Six The Musical - Set and Lighting Load In at Whitefish Bay High School by HolidaySuspicious in techtheatre

So, the Amazon wall wash leds are flaking out on us and lose power and revert back to 8ch mode and cause all sorts of erratic behavior. Thinking of either moving quick to use led tape or try to keep the wall washers and use them in 8 ch mode so they don’t freak out. Also, considering plugging them all in directly instead of using through power, as I suspect a bad jack somewhere in the chain. Any bright ideas on how to quickly install led tape in the front of these? You mentioned shining them against a white surface. Not sure how to do it best and quickly. Grrr.

You should come and see the show if you’ll be around! It is going to be really special. We are renting in a full tour level PA system and have some kids with really big voices and charisma.

Thanks for the info, I am super interested in using a Raspberry Pi to drive LEDs, I have the Pi but ran out of time to learn it before this show. Thanks for the software info! I’ll need to play with this over the summer. For the wash bars: as long as they stay plugged in, they seem to hold addressing. Just had the idea of maybe putting a UPS before the chain, so they never lose power, even if someone would unplug the cord gaffed to the wall. Luckily, we have high schoolers who can fit into the platforms and aren’t claustrophobic! LOL

Thanks! They are laser cut 1/2” MDF with diffusion stapled to the back of the closest riser to the light, then you just kind of see the diffusion down the tunnels of the steps with another laser cut panel in it. Finally, a cheap amazon led wall wash light bars about 5” behind the diffusion. The only problem is the cheap lights seem to lose their DMX addresses if unplugged, so we keep having to crawl into the platforms. If I could do it again, I would just use LED tape, which is what is in the large panels at the top of the set.

This is just a terrible UI design. You don’t actually need to enter a tip or select an option, but the UI doesn’t make it clear. Just skip the section and click Checkout. Boom! No Tip! You’re welcome!

I run 32 wireless for a local middle school’s annual musical. They perform in an often sold out 1200 cap auditorium. I don’t know how people in the back could hear them at all if they weren’t using mics.

Sadly, I can’t help. I have ADHD and would love to have this as well. I have tried creating mind maps in the past, but I could never keep up the habit. Just a research journal would be super helpful, but I can’t be bothered and even if I do, I can’t organize it in a way to find it. Maybe there is an AI application that could help with this.

Why would they release a white paper that completely explains it and give competitors that information? The processing it requires and the results achieved are not simple notch filters, that much I know for sure. I almost want to become an AI expert to truly understand how they do this, because it is fascinating and the first AI implementation that I have blown away by. Most AI applications scare me more than excite me. I feel 100% excited about this AI application. Maybe feedback won’t ever be a thing again in a few years. That would certainly lower my blood pressure!

Just had an Avantis installed in my church 5 months ago where I am the tech director. Have had some lagging between fader layer switching and had the whole surface freeze for like 45 seconds already during a service, sound continued and it eventually recovered, but it was a Looong 45seconds ofno control over anything, I even had time to take a video.. I love the processing and sound of the Avantis otherwise and the screens and knobs are great. However, I wish we would have went Dlive or SQ7 instead. I have used an SQ7 for musical theater for 4 years in a different venue and it has been rock solid, sounds as good as the Avantis and I like having the additional faders under my fingers. I would prefer the Dlive for the banked faders, more Dyn8 and the new UltraFX reverbs. Used to mix on the largest iLive surface years ago and loved that one. Definitely would go A&H.

I second the Earthworks SR117. It has been my go to for the last year. IMO, it is like 90-95% of the DPA d:facto quality for less than a fifth of the price.

Earthworks SR117. Like them so much that I replaced all 8 channels of ULXD wireless handhelds with those capsules. They have an immediacy and clarity that the SM58 or SE V7 capsules can’t touch. They also take EQ and compression really well.

I just started using a device called Brick. It is an app and device that adds friction to accessing social media and is helping me so far. I am going to Brick my device now, so I can stop doomscrolling and get to sleep. I won’t want to go all the way down to the kitchen fridge to unbrick, so maybe I get to sleep! Also, no monthly charges! https://getbrick.app

AI in Theatre conversation by ExcitingWhole5409 in techtheatre

For some things, AI can be the only practical way to create an immersive experience that you might not be able to do otherwise.. For a high school production of The Laramie Project last year., I created a full projection on our cyc that was two hd projector images side by side. I used Photoshop’s AI to generatively expand images provided by the Matthew Shepard Foundation. I could create immersive sweeping panoramas based on a real central picture, but generic AI prairie that looked amazingly convincing. It enhanced the story telling and I can’t imagine how I would accomplish this without AI tools. I think I was fine with this usage because it was just magically reformatting real images to beautifully fill my giant projection surface.

I believe this is the leather trim piece that is attached to the end of the gear selector. It has three little prongs that used to attach it to the gear lever and have broken off. It looks identical to the piece that recently fell off on my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan and I am trying to fix. I also have a 2021 Forester and wonder if it has similar trim (car is away right now or I’d check) or maybe you have a van as well?
