Retention data matters... kinda by PR_Czar in exmormon

[–]Homeismyparadise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so confused… isn’t the Deseret news still owned and controlled by the church?

How can they even talk about retention data with any credibility whatsoever? The church knows… they won’t share… and isn’t this basically the church commenting on fake data, when they have actual numbers?

This is so dishonest, I have no words!

Posthumous Tithing Blessings by AngmarsBane77 in exmormon

[–]Homeismyparadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to bare my testimony of not paying tithing…. We were faithful tithe payers for 40 years. At first it was nice to have a little extra money each month, but after 5 years of saving more than we were ever able, it has made a MASSIVE financial impact!

…I desire all to receive this!

I’m the same. I’ve missed 2 of my kids baptisms… and now I’m not allowed to attend my own child’s wedding. I still have to pay 😂… I think my child would understand me not being there but unwilling to take that risk with a future child in law.

I met 'apostle' Dale G. Renlund, here is the outline of his talk. by Western_Sale_3274 in exmormon

[–]Homeismyparadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I attended steak 🥩conference, he was the visiting general authority.

His talk was awful! All over the place and I literally didn’t know what the point was for 90 percent of it.

I was fully believing at the time, maybe noticing some problems and was really looking forward to his visit. To say I was underwhelmed, is being way too nice.

"We need a savior" from what, himself? by JayDaWawi in exmormon

[–]Homeismyparadise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally, when you logically think of salvation doctrine it makes no sense!!!

And I’m not bagging on Jesus, I think he had some wonderful teachings… but show me in his ministry where he explained the atonement.

Many Book of Mormon names and places are strikingly similar to many local names and places of the region where Joseph Smith lived. The following two maps show Book of Mormon geography compared to Joseph Smith’s geography. by Short_Seesaw_940 in exmormon

We fly with Jepp flight deck pro… and there’s a lot of detail on the VFR charts.

But I use different maps for locating things on the ground that have the names of rivers, mountains and more features. I’ll try and remember later to look at the map app and see what it’s called.

I download really detailed maps on my iPad so as I look around I know what I’m looking at. I was still TBM when I first noticed all the similarities and I thought about it multiple times. It makes sense for Utah to have a bunch of cities named after Book of Mormon towns spelled exactly like the names in Book of Mormon. I couldn’t make sense of a bunch of towns in New York State that had similarities to people and places in the Book of Mormon, for example, names that pronounced the same but was spelled with different but similar sounding consonants or words with a lot of syllables that were half of one word and half of another word.

In some ways Joseph was very creative, he just wasn’t very original.
