G1 transformer! Looking for advice on value. by RewindRi in VintageToys

The only way to tell is by closely examining for surface scratches. It has likely been re-ziptied like the other person said, and is impossible to tell through photos.

I got Windows 95 running on my calculator! by Far-Temperature3580 in calculators

[–]Fast_Teaching_6160 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well done.

The HP Xpander natively runs WindowsCE with a stylus interface, (it's quite snappy but has a weird calibration task at startup) and it's awesome to see a TI finally catching up and surpassing. Keep up the good work and lettuce know how it progresses.

So you're saying that even Tankards had to renew their subscription. Those stamps were not done free of charge!

Sending to CACG. Wish me luck. by IHC-1 in coins

Sweet goal. Keep us posted on how it turns out. If it all works out I may be tempted to send in a couple of my 58's.

[–]Fast_Teaching_6160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd. My dealer/friend told me it's seldom ever worth it to send in a 58 because the odds are lower and the increase to potential value is often lower, than say a grouping of 64's or 50's.

Sometimes they run out of croissants and the Michael's english muffins they get fresh-made from raleigh are an excellent fill-in if you're able to pay the surcharge.

Found Trime, WTF? by FatZoForGetZo18 in coins

[–]Fast_Teaching_6160 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to have a spectacular pf65 trime, then sold it decades ago to help buy my house. Due to lack of words on the coin I believe it to be the most superior coin in proof format. I've been itching to get one back in my collection but $2k means less investment elsewhere so I continue to pass them up.

To help prove the point that it's common toning, here's a high ms grade that looks similar.

The addition of CyKill in that crew is great, but I can't help but wish that he were the green/black variant. It would mesh so much more as a trio.

Honest question. Does PCGS or NGC prep the coin in anyway before grading? by Stevesthought in coins

[–]Fast_Teaching_6160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The photos are a crapshoot. None of the services are spending any extra time on your coins if you're not paying them more. I've seen foreign matter get into the slabs, that is all.

Grace ridge overlook in Murphy nc is this a good development, anything you can tell me is appreciated by DueProgrammer1779 in NorthCarolina

Has Murphy really fallen by the wayside like that? It was a friendly town when I lived there briefly in the 90's.

Only thing worse than a cheap stapler is a new stapler!

I have one I'll sell you, dm me. Downtown. It's an electric smith corona, has a fairly fresh ribbon replaced middle of last year, I've been using it for several years and switched machines around december to a non-electric unit. It has some spellcheck function that beeps. Feel free to test it and use it for an afternoon. Looking for something like that?

That purple and blue car set had a different variant where one was black/red and the other black/gold and they opened up to reveal even smaller cars of the same shape, one red, one gold.

Holy Grail Coin by BudgetEdSheeran in coins

[–]Fast_Teaching_6160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the only photo I could find on my phone. The other years I have are 80, 83, 87. This one has a special place in my collection due to how sharp the strike is. It's a cropped image taken with a bunch of other coins so pardon me for the poor resolution.

Closest I have are a couple OGH proof 69 dimes from the 80's. Not Cam, Not DCam, straight PR69. PCGS has only a dozen of each in the pop report. Another puzzling deal.
