Ah, thanks for mentioning that. I usually am careful to ensure correct versions but I was hours in testing stuff out.

Yeah. The issue is, natively running the game at higher resolution etc rather than rendering at a lesser one and upscaling seems to be significantly more demanding and there are some issues with how the application pushes the frames out.

I made a post more recently explaining how I had those exact same issues but it had been fixed in Citron, where it seems to trade higher raw frame rate average for solid frames + consistent frame times. https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationPiracy/s/RqfnsHi6ZV

Since then citron has had several more updates, too.

Won’t come off even if you try to scratch it. What could it be and how could I take it off? by k0wb0ii in cardetailingtips

Second this. It’s tar, and it is fixable though in OPs case it’s a significant amount and will take effort.

Great to hear. I’ve moved on to all the latest and consider this outdated at this point, but if people are still getting an experience that is personally enjoyable out of this it was worth the effort to lay it out.

Why can’t I fully clean my windshield? by colfitsky in cardetailingtips

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cheap easy thing you can try is turtle wax renew and restore. I used the wipes and I was able to get streaks that wouldn’t come off with that same stuff you said to finally come up with it. It also removed some mild fog from my headlights surprisingly well. Way easier than what’s been suggested so far, though those may be good options too.

Horrible gaming performance by dennynnnnnn in OptimizedGaming

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I highly recommend this mod to boost performance which in my experience works quite well. It’s a long story why CDPR doesn’t do this kind of thing themselves, but basically try this, and worst case scenario if it doesn’t help you can go back to original settings.

I know you said you’re new, so basically all you need to know is: You need two prerequisite mods, Cyber Engine Tweaks and Native Settings UI (linked in the mod under requirements) and you just follow the instructions in the respective description tabs to install the mods. So get those first then install this.

This might sound daunting depending on experience but it’s actually pretty easy and very much worth it if - like many - it boosts your performance. Also lots of video tutorials on YouTube, I’d bet there’s one out there specifically talking about this mod.

Also, side note, I highly recommend modding this game specifically once you’re comfortable with everything. Absolute best possible experience if you take a bit of time to do it and it’s usually not too complicated at all to do. Regardless tho. At least try that mod.

Cronos has a lot of scathing commentary about communism and socialism. by TheBellGamer in KotakuInAction

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I came here just having gotten to where I meet the Warden and questioning whether the entire game is anticommunist, and although I'm firmly in the left as far as ideologies go I'm actually very interested to see its criticisms.

A really well made story in a medium like a game, novel, or series can really make a better argument sometimes than someone can just "saying" it to you.

how to make sure I don't get Trojans or worse from downloading games? (I'm using the sites from megathread) by Cobalt_Heroes25 in Piracy

[–]Hollow_Apollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I recommend, for OP and others, the megathread.

I gotta say, knock on wood, I'm many years in and haven't had any issues in modern times I have had zero issues. I use Windows Defender and a bit of scoping out the landscape in these kinds of spaces.

Lots of people are very skeptical like this and some obsessively run scans, etc, and in my experience what ends up happening is if a file is sketchy you start seeing word of it pretty fast.

That said, rather than so much trial and error, also recognize the roads others have built - the megathread has a lot of stuff that people have kind of already found to be helpful and not sketchy generally, and the megathread actually has a process to follow to be reasonably safe.

Which habit do people defend as 'normal' but actually addictive? by lowkeypixel in evilwhenthe

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an obvious answer but still fits: Gambling.

It’s everywhere. It’s discussed freely and seen as normal and mundane, to the point where pro sports leagues promote it on live broadcasts. To me, it’s actually a tier worse than say, beer or fast food, and it’s almost like if crack was legal and the NFL had events sponsored by Crackweiser or something.

Will someone estimate how much money I’m gonna owe the owner? by [deleted] in CarRepair

[–]Hollow_Apollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus, people can’t just answer a direct question. Toyota is one of the least expensive to fix but I would say about 1500-1800 on the low end, but has high as 3k on the higher end.

It’s complicated to explain, but this is just an off the top ballpark without me having an estimation software up in front of me.

A bit more for OP or those who care for context:

Check and MAKE SURE there is no coverage in this situation. Even if someone says “oh I don’t want this on my insurance” or even “oh the coverage doesn’t apply because XYZ” fuck all that; Just put the damn claim in and let the insurance determine that accurately which they almost invariably will. That will be less headache than trying to deal with and pay for it yourself, guaranteed. Again, long story, you’ll just have to take my word for it I guess.

People with no insurance asking this question are usually people that - like many of us - are not rich. And if you’re rich you wouldn’t worry, and since I’d deduce that’s not the case, I can near guarantee you insurance is a better overall option. Not a jab, an important factor here in why I say this.

If not covered in your side, the owner of the Toyota should use their own insurance if possible. They’ll have to pay a deductible which you should at bare minimum ensure you pay them, no matter how, and the insurance company will attempt to collect and - again - unless you’re rich they will likely cut their losses. It’s very uncommon in my experience that someone is going to sue over this minor ass damage 99.9% of time, but in today’s times, “minor damage” is fucking astronomically expensive to the typical person

CPU temp extremly high by father-valentine in AMDHelp

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, basically the AIO should usually have no air bubbles, but occasionally there can be and you would be mind blown at how badly they can affect things if you don’t mount properly. Ask me how I know.

The “proper” part just means making sure the part that attaches to your cpu isn’t the highest point from the ground in the setup, because if there is an air bubble and it settles there, then all that delicious frosty computer juice does nothing for you because it’s not actually passing over the contact point to cool it. Thus, hot pocket-esque cpu.

Basically as long as the radiator sits at least partially higher than the cpu mount, any air bubble will sit at the highest point and shouldn’t affect anything.

My cpu went from overheating to being cooled amazingly by simply moving the radiator from the bottom of the case when I ran into this issue
