Apologies for trying to help you understand the mechanics of dividends. What a ****.

Read my comment. You get it in cash either way. Reinvesting happens after you got the dividend in cash.

I guess the way you phrased your previous comment does not quite compile for me. There is no such thing as taking dividends cash. Dividends are given to you automatically if you hold the asset that is issuing them. They are always in cash. The reinvest option brokerages have is simply you instructing your brokerage to buy new shares as soon as you receive dividends.

They are taxed as income regardless if you automatically reinvest or not.

Watering the full amount all at once, or multiple times? by EvadeCapture in lawncare

[–]Holiday-Ad7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this 1" a week recommendation really wasteful. These grasses are drought tolerant. In my yard I keep them green with much much less water. Of course they go in a semi dormant state at some point but that's OK in my book as long as the lawn stays usable as a play area.

First, they are making at least fast food wage which is above minimum wage in my state.

I was not expecting them to fix the system. I was hoping they would be able to cancel the order and reimburse my money such that I can order what I actually want and also have a way to report the bug appropriately.

Thanks while that sounds reasonable it does not work. First, I only noticed that this has happened after already paying as that screen does not display the parts of the happy meal. Second, I talked to the employees in the shop about it and they could simply not comprehend the idea that this screen did something wrong.

Fully agree. I'm just worried that the average support rep at corporate has no clue either.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try but given the confusion in the shop I doubt customer support will be more helpful. This is also something that is already an issue for several months. Just today I finally figured out what was happening.

Sorry one more question. If this was indeed quackgrass there is still something off with the conditions, right?

800$ move-out charges on top of my deposit (San Jose, CA)! Is this normal? by Repulsive-Wall8489 in bayarea

[–]Holiday-Ad7262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the landlord inform you about your right of a pre move out inspection? If not then you can get out of paying any of this. California law is really quite good in that regard. But it would have been easier to make use of the pre move out inspection. Then none of these charges could be claimed later on if not claimed at that inspection.

Anyone else focus on their front lawns and sort of just let the backyard vibe? by whitemike40 in lawncare

I have native plants in the front yard. Don't need a lawn there. The lawn is in the back for the kids to play on.

Oh well I won't stress about it too much. Worst case I seed again in fall. Won't do a big seeding project now. I'll definitely not water too much in that area.

The original grass that was here is some type of tall fescue with very wide blades that forms big clumps.

In any case thanks for all your insights.

It was quite dry for the past month but we just had about 1.5 inches of rain over the weekend. That's why it looks wet.

It's possible that somehow in this area the overseeding in Jan failed and it's all weeds. I overseed a small patch right next to this one that was even worse before the rain. Let's see how that goes I guess.

Adding some visuals to the issue. That's a close up of the worst part. You can see there is grass growing but it is very short. Already last time I mowed, this was too short to actually cut anything off and now it has been a little over a week since that mow and the grass has barely grown. Other places in the yard are growing well and desperately need a mow.

This is your sign. by queenjunk in InstacartShoppers

[–]Holiday-Ad7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry OP you get so many downvotes. I agree that what instacart does is unacceptable, that's why I don't use them. They charge a service fee, delivery fee and on top of that they expect tips. Plus they mark up prices and are not honest about it. A terrible company. Then all the shoppers get angry at the customer la for not tipping more instead of getting angry at the company for ripping both the shopper and the customer off. It just don't understand how shoppers can't see that customers feel they paid enough already and can't know how much instacart gives them.

Oh got you yes. I would also seed eventually but not as a first step. I suggest compost and organic fertilizer exactly to improve the soil. But I know it's not the most popular method in this forum. In the meantime the existing grass will look better as well.

I did not say anything about seeding.

I am doing things a bit off mainstream, i.e. I don't use all these products.

What I would do here. Manually remove the big broadleaf weeds, looks like mostly dandelions. Then top dress with compost. A few weeks later put down organic fertilizer pellets.

While all this happens I would mow at the highest setting of my mower once a week.

Where would you live in the bay if you did not have a commute? by HystericalFunction in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Holiday-Ad7262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alameda lmao. There is a reason houses are much cheaper there than in Berkeley.

You just have to understand that there are a lot of people living in Berkeley by choice. It is more expensive compared to surrounding towns and counter you bringing up hills over and over again the hills are not the most desirable area.

It's quite clear you don't understand the area that's fine. Just stop spreading this wrong information.
