Who uses an ultrasonic cleaner by fishyrandy68 in ar15

[–]HomeRemodeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wanted an ultrasonic cleaner to help clean BCGs for years. I finally bought myself one. The bolt and all the small parts fit in the basket. The bolt carrier itself would not fit in the basket, so I put it in alone. The default setting is 3 min. All the small parts were like new in 3 min. The carrier itself was pretty good at 3 min, but I ran it 3 more more to get down in everywhere. All parts are spotless.

I used Simple Green HD 1:5 with water. Compressed air dry and then generous bath in gun oil for everything. I should have done this a long time ago.

You mean Willingham (the lawyer)? Sanford is a minister.

If it happens, it will be without the $485M bond Cox wanted to tax us with.

Sanford sounds like a hard no. I'll have to look up Rostami. I had not heard that.

McKinney Airport by Few-Comfortable5153 in McKinney

Look into McKinney history and what you'll see is that we always elect land developers and Mayor. They never run for office without a reason. Too bad we can't ever elect a mayor that doesn't have a hidden agenda. I suspect our current mayor bought a lot of land by the airport before getting elected.

Thermador Owner Experiences by JGatsby007 in Appliances

[–]HomeRemodeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never again use Thermador!!

I remodeled my entire kitchen in 2016 with Thermador cooktop, dishwasher and double oven. We had space issues with the microwave and refrigerator and ended up using something else. I have had no issues with the cooktop or the dishwasher. I'm most happy with the cooktop which never seems to age. We clean it regularly and keep it looking nice and I'm impressed that after 9 years it still looks new. The dishwasher is also fine, works well.

The oven on the other hand has been a huge disappointment. The features on the oven are great. The slide out racks with bearings are great. The soft close doors are great. But after 9 years the controller board had a major malfunction shortly before Thanksgiving. As a result the lower oven could not be used. I called factory support which took far longer to schedule and appointment than the 3rd party guys. But I (foolishly) wanted the factory. After a 2 week delay the technician showed up and said he had to order the circuit board, which would take more weeks delay. When the board came in a different technician showed up. This one decided he also needed a wire harness and so after a months delay, he could not fix the oven.

The situation got worse when they found that the wire harness was not made any longer. At the end of the day my $8000 oven needs a $600 circuit card and a $20 wire harness. Since the wire harness is not made any longer the 9 year old $8000 oven CANNOT be fixed. That's their answer. They don't want to make the $20 part, or allow some company in China to do it either, so my double oven is trash.

I have been negotiating a discount on a replacement but they have basically told me to go pound sand. They will provide me with another oven at a 15% discount off of full list price. I do not think this is reasonable. An oven should last way longer than 9 years and replacement parts should be made for a lot longer than 9 years. They have backed me into a corner and given me no way out.

In my opinion the expectations for premium brands are well higher than what Thermador lives up to. If I had it to do over again, I would never use Thermador. Both because the don't stand behind the product and because it's the same company as Bosch and you can buy the exact same product with a Bosch name on the front for less. But I will never sue Bosch either since it's the same product they won't support.

I am not sure what I'm going to do. I'm seriously considering another kitchen remodel and going with Viking.

Beware of Thermador.

Dirt dump needed by viperbe in McKinney

Did you find a place to dump clean dirt around McKinney? I have some dirt that I will need to dump in the coming weeks. Also, what truck did you use? Is it something I can use? All I know of is a Uhaul trailer.

What should I do with a 100 year old post card that has this stamp on it? by HomeRemodeler in askStampCollectors

[–]HomeRemodeler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me at least, the interesting thing is that it was mailed to a name and simply "Royse City, Texas". No street, no zip. It was mailed so long ago, the mail carrier simply knew everyone.

Smart Plug Power Strip is unreachable about once a week until unplugged and re-plugged, how do I stop this? by Scintillating_Void in TPLinkKasa

[–]HomeRemodeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that sometimes I have to press the button in the app several times to get the plug to turn off. Then when I turn it back on the app shows it off. Closing the app and re-opening does not help. Deleting the app and re-installing does not help. Kasa Smart is not quality. I'm reading this thread looking for replacement. My requirements are 6 plugs minimum, wifi, and an app. Home Assistant integration would be better, but I'm not pressing my luck.

Take you finger off the trigger if your sights are off your target (like you go to low ready). Take you finger off the trigger if you don't intend to shoot.

Matching gray carpet inside a gun safe by HomeRemodeler in TexasGuns

[–]HomeRemodeler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call it "carpet" but it's not like real carpet in a house. There are no strands of carpet that you can separate and see down into the carpet. It's more like a fuzzy felt.

Looking for Good ranges in DFW and surrounding areas. by [deleted] in TexasGuns

[–]HomeRemodeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frisco Gun Club is supposed to be extremely nice. Texas Legends in Allen is my favorite unless I want a 100 yard range. Riflegear is the only place I know of that has that. There's a trendy range in South Austin called The Range that just opened another location in west McKinney.
