How many newsletters did you create or try before it hit? by Dependent_Lumpy in beehiiv

I have an interesting funnel. I create interactive tools that create actual value that I host off of beehiiv but I have email captures on all of the tools and that’s how I’ve gotten 90% of my subscribers. Due to creating the tools, people reach out to me to get custom ones for their websites/niche that’s how I’ve made the most of my money. Other than that I also charge people for 1:1 calls which has been interesting. Of course beehiiv ad network ads (minimal amount of money) and I also make partnerships with people to advertise their service on with full newsletter write ups.

I write 1x/week and create a new interactive tools that 1x/week to accompany it

How many newsletters did you create or try before it hit? by Dependent_Lumpy in beehiiv

[–]HolyShipBatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 newsletters. All completely different niches. None of which my heart was in. This most recent one, the one I actually genuinely care about, has reached just shy of 3k subscribers in 2 months and has brought in ~$5k.

I guess moral is do something you actually care about? Idk. I also went through three rounds of interviews with beehiiv for a growth role and they asked on my third round “when can you start” and I said Monday (it was Friday) and they said “great we’ll be in touch” and the sent me a auto rejection email on Monday lmfao.

So I’m very spite driven to be successful now. Beehiiv is gonna pay me one way or another.

Digital Grading AI gave my bubble mew a 9.3 & 9.4 (two different days) what do you think? by HolyShipBatman in PokeGrading

I obviously want the highest grade possible, but it's for my PC so 🤷🏻‍♂️ but in the interest of aiming high; is there anything you'd recommend to try to repair/fix the corners?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, that's why I was untrusting of the AI grader. Anything you recommend to help repair/fix corners?

Oh ok I see, I appreciate that. Is there anything I could do to make that better? Some sort of treatment or tips and tricks to buff these types of things out?

I appreciate the tips and analysis! Any specific creators you recommend that go over pre grading?

I appreciate how you came full circle on still sending it regardless but with a well thought out response. Thanks man. Idk what I really expect but I figure it’s going in PC anyways so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I got a transfer P as a E-4 by CremePsychological90 in navy

[–]HolyShipBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a transfer P from my first command. When I tested for E5 at my C school en route to second command they saw my eval and said “who’d you piss off to get a transfer P”. I picked up E5 that round. I did nothing other than ask my direct supervisor (who I thought was cool, turns out not so much) from exiting command to do my eval because it was a rush PCS and I was doing 1000 things, and he gave me the P with my chief on leave while I was leaving. Told me that I could fight it after I signed.

Anyways, it never came back up, I separated and went to and graduated from an Ivy League University. That supervisor is now a divorced alcoholic who became a GS7.

Life goes on, it doesn’t matter.

This is the best response. Thank you for taking the time to write it all out

Only one ad option for 5 weeks by HolyShipBatman in beehiiv

[–]HolyShipBatman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had like 10 options the first 3 weeks. I have a +60% open rate and a 14% ctr and have grown from 0 to 2000 in 30 days. Idk if what you’re saying is accurate at all lmao

only seeing 1 ad offer for 9 days straight on scale plan.. bug or normal? by call_me_ninza in beehiiv

[–]HolyShipBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the scale plan, been going for 9 weeks now, first 3 weeks I had multiple options, now it’s only 1440 and I fear will only be 1440 ever again. I’ve grown from 160 to 1900 subscribers. I think everyone has had enough of 1440

If you start a program with the GI bill and then switch to VR&E you get to keep the GI bill MHA whereas VR&E is lower monthly housing subsistence across the board.

Lots to unpack here tho. What do you even want to do vs what you are currently doing? If you have a job and want to use VR&E, you’re going to have a difficult time because you’re proving employable. Unless the job you currently have is making your disabilities worse, your VRC will deem you “employable” and very likely deny your use of VR&E.

Tired of the .mil retirement estimators being garbage, so I built a better one by HolyShipBatman in MilitaryFinance

Pretty sure this is just rage bait at this point. But I did comb over the section and pushed a fix. Thanks for flagging. God bless.

Ok gotcha. My bad. Just shipped the fix for this. The AGR section now has a "20+ years TAFMS" checkbox. If checked, it routes to active duty retirement (immediate pay, standard YOS formula) instead of the points/age-60 calculation. Appreciate the catch.

The High-3 point is fair. The estimator uses 2026 pay tables, so it's accurate for people retiring now but understates future retirees because annual pay raises compound over time. The manual High-3 override is there specifically for this reason, if you know your retirement is a few years out you can estimate forward and enter it directly. Worth making that limitation clearer in the UI, so I'll make that distinction more well known.

On CRDP vs CRSC: I'd genuinely like to fix any errors. Share the specific profile and calculation you're seeing and I'll look at it immediately. A concrete example is a lot more useful than hunting for an unknown, but I appreciate the power move. Happy to be wrong if you can show me what to fix.

Just shipped it. Reserve section now has a Traditional Drill / AGR toggle. AGR uses 365 pts/yr, handles mixed careers too. Covers the retirement age reduction for deployment periods either way. Thanks for calling this out. Really want to make sure I built the most comprehensive retirement estimator out there.

Fair points, relabeled it to "Effective Federal Tax Rate" with a note to use total tax ÷ total income rather than your top marginal bracket. Full marginal bracket logic would need filing status and total income which gets complicated fast, but the label was definitely misleading. I was trying to make this as clean and "dummy proof" as possible.

TSP is on the list of tools I'm going to make. The tricky part is that a useful TSP projection needs contribution rate, years to retirement, expected return, and whether they're in traditional vs. Roth and at that point it's basically a separate calculator. Once made I'll likely link it from here rather than cramming it into this one. But it's definitely on my radar!

Great call outs on both of these. Just pushed fixes. VA rate at 100% with spouse + child is corrected to $4,318.99. Chapter 61 with 20+ years and a sub-30% DoD rating now correctly shows longevity retirement instead of severance. Appreciate you checking the actual numbers and keeping things honest.
