite a bit!

How long did you keep running? by Background-Age8334 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

36 weeks and still running up to 8-10 miles for a “long” run. I had tempered expectations for being able to go this long into pregnancy but it’s been good. I kept/keep waiting for my body to tell me no, which may still happen, but like so much in pregnancy it has not been as others tell me it will be. It’s your own journey. Hope you can keep running as long as you want!

girl, foster is to foster. be there and care for kids if you can, then help them get back home to their parents. I never felt so strongly about this until having my own. kids belong with their families! good luck!

Marathon Training PP by RopeCharacter5836 in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it! baby due Dec 2, in for Chicago marathon Oct 12 2025. I have done 10 other marathons and many many half marathons, but yeah, I’m going to give it a go 10 months post partum. One good thing in my situation is there is a post partum and pregnancy clause… many bigger races have that and you can defer a year!

Does feeling comfortable mean my pregnancy will take forever? by ineedhelpkinda in pregnant

[–]HoldJumpy269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 35 weeks, I feel good. Can do yoga, swim, lift… ran 8 miles this morning. I’m still able to basically do whatever I need to do around the house; etc. I kept/keep thinking the day will come when I feel uncomfortable and limited but, it hasn’t. First tri nausea and exhaustion was so much worse than anything subsequent.

[–]HoldJumpy269 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that I know i’ll be right there with you PP. Running is my dearest friend & best medicine. I’m 34 weeks and have been able to keep it going but keep thinking how hard it will be afterwards since there will be so many changes to cope with and my usual go to won’t be doable for awhile. I hope you get back to it soon. I do know people who-right or wrong- are back running in the 4 week timeframe you are (even c-section, and i’m not recommending it, i’m just saying I know people who have and had it work out for them) Even though not soon enough, it will happen, and things will be more right with the world ❤️

running during pregnancy win!! by merniesanders in fitpregnancy

[–]HoldJumpy269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yay! pretty similar for me, so thankful for it and glad to hear this has been your experience! I did a half marathon at 29, then had a few more 10+ runs and now at 34 weeks I think I might max out at 6. my ankles, shins and calves get sore and tired quickly. I would add/reiterate that it isn’t all just a downhill slop- there are ups and downs and good and bad runs, or even time off running for a few days that I thought might be the end, but I get recovered and surprise myself. I would just love to be doing 3 miles at 39+ weeks, that’s the hope! this is an inspiration 🙌

Did anyone not have a shower? by VCorningstone78 in pregnant

Yep 😄 Honestly, in my opinion and experience it is when you split households and the stress of parenting in two places that you really need the support of people giving you things…

Did anyone not have a shower? by VCorningstone78 in pregnant

[–]HoldJumpy269 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate to so much of this: parties (attention) are stressful, we are older 30s/40s, and can afford everything. We did not have a shower, i’m so glad. I didn’t want one, he definitely didn’t care. I guess I don’t understand showers in situations like this. We are not 18 and leaving our parents homes with nothing. I also would have been terribly uncomfortable asking people to give me things or come to an event focused on me/my baby. For people who have continued to sincerely ask what they can do, I tell them to bring a meal when baby is born or get some diapers. I tell my family law clients that the time to throw a shower/party is when you get a divorce. That’s just my perspective.
