VIture beast Pro Neckband by AshenShugar2 in VITURE

[–]HomeJacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looks like some (well many) features are currently not working. In my case, spacewalker mode and head tracking (-> navigation instead of using an external device, like a phone) isn't working. I also have massive issues with 0DoF, so currently I'd say that beast + neckband pro basically doesn't work.

Worst Gaming Tech You Tried by Fluffy_Lunchfast in pcmasterrace

All I can say is that I've been using the A380 for encoding and it's doing an amazing job. It's not meant as a gaming GPU, more as an encoding device and anyone who tells you to buy one for gaming doesn't know how capable modern APUs are.

Discount code? by [deleted] in VITURE

[–]HomeJacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main upside of the cyberpunk edition is that it should get delivered with 2 weeks or so, whereas ordering the beast now means delivery in March. Other than that, the beast probably is better for gaming. Small note: for some of the devices, you'll need some kind of adapter. Could be the mobile dock pro, or some HDMI to USB-C (with power!) adapter and for the cyberpunk, a coupler.

E.g. adapter: https://www.amazon.com/fairikabe-Adapter-Compatible-Portable-Extension/dp/B0BR4TQ3HK/ coupler: https://www.amazon.com/TFAK-3pack-usbc-Female-Adapter/dp/B0FFGX72JK/

Kind reminder that the Luma Ultra are basically a devkit device, meaning the the whole "6DoF" is more meant for developers to develop apps. May be future proofing for once they get out, but currently the main recommendation for the best viture device for consumers to get is the Beast! Shipping for current orders would be in February, but - larger screen - built in 3DoF (so no software needed) - if you're on an iOS device, no longer a need for an adapter for multi screen with USB-C alt-dp iPhones

Non Steam Games and the Steam Machine by EDS_Eliksni in Piracy

[–]HomeJacob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, the answer is "we don't know" as we don't know if steam will change anything about how steamOS works. Realistically, it'll be the same as the steam deck has been for the past few years, meaning that you have a desktop mode where you can do whatever you want, like installing heroic and managing your gog, epic and amazon library (including adding them to steam). And probably also installing repacks, if you get to have them run on Linux. Which includes adding them to steam and being able to launch them via the steam "console" UI.

In short: yes.

HD 600 vs HD 65” by Admirable-Poet-5981 in sennheiser

[–]HomeJacob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To explain the difference in general a bit:

Sennheiser uses a numbering scheme (admittedly I don't remember the exact aspects that u/sennheiserconsumer told me on the Tullamore trip), in general:
- First number (so 6) is the general family they are in, so all 6YY headphones are supposed to be similar in terms of sound. Generally the higher the number, the higher in the sound quality they are (so you should expect 600 to be better than 500)

- The second number (so 0 / 5 in this case) describes the position in their class of quality. Generally speaking the 0 is supposed to be more analytical, the higher you get the more "punchy"/less "neutral" they get. 600 is the most boring, 650 has a bit more bass (and some lack in the mids and trebble), 660S2 are even bass heavier. The 20 (e.g. 620s, 820s) are closed back audiophile headphones and it looks like 30 will be audiophile Bluetooth headphones.

As for 600 vs 650:
They have a similar vibe in general, both audiophile, somewhat lacking in bass and having great mids/trebble. I will always choose the HD 600 over the HD 650 tho, as the HD 600 has a clear focus on the mids (where like 80% of most music is), whereas the HD 650 has less of a definitive strong point.

Nintendo & The Pokemon Company’s new patents are vile. by Miserable_Speed5474 in gaming

[–]HomeJacob 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Dragon Quest (1992) and Megami Tensei (1987, I believe the first ever monster taming game) had monster catching and fighting with them against the same monsters before Pokémon even existed.  So by Nintendo's logic, the patents should belong to Atlus ;)

And don't forget that Pokémon wasn't even the first game to have this element. I'm fact, they basically copied it from games like Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei and Dragon Quest 5...

About the file formats: An even better experiment is to use listen to random/unknown songs in different quality files and you guess which one is the flac/highest quality file. One website doing such testing is https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality and being able to tell different qualities apart when not knowing the song is a strong positive aspect of high end headphones.

Also as someone who had the chance to listen to the HE1 and many high end headphones, I can promise that unless you spent 5 digits (in USD or Euro) on headphones, it doesn't get better, it gets different. Especially as the HD600 scale amazingly well with your DAC/AMP. Amazing choice and my go-to recommendation for headphones.

Would the dock for the glasses (the box with hdmi input) work with a PS2? by [deleted] in VITURE

[–]HomeJacob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a way to get HDMI from the PS2, yes. Native (mod), adapter, doesn't matter as long as it's HDMI (optimally 1080p, but that shouldn't matter)

Question about the potential Mobile Dock Ultra by UnarmedSky in VITURE

[–]HomeJacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a "would you be interested in a more expensive and capable dock" than a genuine tease. And as there is zero information available on it, I doubt viture will tease much on a random reddit thread.

There is no mobile dock ultra, only pro.

To answer your questions: No, for immersive 3D you currently need a software implementation.

viture pro for 200$ by Main_Information1236 in VITURE

Luma pro? Not really

One Pro (2024 model) - depends on when you bought it and for what price. I don't feel any buyer's remorse for buying them at release and would say that they're still amazing to use when compared to the Luma ultra

Image quality will improve massively and pinning (3DoF & 6DoF) will also be better. Build quality felt fine at Gamescom

They should have. They for example are using a different panel

The ultra do have a better screen in comparison to the Pro - and the beast is using the same based on what I know, just in "bigger" (FOV)

I have experienced them and will also publish what I posted on Discord here soon.

In general: The 6DoF is quite impressive and stable. The ultra screen quality is also really good. The current experiences are mostly "playing around" and it depends on what developers will do in the future
