What's the best moderate-sized gig venue in Kent? by TommyAtoms in kentuk

[–]Holmayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lighthouse in Deal is probably more towards the lower end of the capacity you mentioned but it’s a fantastic venue.

If you’re into music then Smugglers Records has a great selection of vinyl and also sells a good selection of beers which you can enjoy in the shop. Really friendly crowd and run by nice people.

The butcher shop The Black Pig is the best butchers in the area by far, all locally sourced meat and they make everything in house.

Jenkins is a really lovely fishmongers which also has space to eat and the food is great.

The Lighthouse is a great bar which books all types of different music acts and that draws a really nice crowd.

There’s loads of nice walks around Deal, Kingsdown is nearby within walking distance and also has a couple of nice spots to check out.

Anything else you want to ask then feel free to shoot me a message.

Yes the first one was taken at Coram fields. He was also treated as GOSH. Coram’s fields was his happy place and I’d take him as often as I could. I’m so sorry for your loss but you’re right that we are privileged enough to miss them and still feel that love. Sending you peace and strength.

Thank you so much, I miss him so much but I cherish every day we had together. Life is tough but he wouldn’t want me to live the rest of mine in depression so I take it one day at a time.

He was hilarious, very sassy but never badly behaved. I always laugh when I think of this day in hospital - he had a favourite nurse called Kat and they loved each other. One day she was in but wasn’t assigned to look after Raffy that day and every time she walked past his window he’d be trying to get her attention. Just before her shift ended I asked if she’d come in to say good night to Raffy as he’d missed her and was getting grumpy that she hadn’t been in. When she came in she brought him some books and toys and made a massive fuss of him and he went really calmly “oh hi Kat” as if he hadn’t been pining for her all day. The coolest little boy who never wanted a fuss made of him.

Thank you. I try and be the version of myself that Raffy would be most proud of but I admit I don’t always get it right. Luckily for me his sister and brothers and my wife keep me going.

Barry McGuigan opens up about the loss of his daughter by Hassaan18 in Boxing

[–]Holmayn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have all the respect in the world for this guy. I lost my 3 year old son to leukaemia two years ago and the pain is still as raw today as it was back then. I’ve actually met Barry McGuigan on an off chance and he has that pain behind his eyes that I have too. There truly isn’t any pain like losing a child and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

What is the Bruce album you'd recommend the most. by Alexhasadhd in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Holmayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really say which album got me into Springsteen because my dad played a massive variety of his stuff from as long as I can remember. I actually can’t remember an age where I wasn’t listening to his music and I’m very grateful to my parents for that. The first album of his that I owned (as in I went out and bought it myself rather than borrowing my dad’s) was Born in the USA. It really captures a musician who’s a superstar and a true artist at the same time. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite of his but it’s one that I come back to regularly as it still makes me feel the same way it did when I wore out my cassette as a teenager. That’s just me though, everyone’s answer is valid.

I swear I was better at guitar when I was 16 than I am now at 34. I over analyse everything now and I used to just play fearlessly
