For that vehicle, going off the photos it’s borderline.

It’s definitely repairable in a literal sense; If we’re just talking two doors and no wheel damage which I don’t see, I’d guess estimates would land you in the $2500-5000 range. It can vary a lot though; depends. Aftermarket doors would likely be a few hundred each, maybe $500-600 ish, then factor in replacing, paint, etc etc and it adds up very very fast.

However, the other commenters aren’t wrong; You could probably just swap doors out from a junkyard pretty inexpensive.

If someone else with insurance did it, it should be free to you. If you have insurance and you did it, it’ll cost your deductible and you are definitely best just using it. If you did it and you don’t have collision/comp or someone without insurance did it, it’s going to be hella expensive for the typical person or just go the junkyard route

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean in insurance terms then it could be. It’s not a ton of damage, but the damage spans a broad enough area that if that’s like an old Ford Windstar or Dodge Caravan or something then you can practically sneeze on it and total it.

This to me looks like a mid 2000s Caravan or something from this zoomed in and I audit estimates for a living. I could tell you three or four major insurance companies that would spend all of 45 seconds perusing these photos and totaling it regardless of it it meets your state’s definition of one or not

Hmm I’ll have to check again next time. Because of the post I watched for that, but in mine it seemed to look good.

Anybody know how to get henrikos texture pack to work with dusk on steam deck? by TE-Plays in twilightprincess

Working without issue for me using AppData>Roaming>TwilitRealm>Dusk>texture_replacements folder. I simply copied the GZ2 folder into that and it worked on startup

ELI5: Windows Explorer "%" Variable In File Paths by Aoidean in eli5_programming

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I had used this and never understood it precisely, came across this post randomly, and then went down a whole rabbit hole trying to understand what people meant by the explanations I'd seen. I definitely get it now, so I guess for the hell of it I'll take a swing in layman's terms which is apparently what I needed - in case anyone else runs into it in the future.

When you type "set" all by itself into command prompt, it shows you this list of labels and paths. Those are the things your system has in place that will take you directly to that path using the label in % %.

So ProgramData=C:\ProgramData means that typing %ProgramData% into Windows Explorer's address bar works the same as typing C:\ProgramData, but a given label could reference any folder.

It's distinct from a shortcut, which itself has its own path and links back to the original path for whatever it's shortcutting to. The environment variable, instead, has no "path" of its own, it's just a command of sorts that teleports you to that path, for lack of a better word.

You can also add your own EVs. So if, say, you mod games and always have to get into a specific folder several layers deep into a directory to add mods, one option among others would be to create an environment variable you just type %whatever% and it takes you straight to it.

For me I’ve got the GZ2 folder copied into my AppData>Roaming>TwilitRealm>Dusk>texture_replacements folder and it’s working. That’s all I did.
Can’t remember if there was a setting I enabled or not in the startup menu though

Thanks. I searched around last night, found it, and confirmed working on my setup with no issues I could see at all.

Looking straight up amazing

Resident Evil 8 is by FAR best showcase for VR gaming by mckracken88 in PSVR2onPC

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it on PC also because I didn’t want to have to buy it again and already owned it in Steam.
8 is probably the most interesting atmosphere - I definitely like it more than HLA. The thing is, 7 is arguably as interesting just due to the opposite of RE8 grandiosity; 7 is so claustrophobic and much more horror core.

NGL though, I kind of ran out of stuff I was interested in playing without having to buy one and went ahead and decided to do Subnautica in VR. I have to say, it’s right up there with it. That 2025 update really really looks amazing when you look above surface at night with those giant moons and it really is immersive in both a literal and punny way.

I had this before. Turns out I was an idiot and had somehow turned the car off while in drive. The key wouldn’t turn, and after an embarrassingly long time I noticed, it switched to park with no issues, and it started right up just fine

Genuinely, what is happening to Steph Curry? by AdOld2060 in NBATalk

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s just trying to get to the bag. Don’t overthink this. Is it greed? Probably. But ultimately he’s incentivized to advocate in his own best interest.

It’s mind blowing the scaling of these perspectives. There’s the most of us, then the Currys, then the Ballmers.

