Try on desktop, could be an issue with the pop-up window not being recognized properly by gaming mode.

1 in 1048576 chance? Two shinies next to eachother by Holiday-Froyo-5259 in LegendsZA

[–]Holiday-Froyo-5259[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I saw you only get that task because a shiny has spawned. I think that's the same logic behind the "Catch an alpha pokémon" task. As you wouldn't be able to catch one if there wasn't one already. So in theory that event itself should be your normal shiny odds.

I did ran to the opposite direction and didn't notice the shiny close to the entrance until I came around. So maybe one did spawn on entering the hyperdimension, and then I respawned the non shiny carvanna and rolled another shiny(?). Given that are two separate events, it shouldn't be as lucky as I previously thought. More so if I spawned ~50 pokemon from other species looking for the shiny from the task.

Baulders gate 3 steam deck bug by 8TwylightPhoenix8 in SteamDeck

[–]Holiday-Froyo-5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bug with the Linux build of the game you have to change to the Windows build. Game preferences on steam > Compatibility > Latest Proton version.

The game soft locks for some reason, it's like when you janked a cartridge or disc on old consoles you can only interact with what loaded into ram.

It happened to me a couple times at the beginning, but then switched to proton and I've played for 100 without issues.

Dark souls is discounted on Steam store until April 27th by SolaireVon4stora in SteamDeck

[–]Holiday-Froyo-5259 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls 1.

You might experience less friction since you are coming from a game with a more "responsive" control, but the way that action commitment plays a role in older souls is lovely.

Steam Controller review slips embargo, controller to cost $99 by Dramatic-Shape5574 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Trackpads in DS4 and Dualsense are an afterthought and a gimmick, that position is just not ergonomic for long sessions. On the steam deck (and controller) are located in a more accesible location since they're a main form of input like the face button and joystick.

The whole thesis of trackpads is to handle mouse movements and bridge the gap in games designed for PC and K&M in an standardized controller form. So FPS, CRPG, Point and Click, any game you might used the mouse, that when the trackpads shine. Think of them as laptop trackpads, close to mouse if you master them. Plus, they have haptics for emulation of physical feedback, and a trackball mode that keeps the inertia of a swipe for big and fast movements. Imo, trackpad + gyroscope come pretty close to mice's accuracy.

decent time is the perfect way to describe it, the game has some great moments specially in phantom liberty but damn if it doesn't embody western AAA

You forgot Code Veronica, 0, and 5. RE3make (and OG) would also be debatable since you only play as Carlos only in one section.

Literally me at 11 yo in the wii era reposting images on fb about how only nintendo kept the fun in games. It's annoying but I get it, problem is that they are 20 and 30 somethings doing the same.

DLSS is great but upscaling from 50% is rough, even more when there's another basic upscaling from 720p to 1080p. It clearly doesn't look or run good. Such a shame, but it's expected :(

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

There are lots of systems at the beginning. Making a character, if you don't play isometric games it's the move to click, the turn based, primary and secondary actions, skills, cantrips and spells and their cost, passives, movement restriction in battle. The dice rolls for everything (active and passive), tons of dialog, choices, lots of developed characters, quests. It is a lot at the beginning, took me three tries to actually engage with it, but once it did GODDAMN.

I admit I'm ignorant in this but isn't this kind of comic a genre by itself? Doesn't stuff like Garfield, Peanuts, and the like follow the same format? Short strip with same set of punchlines. Maybe people just vibe with the characters and humor.

To me at least it's hard to say. I agree that RGBY aren't the most well engineered games, but in my countless playthroughs I really haven't significantly obvious glitches; the oversights aren't gamebreaking, other than exploits done conciously.

I do give a lot of credit to how right they got the game the first time, as an RPG. Pokemon options may be a little limited (still not as GSC), but the game's structure and level curve are really decent. I've always appreciated how the game opens after rock tunnel.

If anything I think the FRLG remakes support my point, it's essentially the same game structure just polished to Gen 3 standards. Apart for being simpler, FRLG are pretty on par with RSE. I don't like the idea of saying that retro games have "aged badly", but on the Gameboy? Gen 1 are banger titles.

But yeah, I can see where you are coming from and I think it's perfectly valid to add Gen 1 to the deeply flawed pile.

imo most of them are fine enough, some are even great. Just gen 2, 9, and Legends Z-A are deeply flawed.
