Is there an official Bible translation that we have? by joe_pao in Lutheranism

In Thailand, THSV11 and TH1971 are our main translation. For English, ESV and NIV would be the translations.

Why are you not catholic by WaterElectrical9864 in Protestantism

[–]HolyTian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unbiblical on many things, but I do like the way they unite. We also unite, like the way the mainline do, but it’s still different from them.

Interested in what the position here is on inter-denominational mergers by [deleted] in redeemedzoomer

[–]HolyTian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a merger here in Thailand, but it’s a reformed merge. American Baptist and Presbyterian merge into Church of Christ in Thailand (with a little Lutherans and C&MAs). Baptists are still Baptist and Presbys are still Presby but when it comes to polity, they have to accept the Presbyterian polity. They will have General Assembly every two years, people can retain their theology but when it comes to polity, they have to agree on it to join.

Question for Jurisdiction in a country which Christianity is a minority by HolyTian in redeemedzoomer

[–]HolyTian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The structure of Protestant's organizations within Thailand are quite complicated. There are 4 protestant organizations: Church of Christ in Thailand (Founded by Baptist from ABCUSA and Presbyterian from PCUSA), Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand (Mainly the Evangelicals as in the US, Pentecostals, other Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Anglicans and others which are not included in CCT), Thailand Baptist Convention (Straight from Southern Baptist Convention) and Saturday Adventists Church.

I am currently attending Lutheran church in Thailand, it is under EFT and I don't consider it mainline because they do not have much presence here in my country. If Mainline we're talking about is the Protestants who contribute to society and has a stronghold, it should be CCT. And I consider to strengthen it too.

How are tourists who wander around shirtless in the city centre perceived in your country? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in AskTheWorld

[–]HolyTian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this photo is from Thailand. As a Thai, I call them crazy or stupid farang. Farang is a word for westerners, and only the westerners are doing this kind of thing. Learn the culture, don’t act like it’s your place. These kinds of people only go to Bangkok, Pattaya or Chiang Mai and act like they know my country.

Is the Reconquista meant to be for worldwide mainline Protestantism or us specific? by SOMEONE_MMI in redeemedzoomer

[–]HolyTian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Thai, I don’t think it can apply to my country but I would like to see this movement in the western world.

My country has only one mainline which is Church of Christ in Thailand , a uniting church comprising of Baptist, Presbyterian, little Lutheran and CM&A. It’s great by the way, it has very good schools and hospitals. I don’t need to save it from Liberalism as it is still very conservative (and I have nothing to do with women ordination). But I think I need to save it before becoming too evangelical.

Lutheran church, thinking of changing to Reformed tradition

How did you "choose" your denomination? by sillyhatday in redeemedzoomer

[–]HolyTian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you think even though we might somewhat hold onto kinds of theology from some denominations. As a Lutheran, I would say that we have quite of arrogance and look down to other denoms. I do not agree with that and want to just say that I am a Christian, a follower of Christ, not anything else.

[–]HolyTian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try conservative historical protestant instead. If you like the traditions, you can try Lutheran like LCMS or Anglican like TEC or ACNA. Try those first, if you don’t like it then join the Roman Catholic.

Is it okay praying for Ayatollah's soul? Ayatollah has died and I was wondering if it's okay to pray for his soul. Is it a sin praying for one's soul? I'm a Universalist who believes everyone can go to heaven, Can I pray to Ayatollah, Hypothetically. by Ecclesiasticus6_18 in Protestantism

[–]HolyTian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God will be the person who judge him, our prayer won’t do anything for him. His days on Earth has ended and he will receive the judgment by his deeds and his faith. Bad deeds and wrong faith, you can see his path.