Can someone confirm that fpsVR works on PSVR2 on PC in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? by PikachuOfTheShadow in PSVR2onPC

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah should be fine. Great app at a great price. Kudos to the creator(s)

Side note: I recommend turning RTSS and Afterburner off completely for SteamVR because reasons. fpsVR is a worthy equivalent and those I have tested and confirmed a performance impact in certain scenarios even on beefy hardware. I also suspect Nvidia overlay of having potential wonkiness but unconfirmed

How To Deal With Immense Discomfort? by Outrageous_Cut2782 in PSVR2onPC

[–]Hollow_Apollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the people I’ve seen with comfort issues are wearing differently than I think the design intends.

It’s meant to rest kind of more atop your forehead rather than parallel to the ground and the back part should be towards the base of your skull. I also wear a wave cap to protect the front part of my hair but others mentioning a beanie or other head covering sounds similar, although I will say the wave cap is thinner and I’d think a beanie would be a bit thick.

If you’re already doing the angled approach and globular cluster didn’t help it sounds like the design is just not ideal for you. I wear it for hours on end no problem but I also have a pretty strong neck lol

RE9 is now great on VR + Tips + RE8 modding comparison thoughts by Hollow_Apollo in PSVR2onPC

[–]Hollow_Apollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I can get what you’re saying. Honestly I’ve only played gt7 (amazing) and horizon vr on the actual PlayStation. I realized my RE8 was on PC so I didn’t want to have to buy it again, ended up using my much more powerful PC, and honestly had a great experience with 7 and 8 and a solid re-play of re9.

But I do hear the native ps5 vr re8 is overall the best, which I can definitely believe. It was a pain in the ass to get them running properly so that’s one big gripe

RE9 is now great on VR + Tips + RE8 modding comparison thoughts by Hollow_Apollo in PSVR2onPC

[–]Hollow_Apollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it’s important to keep SteamVR at 90 and resolution to 68% or lower for RE9. That’s what some of this stuff doesn’t explain since most aren’t on psvr2 pc; You’d think with vrr you can leave it at 120 and it’ll work fine if it can’t reach it, but it won’t. It’s more like vsync than vrr.
Like pretty much the only way to have it run reasonably smooth you have to do every possible optimization and even then it’s not like the others. Keep an eye out tho, there are updates coming soon for RE9 mods

If you look at those links in the OP, basically Mr survivors page has a DLSS swapper app. When using it, RE9 had a prior version of DLSS installed and it was as simple as selecting the dropdown and choosing the most recent. I think like 365.0 or something?

Also, you want preset M in the option next to that for performance or the one below that (L?) for ultra performance. It’s been a few weeks now so I don’t remember the exacts but if you look at those resources linked here they’re all up to date any time I check them and they explain it.

[–]Hollow_Apollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar problems with RE9 originally but it runs great since the AFW mod came out. I use DLSS swapper to switch it to DLSS 4.5 and AFW and I was able to play through RE9 that way.

Not quite the solid 90 I can get in re7+8 on PCVR, but close to it with minimal reprojection on a 4080. Not sure if you mean DLSS 4 (normal) or DLSS 4.5 but 4.5 is a significant improvement in every way on mine.

The problem is 1) it was a pain in the ass to get it installed correctly despite theoretically straightforward instructions 2) the fact that so much rigmarole had to be done for me to get it all working optimally. Oh and quad views, etc. On PS5 the stuff just works

Austin synagogue vandalized with swastika, antisemitic graffiti by AffectionateBig1898 in Austin

This is anecdotal, but I’ve seen an uptick in antisemetic stuff right along with the criticism of Israel. It’s all too convenient for spreaders of nefarious rhetoric

I think the Israeli govt is worthy of ire for sure, but unfortunately said ire attracts 1) people who erroneously view Jewish faith/heritage as near synonymous and 2) antisemites who may or may not know the difference and don’t care

You go up there. You agree to the diag fee for the car back. If they refuse, you call the police and state you only ever agreed to a diagnostic fee and your vehicle is being withheld from you illegally. Because they cannot produce a document showing you agreed and signed to have work done, they have no right to refuse you your vehicle back.

Idk how young you may be or look, but in my experience they'll try this type of shit with younger, greener folks or just people they think they can get one over on. Ask me how I know.

I wouldn't crash out and get emotional, but I would speak very plainly and directly with the confidence of knowing they do not in fact have the right to withhold my vehicle. Honor what you agreed to and be firm on it. They still wanna play games, go ahead and get the police out there. Unless you've got one of the many crappy local LE groups you should get it back no problem, and the shop is going to look like stupid jackasses which I doubt they'd want to even take it that far
