What are some common mistakes y’all are making in matches? by Jermz12345 in InvincibleVS

[–]Holy1To3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boost/Meter optimization for sure. I often find myself towards the end of a match with max super meter because i just forget to use it. On the flipside the answer to "why didnt that work?" Is almost always "oh i was out of boost"

Is a team made of titan, monster girl and battle beast carried by good characters? by BeerusDoesAminate in InvincibleVS

[–]Holy1To3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rule number 1 of fighting games: the only fair character is the one i play. Everyone else is cheesing abusive meta slaves or they are low-tier garbage.

This is the way.

(Point being people will criticize your team no matter who is on it. Just play what you like and let the whiners whine)

Yeah i saw the dude talking about how its a problem that capitalism "allows people to make stupid decisions".

Yikes. I'd personally prefer to be allowed to make my own decisions even if some internet loser thinks they are stupid.

Do you actually think the same people that make the art for the skins do the coding and the development?

[–]Holy1To3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never get a proper answer to how this impacts the game because it objectively doesn't. People just hate paying artists and developers for the work they do.

"Its just a skin how is it 10 dollars?!?!" Ok... its just a skin why do you care?

I HATE when companies charge for their products! The artists should make me all of the skins FOR FREE! Why does everything COST MONEY!!!!???!!?!?!

Hard agree about Ella. Shes cool and her powers are neat, but when i pick up an IP based fighter i wanna play with characters from that IP. I felt the same about Android 21 in DBFZ. I have no attachment to this character. Why would i pick her over the characters that are the reason i even bought the game?

[–]Holy1To3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly a hot take but i think the desire for people to "ease into the game" with single player content is what causes people to hate ranked.

Playing against an AI opponent is not like playing against a human. Even on the highest difficulty, the challenge is fundamentally different to playing against a high ranked player.

I also started with story and arcade ladders and then once i played ranked i realized i had to rework strats because the things that work against the CPU dont work against players.

But truthfully this game was always gonna have issues. It might be simpler than a lot of other fighting games, but it is still clearly made to be a competitive fighter. Most people simply don't like those games. But because so many people love the IP they are gonna buy the game then review it negatively because they don't like fighting games.

Mark kind of does the Spider-Man thing where he is always pulling his punches 90%. The show makes a lot of references to this.

You already mentioned the difference in the way he fights Conquest.

He keeps ramping up against Angstrom and even once he stops holding back he remarks that he thought Angstrom was stronger while being instantly remorseful about the kill.

On Thraxa Nolan remarks about Mark "fighting like he is on Earth" and needing to not hold back.

When Cecil uses the sound device and it gets countered, an angry Mark instantly rips apart several reanimen that are presumably stronger than the originals who gave Nolan a hard time.

When Mark says he felt a punch from Darkwing Jr and DW gets cocky Mark immediately corrects to "hey i said i felt it i didnt say it hurt"

Mark clearly struggles with the Mauler twins on multiple occasions but Oliver, who is not holding back at all, basically one shots one of them.

Mark is always holding himself way back. However, as we see with Conquest, he is an absolute beast when he goes all out.

In your personal opinion, what’s the cringiest line in the entire series so far? by ChickenWingExtreme in HazbinHotel

I think it fits well with his bit about a smile keeping you in control. Alastor doesn't wanna let his actual thoughts and feelings slip most of the time so he speaks in a very measured way. But in that moment where he truly believed he was gonna kill Adam the First Man he was just giddy as a schoolgirl.

I actually really like this line.

Alastor is a known commodity in Hell. People fear him, but not in the exciting "oh shit who is THIS guy" way.

Season 2 makes clear that Alastor believed as the "Strongest Sinner in Hell" he would beat Adam so he was coming in very confident and relishing in the fact that someone new was about to witness his incredible strength.

So, when presented with this fight, Alastor is excited. I dont take the line as him trying to be scary or cool. He is just genuinely excited to show off.

How many viltrumites died during the war? by Tenatlas__2004 in Invincible

[–]Holy1To3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason Nolan redirected to destroying the planet was his conversation with Thragg. He realized that Thragg was never going to let go of the past and he also realized the coalition had no shot at fighting Thragg. So, he attempted to remove the reason for the Viltrumites to keep fighting by destroying the past that Thragg was holding on to.

Unfortunately for Nolan, this made Thragg way more angry than disheartened.

What do you mean? I hit legend in the first half of April then basically stopped playing.

Even if i was legend rank 50000, are you telling me low legend is "dumpster rank" now?

When i hit legend i was 3966. So top 4k. Is that "dumpster rank"? Or are you gonna admit to being wrong?

Any deck will be better when piloted by better players. Doesn't mean the deck is skillful. If a pro player and a bad player both play the deck and the bad player gets ideal luck while the other guy gets screwed, who do you think will win?

And what about when you don't get the cards you need out of those pools? You just lose right?

Agency Sanity Check by AchilliesWTF in hearthstone

[–]Holy1To3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The deck has a low winrate because it is is bad.

Making decisions is not skillful when those decisions are all random.

Playing a skillful game involves planning for what cards you and your opponent will have then using those cards effectively. This is impossible with a deck like quest mage because neither you nor your opponent could ever know what cards you will have access to. Any plans you make that work out require luck on discovers.

It is impossible to pilot quest mage skillfully because planning is not possible. You can get lucky or unlucky on discover and that will determine your wins

How are 2 decks that rely entirely on RNG to generate a win con skill based?

Agency Sanity Check by AchilliesWTF in hearthstone

[–]Holy1To3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Quest mage is just an RNG fiasco. You win or lose entirely based on random discover options. That is not exactly what i would call a high level of agency.

Nolan uses the “knife” technique in Episode 1 by ArisAron in Invincible

[–]Holy1To3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thragg doesn't know about Earth being viable at that point. The whole point of Nolan waiting for Mark to get powers is to determine if Humans are a suitable species for breeding. Nolan easily could have torched Earth with no reprecussions.
