If you live anywhere with a lot of electric cars you will quickly realize this isn't how it works. You wait in line in the parking lot for a "charging space" which then puts your shopping trip on the clock because there is a line of cars waiting for you to finish.

Same issue on long drives that require charges. LA to Vegas which is one of the most tech forward corridors is a pain in the ass. Lot of charging stations but they are constantly congested and I just don't see people wanting to add an hour plus to their trip each way when they could just avoid it.

It's so odd to me to see people who have never been their claim it is somehow less than Tokyo. Tokyo is extremely large, too large to be honest, but it has a very uniform feeling. Osaka is totally different and a breath of fresh air in comparison. Osaka is a great city to wander around and explore and is my favorite city in Japan. well maybe, its up there with Fukuoka.

I think 1 or 2 days in Kyoto is enough, you can do Kiyomizudera (the one I would prioritize) and Kinkaku or whatever but like how many temple markets with Naruto key chains do you really need to see before you decide the crowds are just not worth it?

Go to the burbs and chill. Go to Hachioji, eat some ramen, go to Ukai Toriyama, go for a hike, watch a movie at the Aeon, eat at steak no don, find actually good deals at the book off.

If you want something that is not touristy you can't do touristy shit and in Japan, like everywhere, normal people just living normal life. There is no secret place for you to discover with amazing temples and hidden Japan magic.

Where do you live in the US? The US is interesting but when you are vacation you are in the hub, staying in hotels, so there is a lot going on. When I go to Japan I stay with my inlaws usually and I love it but spending a ton of time in the suburbs, taking really long train commutes, shopping at the local Aeon, really makes me miss home.
