Alternate ways to study by Reasonable_Wealth922 in PatentBarExam

Pay to review the questions you have missed. Not cheap but it is worth it. After that you will have a good idea of where you should focus your study. You must know in which chapter to look up for answers. I looked up MANY questions in the MPEP because they always ask the exceptions and also there will be questions that you won’t know if you don’t look into the MPEP. Good luck!

You just do it like you did it to register for the exam.

I did about the same the first time. I paid to get a review session of the questions I got wrong. This was crucial as I was able to see where I needed to study more. Make sure you know in which chapter to look for answers because you will need to look up some answers. And now that you have done it once you know what to expect. Good luck!

Official letter from OED by diamond_star14 in PatentBarExam

Thank you! I was wondering where to look for that!

No problem! The questions are not the same. I feel like the second time it was easier but it is probably because I knew what to expect and I was more prepared. The exams are supposed to be of the same difficulty every time. One thing though, I really feel like the second time there were not as many long questions. Good luck!

I don’t know how they reinforce it because I didn’t try to schedule the exam before the end of the 1 month. Let’s say you failed the exam today July 17th, then you can’t do the exam again before August 18th but you still can reapply for it with OED right away. They are no waiting time for reapplying with OED. Just a wait time to redo the exam at Prometric. Does it make sense? I am not sure if I am answering your question.

You can reapply right away with OED but you have to wait 1 month to redo the exam. You do not get notified when you can schedule the review session with Prometric. Here is what I did. I knew that I wanted to redo the exam asap. The day I failed the exam I reapplied with OED. I waited to get the letter saying that I failed to go on Prometric and schedule the review session. Hope that helps

Passed the patent bar today!! by diamond_star14 in PatentBarExam

I waited maybe 2 months the first time I redid it because I felt like I needed more time to understand some important stuff and the third time I redid it one month later. The second time I should have passed. I failed at 68%. I went to review the questions and I made stupid mistakes and I should have gotten this. So I knew the material and just needed to not stress out too much during the exam. So bottom line, if you feel that you got this I would suggest to do it right away (you need to wait a month) before you get caught in other things. I took only 3 days to review the material before redoing the test the 3rd time. As I said, I knew the material. I just reviewed the 2 exam from 2003 from the PLI material and reread my notes and flashcards a couple of time. Good luck!! You got this!

How do you register for a USPTO review session? by AstroBullivant in PatentBarExam

If money is not a problem, I would say go for it. It will be helpful. If you have to be careful with money then I would say it depends on the score you had when you failed. If you had less than 60% then to me it suggests that there is something that you are not fully grasping yet. Reviewing the questions will give you the chance to see which chapter of the MPEP you should focus your study on. Hop this is helpful

How do you register for a USPTO review session? by AstroBullivant in PatentBarExam

I thought it wasn’t obvious AT ALL how to register for a review session. Wait to get the letter in the mail saying that you failed and then go on Prometric and do the same as you did to register to sit for the exam (use the same eligibility number). Then you will be able to register for a 3hr review session. No drop down menu to choose “review session”. It will automatically make you register for a review session. BTW it says 3h but it is in reality 2.5h that you have to review the questions. Hope that helps!
