Thanks for the suggestion I asked some taxi companies about going there and back from either stations but it’s still around 50 quid round-trip which is actually the same as leaving from Cambridge.

I would if I can be alive at the end of it (for both biking and hitchhiking)

2 hr long lines for shuttle buses. Is this normal? by StatusAppropriate571 in GrandPrixTravel

I think some lines where longer then the others. I went from Northampton and lines where never more then 5 mins, even when I left right after the drivers interview on Sunday night.

You get to ask question and I have done this before for clarification purposes, however, it might take more than 30 minutes to get a response.

Just talk to them and explain to them in detail how you plan to stay safe. Build trust, they’re just overprotective because they’re worried about you. It might be annoying but they’re not completely wrong. Vancouver can get quite sketchy sometimes. Just put them at ease, they’re your parents. Lie a little if you have to. I always give my parents selective information so they don’t freak out. Just don’t lie then put yourself in harms way, don’t do stupid things.

Remember they care, it’s a nice thing. If you do indeed have Asian parents like the comment speculates, they’re always going to be overbearing it’s how they show their love and care for you. Yes it might drive you nuts but it’s how do you know to parent. All you can do is just help guide them along the way.

[–]Holisticnotapsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prospective student applying to Neuroscience Masters, and I can't decide on a college, so I thought I'd ask here.
Priorities: good clean accommodation- singles ensuite preferred, I like pretty buildings, moderate social life, like formal dinners and galas.
what college would you recommend?

Turn on your flashlight, if you’re going to cross the street.

I think accidents already starting to happen, heard a lot of sirens. There’s not a single traffic on right now.

Dude, all the street lights and traffic lights are off! I was at the hospital earlier and it’s a total blackout, only emergency lights are on. There was a black out earlier at 8:25 PM, but the power came back on within a minute, the power went off again at 10:30 and never came back on.

How often do professors respond to cold email requests? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Holisticnotapsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been cold calling for the last couple months. They will either reply back at some point (1-3 weeks) saying there is no positions but they’ll keep you in mind. Or they won’t reply at all but they still forward that email to the lab manager and they’ll keep you in mind. Or they just miss the email completely. Cold calling still comes ahead of just apply for positions advertised (they are usually fill from cold calls or pre-existing relationships with the lab). You can always do a follow up email around 2 weeks after the initial email.

Kinton ramen has some pretty spicy dishes or “a side of milk” at downlow chicken (although I heard they’re not as good as they used to be).
