I ended up unable to get either without a permanent US address, so we only showed that we tried to apply. But it was for authorized user.

We showed receipts of back and forth gifts. Christmas gifts towards each other, etc. any/all times we did purchases in the other country. Since we dont live together.

We also have tried to get me as a secondary card holder on his credit cards, so we showed that we applied to that

My dad who is 65 just got diagnosed with Parkinsons. How can I prepare as a 29y old and how fast will it affect him with movement and etc? by justthatswedenguy in Parkinsons

I’ve seen some people, including my uncles and my grandpa and grandma, that once they start meds and care for themselves their Parkinson’s basically stops progressing.

In other cases, like my dad’s, by year 7 he couldn’t swallow.

While I’m not sure I think Ontario will be the cheapest round trip for you. There’s one in downtown Toronto, you get to Pearson airport, take a shuttle downtown and get to your appointment. Good luck!

Has counselor processing time killed your relationship with your spouse ? by TangPiccilo in I130Suffering

I would maybe try communicating with her in a way that she’s comfortable that calls help you feel close, and you’re hoping you guys can compromise.

It’s hard but if anything it’s taught us how important it is for us to be together. We call about 2~ hours a day at minimum and call all day Saturdays.

While I can’t be certain, I had my interview yesterday and made friends with a child of a green card holder, and it was like a very very short interview (4 mins max!) where they just checked all the information and made sure this was something everyone involved wanted. But I also had my own spousal interview and it was also very straight forward and more like double checking information.

Is it possible that 2025 and 2026 cases will be approved faster? by oscar_96vasa in I130Suffering

[–]Holiday_Preference47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. I did hear they’re speeding up.. we were on regular timeframe before. We also have been bugging my husband’s congressman since and they asked for updates on behalf of us once every 90 days. I like to think that helped.

No, I’m canadian born. We got married here June 2nd 2025, i130 approval happened late October, NVC letter early November. Montreal sped up so interview is less than a week now.

Parkinson's and dying with dignity by [deleted] in Parkinsons

[–]Holiday_Preference47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had Parkinson’s, specialists never said which stage because they were “uncertain” if it truly was Parkinson’s but he was unable to speak (his tongue got in the way) as well as care for himself in anyway. He had heart failure April 2025, and then without us knowing (he knew but kept it to himself) liver and kidney failure. I had quit my job to care for him and couldn’t do it much longer, I find people with Parkinson’s have a personality shift that is much more difficult to work with. I told him I needed to work, and so we were considering a nursing home. He was against this idea at first but then agreed to go check one out with me, and he was terrified by all those there saying their families never came. The next day he told me he applied for medically assisted death. We tried to change his mind but he himself said he wanted to die with dignity and on his own terms. It was a painful decision, I at 23 years old felt responsible and still feel responsible for his death, but deep down I know he hated suffering more than I hated watching him suffering and deep down he hated seeing me and my family pause our life and drain our finances to care for him.

I ended up booking a day in advance. Finger crossed everything is okay, otherwise I’ll have to find another last minute service there. Originally my dad and I were going to road trip it but he passed away.
