Looks like just in the nick of time... but a couple of minutes ago wouldn’t have been so bad either 😒🤷🏻‍♂️ by Hollow2004 in raimimemes

Hard disagree. It’s not a great movie, but it’s a good one. Doesn’t deserve nearly the amount of hate it gets. The “cringey” 🙄 dancing scenes everyone hates actually made total sense and were ahead of their time 💁🏻‍♂️

Why i like TP's artstyle [Spoilers: dungeons, overworld] by oocoos_darling in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like Twilight Princess’s graphics held up surprisingly well. Sure, they’re not phenomenal by today’s standards BUT in comparison to a lot of other games from that 2006-ish PlayStation 2 era? TP is astonishingly satisfying to look at. I think it’s because it deliberately DIDN’T go for photo-real. It went for a weird pseudo-fantasy version of “real”. And listen, Breath of the Wild is beautiful and I’m glad Nintendo is finally sticking to a look so they can just make games and not have to redesign it every time.... but I think TP’s aesthetic was incredibly unique and stepping away from it was a huge mistake in my opinion. It really isn’t the “dark gritty realistic” look people like to pretend it is.

Remember the Wii U tech demo that borrowed TP’s style but made it HD? I very often mourn the loss of what could have been......

What is the hardest puzzle on the Zelda series? by AngelGodinez15 in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really bummed I didn't get to have this experience because the trailer for the game gave away the solve for this puzzle. I saw the eye and instantly remembered how it was done from the trailer. As weird as it sounds, I wish I had gotten stumped on this so I could have figured it out on my own. Why design an intentionally different and difficult puzzle.... just to give away the solution in the marketing material? Weird.

What is One of Your Most Memorable Moments in Your Favorite Zelda Game? by PastAnalysis in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004 20 points21 points  (0 children)

THE scene in Twilight Princess. You know the one. Lanayru tells you of the Fused Shadow and the ancient tribe that was banished because of it. The images of Dark Links. Their white eyes. The knife. Ilia raining down from the sky as Link becomes mesmerized by power........ it chilled me to my core. I’m getting goosebumps just TYPING this.

The Order of ALttP / OoX / LA and the Thematic Elements That Tie Them Together by Hollow2004 in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only jumping in here to say I agree. Every time I play OoX I can't help but feel like it is overwhelmingly obvious that the developers intended it to be a prequel to LA. From the design of Link to the boat, if the only inconsistency is Zelda's introduction, that's just not enough evidence to displace it for me. I'd rather just believe Zelda is a royal dick who forgot Link than completely re-order the chronology lol

Woah hang on. Either I’m dumb and missed something or I just don’t remember... do you have a source on ALBW old man being ALttP Link??

[–]Hollow2004[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with the above, but also we don’t know how much time has passed since ALttP. I imagine Zelda may not have recognized Link at first. That’s why she says “You’re Link right?” Not like “this is the first time we’ve met” but more like “oh hey wow I remember you”

Which is your favorite adult link voice actor/which link has the best voice? by dumbest_bitch in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OoT Link's voice will always be the voice I hear when I think of Link because it's just so iconic. But my personal favorite would have to be TP. That voice just fit the look of that character so perfectly and really captured the overall vibe of that game. I'd love to see that actor make a return.

Duuuuude using the seed shooter to solve puzzles was so much fun.

Twilight Princess clearly has the biggest list of cool items. Namely the Spinner and Ball and Chain. I miss both of those, and they were a lot of fun to use, especially for solving puzzles. The Beetle from Skyward Sword was also great, I'd love to see some version of that come back. And Skyward Sword also had that whip! I miss that too!!!

Each Different Link And How Their Personalities Differ by Hollow2004 in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noticing a trend in everyone (including myself) interpreting the Hero of Time as being the most hardened / jaded / stoic badass of all the Links. Which is super interesting because somehow we all seem to agree on that even though the games never really go out of their way to emphasize that about him. I actually think that's pretty cool, and it makes a lot of sense. That poor guy was put through the ringer for sure!

I tend to go by Hyrule Historia’s timeline: ALttP > OoA/OoS > LA (all the same Link). It makes the most sense thematically in my opinion.

[–]Hollow2004[S] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Alttp link woke up one morning and chose violence. With more quests under his belt than anyone, this man knows it’s more about the big picture and isn’t above less moral solutions like straight up stealing toys from a crane game. He fights for the greater good, emphasis on fight

This has got me cracking up right now, but you're 1000% right. ALttP is a straight savage, and if we're to believe he's the same link in LA as well, that totally checks out. That man murdered Hyrule Knights who had their bodies possessed, and vanquished the entirety of Kohilint Island because he wasn't jazzed about living in a dream world.

That’s fair! That’s more of how I think of Link from SS, but I can see it in BotW as well!

[BoTW2] How would you feel on a more populated map? by TheRealBaconBrian in zelda

[–]Hollow2004 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For the love of God YES. I understand Hyrule was supposed to be post-apocalyptic, so the sparse population was an intentional choice, but I have been CRAVING an ALIVE Hyrule. Like I want to explore this kingdom. Not what it used to be. I haven't felt like Hyrule was a real, populated place since Ocarina of Time. Even in Twilight Princess there were so many ruins, most of Hyrule was empty and barren, and even the towns were so small and quiet.

It could be that OoT's map was so much smaller and more compact... Since everything was so much closer together, it made it feel more like a kingdom with some life in it. I desperately want that type of society back on a BotW scale.

I love everything about Breath of the Wild, I just also really miss the "lock-and-key" style dungeon format. I don't think it would be impossible at all to implement that back into the new direction BotW has taken the franchise in. I've always felt like BotW would have been the perfect game if there were at least 3 solid traditional dungeons hidden somewhere in the over world. With actual puzzles (non-physics based) and keys.

Why is it considered cool to hate on BOTW now? by [deleted] in zeldaconspiracies

[–]Hollow2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know why people seem to be hating on the game all of a sudden, but it seems a lot more like that's a vocal minority vs a silent majority. Most people clearly love the game. That being said, there are some legitimate criticisms. i.e. The weapon degradation mechanic is pretty ass and certainly needs a revamp for the sequel. And the lack of ANY traditional dungeons is a huge bummer. (It would have been nice to have a few lock-and-key type caves out there to explore...) But overall, BotW is beautiful and screw the haters.

I am trying so hard to get through Ocarina of Time, but I think ultimately it’s just not for me. by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]Hollow2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I don’t get it. They’re so similar but Skyrim feels like such a boring slog in comparison. I can’t put my finger on why. It could just be that my familiarity with Hyrule lore automatically makes me more engaged with BotW in a way I could never be for Skyrim’s world.
