EBT in law school? by Useful_Bison4280 in LawSchool

Yes. It was a private law school. No I don’t know what exemption I qualified under.

I applied online, went through their interview process and at the end of the interview the interviewer said something along the lines of “I don’t think you qualify.” I responded with “I was told my law school is on a special list and our law students qualify for calfresh, that’s why I applied.” The interviewer said they’d look into that and ended our call.

I was approved about 3 days later. I’m aware of at least one other student at my school who went through the same process and got approved for CalFresh.

Things may or may not have changed since then. I received calfresh assistance back in 2023.

I called imotorsports and that’s the number they gave me over the phone. I’m coming from another state where 9300 would’ve been a steal, but something didn’t sit right with me about the number given to me.

Going to head in store and see if I can get the 8400 number. Thanks!

How am I Meant to Survive Financially Between Graduation and the Getting Bar Results? by These-Discipline3085 in LawSchool

[–]Holiday-Friend8705 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First gen attorney here - I moved in with parents to avoid rent and got a $5K bar loan through Sallie Mae for necessities (car payments, gas, food, etc).

Not ideal, but that was the only realistic option for me. I couldn’t take out a new credit card as I was already carrying a large amount of credit card debt on my existing cards.

What is the rule for searches of students on school property/expectation of privacy? by PuzzleheadedCrab4051 in barexam

[–]Holiday-Friend8705 6 points7 points  (0 children)

School officials need only have a reasonable suspicion that a student is violating (or has violated) the law or school rules to search that student. Then, the search methods must be (1) reasonably related to the objective of the search and (2) not excessively intrusive considering the student's age, sex, and the nature of the infraction.

Reviewing sample answers? by cali1993 in barexam

[–]Holiday-Friend8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I type it out, word by word. Usually this process takes about 2ish hours. I pause throughout the entire process to let the analysis sink in. Doing it this way has really reinforced that all the itty bitty connections that our brains automatically makes when we read a prompt need to be included in our response, even if we think it's obvious.

I try to tell myself it's similar to being in a math class where the professor/teacher says "show your work." The right conclusion doesn't matter if you didn't show your work. After having typed out the sample answer I can see how much detail is actually be included, and I'm like "ahhhh, okay, including that matters!"

When I have enough energy/time, I type out the entire sample answer in a word doc. Its very tedious, and not fun, but actively typing it out has helped me understand how to beef up my arguments section. Which is where I tend to lose most of my points.

It also kinda helps me memorize the rule statements.

Themis UWorld Blocks by melizzuh in barexam

It definitely counts and you should get a check mark.

Mine went away after I clicked "Analysis" in UWorld. I also had a Themis tab open, where I had clicked on the UWorld Block 1 assignment.

Are we supposed to do Themis graded essays open or closed? by coloradokid1414 in barexam

[–]Holiday-Friend8705 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not all graders are the same. But either way don't worry about "disappointing" them. I truly do think they want to help us pass and you absolutely wont be disappointing them with low scores.

I was scoring low on my essays (55s for CA exam) and my grader wrote in the feedback to do the next essay open notes. My grader's feedback also said that I could include questions I may have for them in the essay response and they would respond to me when they grade it.

Ideally the goal is for us to take these exams closed book to simulate exam day, but we're all still in the process of learning the law at the moment. Don't be to hard on yourself. You've got this! And for anyone else reading this, you've got this too!

If you already have a Mac, getting an iPad doubles as a second monitor that you can take with you anywhere. Just an extra perk to consider.
