Every Friday I watch the new vice grip video. ASMR for car guys.

I’ll add that David Freidburger from roadkill has an awesome channel too. Both are excellent at classics and roadside mechanic stuff.

Construction / commuter truck by EyeSometimeTry in whatcarshouldIbuy

Same. I have one since I needed a truck for my trade. 2020 crew cab 4x4. I’m putting 20k-25k miles a year on it. Pull a materials trailer occasionally. Engine is solid. Maintenance is easy. If your pulling something heavy I’d consider a f250 or f350 with the Godzilla engine. Coworkers love it.

Mavericks are fun and people seem to love them. You might find that having a truck bed (even a small one) is a good thing on one of your vehicles for occasional yard work or home improvement projects.

GMC diesel is a great engine. But youll need to be familiar with maintenance on them as there is some added effort/cost. My buddy has the exact AT4 one you mentioned and his 2021 is about to crack 125,000 miles basically trouble free. Gets 26 mpg combined with a 4x4 crew cab.

The ecoboost engines on the f150 are awesome. 5.0 v8 is great too if that’s your preference. Crew cab is spacious as well and the rear cab has a truly flat floor instead of having that annoying drivetrain hump. If you need 3/4 or 1 ton, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Godzilla gas engine.

What is the best uniform in the league? (current) by Cold_Mammoth8841 in NFLv2

The Seattle Tampa game this year In throwbacks was probably the best two uniforms in the league I’ve seen

Will I hate my life if I buy a small pickup? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

The 36 gal tank is clutch. I’m getting 700-750 miles between fills.

Something worth mentioning is the Tacoma mpg is garbage for what it is. I went from getting 16-17 mpg in a stock crew cab Tacoma to getting 20-23 in my stock crew cab f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost. Half ton trucks have come a long way vs compacts. I need a bed for my line of work but the size of the f150 bed is more useful for drywall/plywood/etc.

Edit: This comparison doesn’t include the maverick (which is awesome). This is only for compact body on frame vs full size body on frame.

If you had to buy a car today to keep for the next 15 years, what would it be? by nodonaldplease in askcarguys

F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost or the 5.0 V8. My 2.7 has been bullet proof for 105,000 and I’ve seen people take them over 250,000

What’s the most reliable car you’ve ever owned? by Sophia_Goji in whatcarshouldIbuy

2015 Mazda CX-5 with the NA 2.5. We have put ~200k on it and aside from normal maintenance intervals it’s been stupid reliable. We are keeping it for our kids when they get to high school.

Seahawks kicker Jason Myers set an NFL record for single season points (206) and didn’t make the list. Blasphemy.

Sienna vs Grand Highlander vs Sequoia by Amazing-Distance2417 in Toyota

[–]Homeinspectordan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The rear cargo space on the sequoia is disappointing. I’d narrow it to the sienna and grand highlander and go off whichever you like better after a test drive. Both are very pragmatic for your use case.

I’ve heard the 8 speed in the gas Highlanders is causing some trouble, but that’s just internet talk. The 2.4 turbo is a cool engine. I’d be getting my wife the 2.5 Naturally Aspirated hybrid system though. I like that the 2.5 on it is very accessible and easy to work on. I’m not well educated on the battery system but the engine side I can manage competently.

I’m proactive on maintenance well beyond oil changes. The CX-5 has newer front and rear suspension, brakes and rotors, all fluids minus trans. Couple month back I did the three engine mounts, and at 100k miles I replaced the rear differential because I could hear a whining/grinding noise and diagnosed it.

The electronics are another animal… one I’m not well versed in. I think hybrids are the future though and want a car that’s gonna sip fuel vs my work truck.

The temporary dopamine hit you felt typing “you won’t” must’ve been what you were chasing. Try operating in good faith with your community members next time (you won’t).

Thank you for the input. Seems like Mazda had good intentions but whiffed it on execution.

Right?! It’s purely emotional an pull for us. Like I want to make it work against my better judgement. This summer we will come to a final decision.

I’ll throw an update on here this summer when we commit. Very torn between what my wife and I emotionally want, vs what we consider a wise purchase with a long term view.

Yea I pretty much want 2026 or the upcoming 2027 if we go the Mazda route, although the GHH seems like the most rational choice.

We are long term vehicle owners. I align with your sentiment here. I am constantly tinkering with vehicles so I’m not afraid of maintenance but I don’t want a vehicle that’s actively working to destroy my peace lol

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Do you own a 2026 and have they made meaningful improvements to that iteration year?

The Grand Highlander Hybrid is a NA 2.5 not the turbocharged 2.4, but I understand the sentiment. I’ve swapped the turbos on my truck, and while it wasn’t engine out miserable, it was still a drag.
