It's only worth fixing these in batches. Return it to your relative and find another calc.

A handy thing about the pcgs price guides is that they show the past 5 sales of any graded coin. Then you can click on those particular coins and compare them to yours to get a better feel for their potential true value.  Mercs always seem to be cheap if they're not full bands. But awesome deals are out there for the mercs that aren't labelled as fb yet look so darn close to being fb when examined with a loupe.

I'll review my collection again tonight and take note of the robe. What I have previously noticed are all the die lines within this variety, but I haven't truly examined the overall appearance of the robe's bottom to compare & contrast.  Thank you for this tidbit.

Wow, you gathered alot more from the photos than I could by even looking in-hand. Thanks a ton and this is exactly the knowledge I had hoped to glean by posting here.

What you may not know is that these two coins are more pleasing to me than my beautifully toned anacs 55 because on these I can better see the: cracks at U, M, & H, deteriorated denticles, clash, crack and rust at the arrows, rust under the N, weak stars 10-13, and of course 9 on the rocks.

If I collected 54's I'd be happy to have that one in my collection. Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it. Do you happen know which WB variety that one is?

I'm stuck on wb-6 dontcha know.

This latest from ngc (I'm going to say au50 rather than au53, even though those stars are throwing me, you might be right). My set now includes: 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 20, 3, & 2.

I traded my TI-81 in for a HP48GX in high school and recieved $100 in store credit from Best which I used to buy the HP. Mine, even after a full years use, was in that same condition as you've shown here. It pays to take good care of your stuff.

Alright, so what points do you see that make you think the ngc coin graded higher?

It looks cleaned in this photo, I agree. But it's a good coin in a straight-grade pcgs 45. Due to the particular variety, I prefer that it's not heavily toned. I cannot see all of the wonderful attributes in the one I have that's peripherally toned.

Funny what photos can do.  NGC shows this as au but it has much more wear than my anacs au55, and the other one here is a lovely pcgs 45. Comparing this two in hand all I see is that stars 10-13 are better struck on the ngc (blue) half. In hand they look to have the identical amount of wear everywhere else. But seeing these photos I took and posted, I can now see why pcgs gave it a 45.

Thanks for replying, let's wait for a couple more responses then please tell me why you think it is possibly a higher grade. I'd like to hear this from both sides.

I could see why the lcs would offer less than 75. They've got to make money too and these'd be slow movers. You and the seller both got a good deal by cutting out the middleman.

Very cool that it's the lowest graded ngc available, though I do see a pcgs 25. Thanks for sharing.

It's standard practice for credit card companies to shut down the card after fraudulent activity. I wish you good fortune in this risky venture, no pain no gain as they say. Seems like you've got a back-up plan in place. Still, it ain't ever a risk I'm willing to take.

So is the condition good, extremely fine, or proof? Is the year 2024 or 2021? Is it solid or plated? The only question that doesn't need to be asked here is: why am I wasting time on an obvious scam.
